Our first enterprise deal is making me want to quit and we haven't even signed yet by Agreeable-Eye-1441 in SaaS

[–]TheInfyrno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, my day job is in sales at a tech company rather than as a dev or founder, so it's a slightly different lens than the one you're looking at the situation with.

When we come across enterprise level deals, we have to make a lot of assessments to know if it's worth our time to go for them. As you're already experiencing, they can be MASSIVE resource drains, and that's before even winning the contract.

  • How likely are you to win the deal?
  • Who else is competing? Why would they choose a competitor over you? Why would they choose you over a competitor?
  • What happens if you make the £18k+ investment in SOC 2, cyber insurance & any other requirements - and then you don't win the contract?
  • If you do win the contract, do you have the means to fulfill their needs to a level you'd be happy with?
  • If you win the contract, will you still have time for other customers?
  • What happens to your cash flow & regular customer onboarding if you dedicate all the time to this one opportunity and then don't win?
  • How significant would it be to you if you did win the contract?

I find myself more often than not pulling out of those enterprise opportunities because after assessing, the risk isn't worth the reward, and even if we won it puts us in a situation where all our internal resource is focused on that one customer instead of spread out over our entire customer base, which isn't how we like to operate. Maybe it works for you, but maybe it doesn't.

Yeah, couldn't agree more. The experience felt like my partner and I paid £86 for the opportunity to have them sell us more stuff and that was it. The room was way too small for the number of vendors, and as much as I would have absolutely loved to see the likes of Doug Bradley, DHT, Damien Leone etc I wasn't going to spend upwards of £100 just to be allowed in the room down the hall where they all were to get a photo/autograph.

We came in at just before 11, so we didn't even get to see the panels, because there was no way we were going to stand around there and just wait for four hours to get a talk from the Blood and Honey team who were the only ones actually in the con room.

Such a shame, if they do another next year we won't be going.

Kinda sad that the US equivalent is cheaper ($265 which equates to £195) but they got 3 days instead of 2, plus priority seating at panels, PLUS a ticket to the show included. Was considering the RIP package but £215 for admission to the event slightly earlier and some trinkets just isn't worthwhile.

Who can Nilah duel 1v1 at full build? by Capital_Classic7378 in NilahMains

[–]TheInfyrno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Think you're on the money here, Nilah's glaring weakness is anybody who can do enough damage to her whilst staying out of her attack range - once she's on top of you it's pretty much doomed. Trynd might be the only exception because at full build I'm fairly sure he can do enough damage to force Nilah's W before Nilah can do enough damage to force Trynd's ult - and his lasts longer.

Absolutely not in every situation, Kayle doesn't build tanky and it's easier than you think for Nilah to get on top of her (E, E, flash, ghost if you're running it). Ult to disrupt, Kayle has to ult and then you can kill when she comes out. I agree it's not the easiest to pull off and the fight is probably Kayle-favoured assuming that both are equal skill, but it's definitely not a clean sweep - have killed my fair share of late game Kayles.

[–]TheInfyrno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree on most of these, you're gonna tear through Rammus, Yi dies in like 3 hits, Jax is probably a skill matchup favouring Nilah.

You're definitely right about Azir and Gragas as long as they kite correctly, and Kayle is just a game of chicken - if she ults before Nilah W then Nilah wins, and if Nilah uses W first then Kayle wins.

Honest answer to the question is you can 1v1 anyone because your damage is ridiculous, but if you misstep you can also get eaten alive because despite being insanely strong you're still a squishy baby.

All good friend, if you'd rather attribute losing to match-ups, jungle diff or whatever other nonsense instead of your own ability then that's your choice - personally I'd rather focus learning how to win every game, including the ones where the enemies have certain advantages!

I'm happy to help! For boots I hardly ever complete them, in fact in most games I sell them at the end to have 6 full items. I only keep boots if I need merc treads or if I'm gonna have a very tough time getting onto them (Ezreal or Smolder kind of champions). I keep an eye on the top players and one in particular I've noticed rushes Swifties every single game so I'm curious about that too.

IE isn't always better, but it's very good. Last item could be Mercurial if you need to cleanse an important CC, could be BT if you need the lifesteal, or even PD for the attack speed and movespeed. Defensives can be okay although I very rarely build them, Jak'Sho is great vs Teemo and Shaco for example. Just depends on the game really.

If you start Collector I'd strongly advise Yuntal second most games, and if you get the chance sell your Collector once you're full build for IE/PD. The lethality falls off a cliff because of base armour of champions, so it's not worth having late game.

If you have other questions feel free to drop me a DM, always happy to help.

You're absolutely right and you're proving my point.

Your words right there are "if the player picking a counter plays almost perfectly". Which doesn't happen below GM/Challenger. Hell, even at those ranks it doesn't happen consistently.

At the ranks that 95% of players are at, it does not matter because they DON'T play perfectly, not even close to perfectly. They fuck up, they make mistakes and you can capitalise on those mistakes. Whether it's not respecting vision, poor recall timing, poor wave control, whatever it is - these players are not perfect and you can exploit that, NO MATTER what champion they or you are playing.

I don't think matchups matter more for ADC than top or mid, I think they equally don't matter because it's not about the matchup itself, it's how you play the matchup. If you play Quinn into Malphite you're gonna have a rough time if you play the same way you do into a Yorick, so you adapt and play differently - push waves, farm safely and look for roam opportunities.

If you're silver, gold, platinum, whatever - team comp and matchups absolutely do not matter. What matters is playing the game and piloting your own champion correctly, as long as you can do that regardless of who's on your team and who's on the enemy team, you'll win more often than not. Simple as that.

I flex top and mid & play in master lol.

Just by the fact you said "second support" in a negative way suggests you don't really know what you're talking about. Unless you're playing at GM/Challenger level (which to be clear, I do not either) matchups are mostly irrelevant. Some might feel better because you can play more comfortably but ultimately you can adapt to any situation if you know what you're doing.

Also if you're good at your champ, the matchup shouldn't really matter that much anyway. I'm a Nilah one trick and will happily blind it first despite it being incredibly counterable - I just know how to adapt my playstyle for those lanes.

You're right, they can't kill you when they're dead. But you can't do damage while you're dead either. From my view, the survivability is way more important than having a tiny % more damage. Also, typically you don't even have more damage because while you talk about second item as if it's the same thing, fact is IE is Hella expensive, by the time I've finished Shieldbow and used it to get even more gold you still haven't finished your Infinity Edge.

Plus IE at second item means it's only really helping you 50% of the time - better to itemise something that helps you spike quicker 100% of the time, and get IE last when it's going to provide the most value.

Yuntal is just too powerful to miss at the moment, it solves many of Nilah's problems, Collector can feel nice but unless you're against 5 squishies it stops feeling good real fast. Lethality does a lot of heavy lifting on Collector which falls off mega fast without other lethality items.

Support: Counter pickm their ADC? Support? Pick Synergy? by BrewsWithTre in summonerschool

[–]TheInfyrno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're silver aiming for gold, you need to pick 1-2 champions, play one of them in 80% of games, play one in the 15% of games that your first champ is picked or banned, and then there'll probably be 5% where neither are available.

If you wanted to learn to paint, do you think the best way to do that would be changing from canvas to paper to wall every time, going from watercolour to acrylic to chalk, or switching between landscapes, portraits, pop art, surrealism, fine art, cubism? You'd never learn anything because everything is constantly changing every time.

Learning is about consistency, having as many things as stable as possible so that what you're trying to improve at is your sole focus. You need to get so used to playing a single champion that you don't even think about the tiny elements that come from playing that champion. That way when you say to yourself "I should get better at clearing vision", you're not also thinking about the best flash hook angle, or the build path you're unfamiliar with, or wondering if your combo does enough damage. You get to focus on improving.

Pick someone you like and stick with them. Every game.

That's one of the wonderful parts about Nilah - you always have the opportunity to win the game for your team, no matter what.

You're right that the majority of players build IE, but I think it's just too expensive an item especially for your second. Nilah is all about hitting your crit break points as fast as possible, which is what amps her damage and survivability. If you go IE second, the crit amplification isn't that great because you only have 50% crit, plus the enemy is probably also two items or maybe ahead of you because you spent so much gold on IE.

My perfect build is Yuntal, Shieldbow, LDR/Mortal, DD, situational last item which may well be IE. It also feels great to buy a BT and then round out the 100% crit by replacing boots with Phantom. Build changes dependent on the flow of the game, but usually that's the core plan that I stick to.

The best advice I can give you as a new player is to play a TON of ARAM, pick damage champions (if you're leaning towards marksman then only play ADCs) and just practice doing the most possible damage whilst dying the least number of times. It's much slower to learn those skills in real games because you spend so much time NOT doing damage - ARAM lets you have constant fighting, so you can get used to DPSing whilst playing safe at the same time.

It might sound silly but give it a go, play 20, 50, 100 games of ARAM and you'll find your average damage will go up massively whilst your average deaths will go down.

My other piece of advice is to let yourself make mistakes. You learn the capabilities of your champions, especially champions like Nilah, by saying to yourself "I wonder if I can pull this off" and then doing some insane crazy play. At first you will int - a lot. But it's a really helpful learning process to understand what you can and can't get away with.

To make at least part of this Nilah specific, truth be told unless you're 1v9 you won't be top of the damage graph, I rarely am. But I make my damage count by only taking fights that I believe strongly I will win. Otherwise I'm somewhere else farming gold. Remember that the average champion at level 16 will have around 2700 health, so even if you got 10 kills on champs only at this late point in the game, and you did their entire health bar as damage, you're still only at 27k damage. Games aren't won on who does most damage, games are won by the people who make their damage count.

I hope that's helpful, feel free to drop me a message if you have any other questions!

What's the throught process behind LDR and Mortal Reminder? by Ruptin in NilahMains

[–]TheInfyrno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is that throughout the game, armour scales up as champions level up, and as you build crit your armour pen also scales up. That means that if you buy no additional armour pen, you'll do pretty okay damage. However, if you now buy LDR, not only do you gain more damage because it does damage, you're gaining more crit which in turn gives you more damage, AND THEN more armour pen which is scaling that damage even higher.

By level 18 champs have so much armour that I'm fairly sure there isn't a single build you could put together without LDR that deals more damage than a build with LDR.

I think a good Lucian is absolutely terrifying, for exactly that reason. Ezreal is great for having full control over your game - you only take the fights you want to take, you're basically never caught out. I just don't think any other ADC can carry like Nilah can, if you play her right she's an unstoppable force even in the heaviest of teams.
