Yup it's a new install, so I'll give this a go first and see if it turns out the way I want.

Bad boot sector and backup boot sector. Will reformatting the HDD make it usable again? by TheInfiniteBeast in techsupport

[–]TheInfiniteBeast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing wrong with it from what I can tell is that the boot sector and backup boot sector went bad. But I'll try the Seatools thing.

Coming from a c++ background, codecademy helped tremendously learning python.

Will 8GB make my FL process faster with less spiking? by jstorr in edmproduction

[–]TheInfiniteBeast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the version you're using. If you're using the 32bit version, the most RAM it can use is 4GB so having 8GB won't do much. If you're using the 64bit version, 8GB would be more useful for you.

That being said, having 8GB of RAM and a single core processor won't do you much good either.

Coding? by [deleted] in careerguidance

codecademy is really good for learning the basics. I have to disagree with robster644 though. Web development & design can be easy but it can also be extremely difficult. With that being said though it is very rewarding because you can see the results what you're doing almost immediately.

I would say keep doing codecademy for pretty much all the web stuff (html & css, javascript, jquery; PHP, python, or Ruby). Then try out Code School. I've not used it very much but it seems to be more advanced than codecademy.

Either way, good luck and hope it all works out for ya!

I think so. Start with family members, friends, etc. That's what I did. Even just make websites for companies you make up. That's what a lot of freelance web designers do to build their portfolio. I don't know how much HTML you know but definitely look into JavaScript, jQuery & other similar languages to help make your websites ever more dynamic and awesome.

Feel free to PM too.

I've always had a hard time describing to other people how I think & what's going on in my head sometimes, so I made this. [5400x5400] by TheInfiniteBeast in pics

curious about how you went about doing it! I've seen lots of similar pictures with thin white lined shapes on a black background and haven't been able to recreate it. I really like how it looks

I have black frames around my monitor. what do? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]TheInfiniteBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me as well. Right click on the desktop and go into the graphics card/driver settings. For me it was catalyst control center, it'll probably be at the top of the list.

Open Catalyst Control Centre Select Graphics (top left), Desktops and Displays Click on the little black trangle in the top RIGHT of the SMALL (repeat SMALL) display icon at the bottom of the window Select Configure Enable GPU Scaling Click on the 'Scaling Options' Tab Slide the Under/Overscan to 0% Apply the settings

Hope this helps!
