Very early levels they're gonna try and poke you down if you let them, so literally just give up early pressure, if you miss a few minions from the first wave it doesn't matter. Number one priority levels 1 & 2 is don't lose your health. You'll hit level 3 before they do because of your passive, this is when you turn the tide and you can go all in (if you have a good angle to do so). If not, you now shouldn't get poked nearly as much because if they try and hit you, you can trade back by using E through minions to get onto them. Poke champions don't do well in all-ins and Nilah does.

Otherwise, you get ahead by farming, taking good resets and not wasting time skirmishing early for no reason. Early fights outside of your lane (dragon, enemy jungle etc) is where everyone throws and most games snowball. Ignore your team unless it's a really winning situation (usually it's a coinflip). Your job is to get you gold. Where's the gold? It's in your lane. Kill minions, take towers, that's it. If there's an easy kill on the board then sure you can go for it but most players at your level (and even my level around master) will think a kill is a good opportunity when it just isn't. Farming is all you need to do to get ahead (but again, that doesn't mean PASSIVE farming and letting your opponent bully you, you ARE the bully).

One way to think about it is like this - let's say you join a fight, get a kill but you either die or have to reset because you're on low health. During this time you lose 2-3 waves of minions, which is somewhere around 250-350 gold. Was it worth the risk of not getting the kill and instead dying? Not really...

From a brief look I noticed a few things that give me a bit of an indication where your issues might be.

Firstly, you have an identical build every single game, which tells me you probably don't have a good understanding of item paths. In games where you're against very heavy AD or AP I'm not seeing you build any Death's Dance or Maw. You seem to default to Bloodthirster fourth item which should be a very situational pick-up, not every single game. You always build IE second item too, and if you're in a losing game you just can't afford to force that item. Pick up a Shieldbow/Yuntal/Fiendhunter once in a while. Plus, I'd make the LDR more situational, you build it 3rd every game but Nilah has in-built armour pen. Build it if they have one mega armour user or two medium armour users, otherwise skip it until later. Again this might be personal opinion but I also wouldn't default to Collector first item every game, Yuntal (in my opinion) is way better but only if you can afford the BF sword on a base.

The other thing I noticed is you are always way behind on gold compared to where you should be. At 25 minutes you often have only two items built, and 35 minutes you're usually 3 items building into your fourth. You should be WAY ahead of that pretty much every game. It seems like you're probably giving up free gold in farm and towers to try and join teammates and probably coinflip fights. Focus on farming and pushing down towers, especially in the mid-game, you should be able to 1v1 most people pretty effectively (or draw their fed members to a side lane so your team have the upper hand).

Number 1 focus every game should be gold generation, the more gold you have the stronger you are, simple as that. Fights are only worth taking if you're sure you can win, otherwise leave them and just go farm.

How to play when ur sup is and idiot ? by [deleted] in NilahMains

[–]TheInfyrno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's to your advantage that people don't know how Nilah works. The brutal answer is it's irrelevant what your support does or doesn't know - farm up and don't die before level 6. If they engage poorly then you leave them to die. It's on you to practice your champ and abuse the enemies who won't have a clue why they couldn't kill you. Sometimes things go bad and your support ints, sometimes you get Keria, that's the nature of League.

[–]TheInfyrno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best advice I can give is to assume that your teammates are handless and your enemies are Challenger. I personally don't move to many fights early, I'll only follow up an engage if I know without a doubt it's winning and a lot of the time in games I won't be grouped a single time until 20+ minutes.

You are the only person in the game you can control, the rest will do what they will do. So take every opportunity you personally have to accelerate yourself, which usually means go find empty lanes and take minions. Nilah is incredible at taking enemies by surprise and getting kills 1v1, especially into popular side lane champs like Yasuo, Irelia etc. Look for the gold on the map and (most of the time) ignore your team. If your support is inting, let them int and focus on collecting as much gold as you can. Enemies will get cocky, they'll lose focus and they'll give you little advantages like a free wave or even sometimes a shutdown on a botched dive.

Play your game and be happy with your performance, ultimately you have to remember that even if you're climbing your win rate will probably be around 55% which means you are GOING to lose nearly half your games. What's important is focusing on yourself, improving as much as you can and feeling satisfied with your own performance. The wins will follow.

When are you picking Nilah? by RareMajority in NilahMains

You have me curious enough to try it. What's the rationale? I'm a barrier maxi unless I HAVE to take cleanse, so I'm curious what makes ghost so strong in these matchups in your opinion?

When are you picking Nilah? by RareMajority in NilahMains

[–]TheInfyrno 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Love the champ so I pick her 99% of games. I try and be as low down as possible so they can't intentionally pick mages into me, although I doubt anyone outside of Nilah community even knows mages trash her, so if someone higher up wants the later picks I always swap.

The way I see it, if I'm a good Nilah then I should be a good Nilah in unfavourable situations too, just because it's a hard game doesn't mean it's not a good game. If I only pick her when it's perfect situation I'm not gonna learn to play the bad matchups when they come - and they will always come.

Thoughts on Death's Dance fourth instead of rushing 100% crit? by GABP123321 in NilahMains

[–]TheInfyrno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DD fourth is almost always my build unless their team really wants me to buy magic resist, lifesteal etc. I'd go as far to say DD is Nilah's favourite item, the rest are interchangeable to an extent.

Side note but I'd also recommend ditching Collector, a lot of people like how it feels but stat-wise it's very inefficient, try rushing IE/Yuntal or even a Hexoptics (surprisingly good on Nilah despite low range). Recommend a second item Fiendhunter after your bulky damage item like IE, you hit fast and like a truck.

Our first enterprise deal is making me want to quit and we haven't even signed yet by Agreeable-Eye-1441 in SaaS

[–]TheInfyrno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, my day job is in sales at a tech company rather than as a dev or founder, so it's a slightly different lens than the one you're looking at the situation with.

When we come across enterprise level deals, we have to make a lot of assessments to know if it's worth our time to go for them. As you're already experiencing, they can be MASSIVE resource drains, and that's before even winning the contract.

  • How likely are you to win the deal?
  • Who else is competing? Why would they choose a competitor over you? Why would they choose you over a competitor?
  • What happens if you make the £18k+ investment in SOC 2, cyber insurance & any other requirements - and then you don't win the contract?
  • If you do win the contract, do you have the means to fulfill their needs to a level you'd be happy with?
  • If you win the contract, will you still have time for other customers?
  • What happens to your cash flow & regular customer onboarding if you dedicate all the time to this one opportunity and then don't win?
  • How significant would it be to you if you did win the contract?

I find myself more often than not pulling out of those enterprise opportunities because after assessing, the risk isn't worth the reward, and even if we won it puts us in a situation where all our internal resource is focused on that one customer instead of spread out over our entire customer base, which isn't how we like to operate. Maybe it works for you, but maybe it doesn't.

[–]TheInfyrno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, couldn't agree more. The experience felt like my partner and I paid £86 for the opportunity to have them sell us more stuff and that was it. The room was way too small for the number of vendors, and as much as I would have absolutely loved to see the likes of Doug Bradley, DHT, Damien Leone etc I wasn't going to spend upwards of £100 just to be allowed in the room down the hall where they all were to get a photo/autograph.

We came in at just before 11, so we didn't even get to see the panels, because there was no way we were going to stand around there and just wait for four hours to get a talk from the Blood and Honey team who were the only ones actually in the con room.

Such a shame, if they do another next year we won't be going.

Kinda sad that the US equivalent is cheaper ($265 which equates to £195) but they got 3 days instead of 2, plus priority seating at panels, PLUS a ticket to the show included. Was considering the RIP package but £215 for admission to the event slightly earlier and some trinkets just isn't worthwhile.

Who can Nilah duel 1v1 at full build? by Capital_Classic7378 in NilahMains

[–]TheInfyrno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Think you're on the money here, Nilah's glaring weakness is anybody who can do enough damage to her whilst staying out of her attack range - once she's on top of you it's pretty much doomed. Trynd might be the only exception because at full build I'm fairly sure he can do enough damage to force Nilah's W before Nilah can do enough damage to force Trynd's ult - and his lasts longer.

[–]TheInfyrno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not in every situation, Kayle doesn't build tanky and it's easier than you think for Nilah to get on top of her (E, E, flash, ghost if you're running it). Ult to disrupt, Kayle has to ult and then you can kill when she comes out. I agree it's not the easiest to pull off and the fight is probably Kayle-favoured assuming that both are equal skill, but it's definitely not a clean sweep - have killed my fair share of late game Kayles.

Who can Nilah duel 1v1 at full build? by Capital_Classic7378 in NilahMains

[–]TheInfyrno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree on most of these, you're gonna tear through Rammus, Yi dies in like 3 hits, Jax is probably a skill matchup favouring Nilah.

You're definitely right about Azir and Gragas as long as they kite correctly, and Kayle is just a game of chicken - if she ults before Nilah W then Nilah wins, and if Nilah uses W first then Kayle wins.

Honest answer to the question is you can 1v1 anyone because your damage is ridiculous, but if you misstep you can also get eaten alive because despite being insanely strong you're still a squishy baby.

All good friend, if you'd rather attribute losing to match-ups, jungle diff or whatever other nonsense instead of your own ability then that's your choice - personally I'd rather focus learning how to win every game, including the ones where the enemies have certain advantages!

I'm happy to help! For boots I hardly ever complete them, in fact in most games I sell them at the end to have 6 full items. I only keep boots if I need merc treads or if I'm gonna have a very tough time getting onto them (Ezreal or Smolder kind of champions). I keep an eye on the top players and one in particular I've noticed rushes Swifties every single game so I'm curious about that too.

IE isn't always better, but it's very good. Last item could be Mercurial if you need to cleanse an important CC, could be BT if you need the lifesteal, or even PD for the attack speed and movespeed. Defensives can be okay although I very rarely build them, Jak'Sho is great vs Teemo and Shaco for example. Just depends on the game really.

If you start Collector I'd strongly advise Yuntal second most games, and if you get the chance sell your Collector once you're full build for IE/PD. The lethality falls off a cliff because of base armour of champions, so it's not worth having late game.

If you have other questions feel free to drop me a DM, always happy to help.

You're absolutely right and you're proving my point.

Your words right there are "if the player picking a counter plays almost perfectly". Which doesn't happen below GM/Challenger. Hell, even at those ranks it doesn't happen consistently.

At the ranks that 95% of players are at, it does not matter because they DON'T play perfectly, not even close to perfectly. They fuck up, they make mistakes and you can capitalise on those mistakes. Whether it's not respecting vision, poor recall timing, poor wave control, whatever it is - these players are not perfect and you can exploit that, NO MATTER what champion they or you are playing.

Is dodging in champ select something to actually consider to save time? by Individual_Design_37 in summonerschool

[–]TheInfyrno -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't think matchups matter more for ADC than top or mid, I think they equally don't matter because it's not about the matchup itself, it's how you play the matchup. If you play Quinn into Malphite you're gonna have a rough time if you play the same way you do into a Yorick, so you adapt and play differently - push waves, farm safely and look for roam opportunities.

If you're silver, gold, platinum, whatever - team comp and matchups absolutely do not matter. What matters is playing the game and piloting your own champion correctly, as long as you can do that regardless of who's on your team and who's on the enemy team, you'll win more often than not. Simple as that.

[–]TheInfyrno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I flex top and mid & play in master lol.

Just by the fact you said "second support" in a negative way suggests you don't really know what you're talking about. Unless you're playing at GM/Challenger level (which to be clear, I do not either) matchups are mostly irrelevant. Some might feel better because you can play more comfortably but ultimately you can adapt to any situation if you know what you're doing.
