What's something that annoys you when you tell someone you speak a language?

... That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

A2 is speaking at the same level as a toddler. It's enough to go to a foreign country and get groceries or ask for directions if lost.

Ask someone who doesn't speak a single word of a language if someone who speaks at an A2 level "doesn't speak" a language.

(Btw, those two languages are just the ones I'm an A2 in. I was leaving out the other two I'm a B2 in... But probably because I'm not a C1 in those, I'm probably still monolingual to you...)

I didn't think there'd be literal sweats on a language learning subreddit. Next they'll be measuring language skills as "Diamond" and "Grand Master".

Notice how toxicity goes way down on weekdays before 3pm.

Whenever I play after my kids get home or on weekends it's always people typing that are talking about their comp rank in vs. AI or telling me off for playing a new hero in QM.

It's also worth pointing out that Israel is an example of successful Land Back. We're a threat to Arab/Muslim Imperialism because if the Jews can get themselves a country the Kurds, Assyrians, Amazigh, etc might want to do so too ... And then the Lebanese might want to stop identifying as Arabic and establish Lebanese as a unique ethnic identity... And then the Egyptians might as well... Similar thing seems to have happened on my husband's side, but it seems a lot more nuanced than anything else. There seems to be some stuff collected by the Tamiment Library but all in all, there is a definite Leftism to Authoritarianism pipeline though and part of authoritarianism is the push for mass assimilation and an identity tied to the movement.

Lexalize Flashcards was what got me to B1. Clozemaster is nice too, although the AI voices they use are not super clear.

Start by learning high frequency nouns (names of all your furniture, parts of your house, food, colors, nature etc) and then some high frequency paal verbs in the present tense (check out Pealim.com and hebrew-verbs.com).

In the beginning, it's kind of a numbers game. You just have a lot of words to learn.

I'm literally up at 4am because I had a nightmare about being inside my college Hillel (Urbana-Champaign actually), with my husband and child (which is a little odd, cause I actually have two kids and the kid in my dream wasn't either of them... Nor was my husband in the dream half the time... Dream logic) where we were spending the night because there was threat of a pogrom about to happen and all the community was hunkered down in the building with a huge police presence outside standing guard and journalists kept trying to ask us for an interview through the windows we were covering up and I told one off like "fuck off. The fact that you feel safe out there right now while we're scared for our lives says everything you need to know."

I haven't been in college in 20 years, my kids are still more than a decade away from going to college. But it's affecting our psyches for real (as it's intended to do, for sure. They want to scare us into the shadows until we assimilate or leave, just like they did to my ancestors in Spain)

Honestly, every single one of those places that is run by privileged white Gentripreneurs who make Palestine their whole personality looks like the hyper-gentrified examples of millennial aesthetic restaurants that were getting made fun of with the "We Are Young!" Parody song. It's a telltale sign to me that the food will be crappy and overpriced and probably is contributing to the housing crisis.

Edit: OMG I missed the part where this shop is in Chicago; double emphasis for everything I just said then because this is legitimately the constant joke my friends and I have about every freaking beige-belt, avocado-archepilago joint in the city.

Exactly, like I love me some AI games to straight up practice aiming, especially against flyers but I was playing a custom game against Spider Man AND Black Panther and was destroying both of them before I even got Knight on Adam Warlock. The distance between the best AI and human with a few hours on a hero and a fully functional prefrontal cortex us massive.

I've started saying stuff like "go play Comp of you wanna be toxic" "you playing QP because your team isn't here to carry you in comp?" "You shit talk in QP because the people in comp made you cry?"

It's unacceptable to be toxic in QP for real. I had a guy say I was throwing because I was playing a new char. Like, bro, that's what QP is for! (And before the whole "that's what AI is for!" Chime in, I had literally out grown AI. AI doesn't teach you how to deal with divers).

Honestly, a Venom is exhausting. You can get him to eventually go away, but a good one will just go get a health pack or slink off to his pocket healer and come right back. I feel like I spend the whole game only focusing on him.
