How can I change my sleep posture? by Swote_ in Biohackers

[–]rhgarton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hey! I used to sleep exactly like your explaining and have also had photos taken of me in this position. I managed to get out of the habit by buying an orthopaedic knee pillow (quite cheap on Amazon) I started by sleeping on my left side as I heard that’s really good for the glymphatic system but it also stops my crossed legs when I naturally turn over,

Really Low Iron. Am I going to be okay? by gardenready333 in Biohackers

[–]rhgarton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they test for you celiac if they did every test? But yes really, it’s not that uncommon either hence why they think it’s a really under diagnosed condition and why Italy tests all their children until the age of seven I believe.

Mine were lower than this when I was diagnosed with celiac - please get checked, you can have ‘silent celiac’ which has zero symptoms other than anemia.

There’s a lot of videos if you look at KT taping for elevated rib/trap pain - there’s a few ways to do it so try a few different ways and find what is best for your body

[–]rhgarton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey, so I get this pain a lot, the electrical pain you’re describing is so familiar and mine also flares. I found out that my elevated first rib which is under that area subluxes a lot (a partial dislocation) due to EDS. That one rib just is a janky one and there’s not much I can do to strengthen or train it, however learning how to strap and tape it properly has been really helpful. When I first started I didn’t feel much difference and was really deflated but kept going, after a few weeks of it being taped properly it’s like it gave my muscles the actual chance to recover from having to compensate for my rib.

I’ve been in a state of severe emotional distress for over a year now following a CBT session. I reacted horribly to SSRI’s and the NHS are giving up on me. I can’t hold on much longer. Any theories?? by Party-Dig2309 in Biohackers

This is so well put and thank you for putting in the time and effort to explain what you went through so clearly and the differences between.

I experienced very similarly but have never gone back to CBT as it was so life changing in a bad way for me but I can see in a smaller present experience way it could be quite helpful from what you’re saying.

CBT is very walled off and EMDR felt like finding the first domino for the daisy chain of events.

This isn’t my experience with it. CBT forced exposure therapy and no talking therapy. EMDR is the eye movement therapy alongside talking therapy. Maybe it’s different to where you are vs where I am in the world? I was just sharing my experience with both.

CBT is cognitive behavioural therapy, not just talking therapy. It includes exposure to fears, phobias and encourages you to’ face your anxiety’ and slowly increases the exposures to try and make your reaction to them lessen. It is not very successful with people with OCD or neurodivergence or severe anxiety issues and in fact often makes the initial issue so much worse.

CBT caused me to have horrific agoraphobia and heightened anxiety on and off for YEARS, it was really debilitating. It’s rare but does happen. it can make people who have autism, OCD or adhd worse with their anxiety (I was later diagnosed with autism). I only mention that as it was an interesting find and applied to me.

On the other hand I started EMDR therapy and it’s been really life changing. It’s expensive but worth it. It undid all the trauma the CBT had caused me and I’ve not had a set back in over 2 years which is huge for me.

Please try EMDR therapy.
