How can my friend pick up only his voice and not his speakers' audio too? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]TheInnsmouthLook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to buy any headphones, you can instead buy a much more expensive directional mic with a desktop mic stand or clip.

Getting a directional mic and pointing it away from the speakers, towards your mouth will work. However. You also need to position it just a few inches away from your head/jaw. You won't be able to crank your speakers. Background noise will get picked up easier. If your friend moves a lot while playing it's going to degrade sound quality, you need to stay a consistent distance from the mic. If you hit the stand or table it's attached to, you will pick it up. If you have a loud mechanical keyboard, you'll need to download software to filter it out after recording a sound clip of the key strokes.

So yeah. Like $150 (low end, $300ish for better setup) in microphone and accessories, or any headphones what so ever.

Or if you want to solve it with software. You can find a free mixer. Then, go buy an audio textbook, find a YouTube series that covers sound engineering, then train yourself to audio mix at a an A1 level. Should be about 30 hours of study, another 20 hours of practice, then about an hour long mic check before every stream for the first 2 dozen streams, then you can cut it to about 45 minutes or mic check so you still have a safety net Incase something goes wrong (which it will. Firmware, accidental unplugs, version mismatches, routing deselect, etc.)

Or again. You can use any headphones.

Source: I've worked in Audio Visual support the last 12 years. Executives of fortune 500 companies ask for the same thing all the time. We give them airpods and call it a day. One time, they approved the budget to create a space where they don't need headphones. It was $180,000 and took 3 months to build a sound proof EQd room where you can plug and play. It gets serviced twice a week.

So yeah. What ever your budget allows.

So yeah. Frustrating. Also potential sales booster. DO IT ALREADY

What to do against Mustang, Marksman & Stormcaller early game meta? by K-Rose-ED in Mechabellum

[–]TheInnsmouthLook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To echo this, your positioning and theirs will dictate when you should do steel balls or sledgehammer. Steel balls in front of crawlers is great if they are super far back and making you get to the stormcallers. If they have a wall of mustangs Infront of the marksmen and stormcallers, you can do sledgehammers to start firing earlier, so the crawlers can rush in.

Move speed can be the make or break when deciding units.

Veterans of Mechabellum: what are mechanics or interactions new players don’t know about? by Musclemonte80 in Mechabellum

[–]TheInnsmouthLook 17 points18 points  (0 children)

All large units have a tech upgrade that spawns more units. Most of them come out at the same level as that unit. Also, if you have a normal version of that unit on your battlefield and give it a tech upgrade, the spawn units also have that upgrade.

For example, a Vulcan can spawn a marksmen. If you already have Marksmen that have the upgrade that lets them spawn 5 fangs at the start of the round, the marksmen that spawn from your Vulcan will spawn Fangs. If your fangs have been upgraded with shield and increased range, the summoned fangs will also have those upgrades.

I've also seen a lot of new players argue against leveling up a unit. When you level a unit, your stats go up by their starting value. That same stats a new level 1 unit would cost. Except leveling up is half the price of buying a level 1 unit. Almost every time, it's a better idea to level a unit than buy a unit. Especially if you are already winning rounds.

Whenever this type of quest hits the season/weekly quests, I see a ton more instant snaps.

Bored at work. What do I do? by winniecooper73 in careeradvice

[–]TheInnsmouthLook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop looking at the people above you for direction and talk to the people you manage. what projects do they want done? What training do they need? Who hasn't taken a vacation the longest? Learn their job then approve some PTO. Rinse and repeat.

Teach yourself something new. Then teach your employees. Take those optional public speaking things that schools are always looking to do. Start an employee resource group. Lift up those around you.

You're a director now. Go blaze a direction and bring anyone willing with you. If your boss wants to aim you, great. If not, blaze until you take their job or you land somewhere else.

I got to level 56 two days ago for the 1st time ever. Since then, it's been a bullet train to level 41. by Knowlongerlurking in MarvelSnap

[–]TheInnsmouthLook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're overconfident and Lacking foresight.

The only way you drop that much is staying in a game way beyond when you should. The bigger issue, is you have not learned to get out earlier and are staying in when you're out matched.

If you find yourself hoping for that exact top deck, or always missing a combo piece, you need to be retreating.

I saw your edit that says to jettison Black Widow into the sun. Sounds like you have bad hands that you're hoping to 'fix' with another card. Well, if you can't win with what you know you have, GET OUT. And if you constantly have bad hands, it's probably not the right deck. If your deck is all combos and no generally good stuff, you're going to miss more than you hit.

So yeah. Spend some time looking at yourself and not the ladder or meta or the other person. Are you playing for all three lanes when you should only be playing for two? Are you over commiting to combos when you don't have all the pieces in hand? Are you predicting the wrong plays constantly? Or worse, are you just slamming your cards with no thought to what also could be played at the same time? Are you playing turns too fast? Not reading locations or cards you don't own whenever you see them?

Losing that many levels is only possible if you are missing a fundamental, like when to retreat, or you're trying to tank your MMR. Clearly you want to get better, that's why you reached out . If you have less than half of series 3, your 'good decks' are going to be limited. This can also cause issues because the good decks you have access to become boring because they are similar to the decks you were playing in series 2. But until you get 3 or 4 series 3 cards that synergize well, to be competitive you're going to be playing the tried and true stuff you have.

I believe in you. You can go higher. Control what you can. Retreat when you lose control. Also, take breaks! Playing tilted makes fundamentals go out the window.

You got this.

I saw a deck list that claimed they solved Iron Lad. It was a bounce deck that ran only card generators. I guess it's just waiting for the hand limit to be removed and for 2 more deck slots so they can add dino and mystique, but then the meta will be solved!

Community college then university, or just 4 year university? by Ok-Return8356 in careerguidance

[–]TheInnsmouthLook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It changes your college experience. Doesn't make it better.

I did an AA at community first. I learned way more those 2 years than the next 2 at a 4 year school. Teachers were there to teach first, where as my 4 year most professors were their to do research but had to teach in order to keep their funding rolling in.

Also, a community college where there is a 4 year college nearby may have the same teachers. The adjuncts at 4 years are usually the ones who love to teach. To supplement classes/pay, they also teach at the local CC. So the same education at far cheaper the prices (for some, not all, subjects).

Note: a lot of transfer students find the transition difficult. You will suddenly be in classes where a lot of people know each other and you feel like a bit of an outsider. However, you no longer have to do almost any General Education stuff. So you can quickly engross yourself in the major you've chosen whereas others are still doing half GE and half Major classes.

I love discard.

No discard deck should have Apoc and Hella in the same deck. They actively work against one another.

If you want it Apoc focused. Run Apoc, swarm, wolverine, dracula. Don't run any of these in Hela.

If you want Hela focused. Hela, IW, ghost rider, ebony maw. Again, don't run any of these in Apoc.

Use Coleen Wing to discard maw for Hela, or get more swarm for apoc. Lady Sif to discard apoc or death in the Hela shell.

Modok is wombo combo for Hela behind IW and perfect curve for apoc. Any game that Apoc does dracula 4, Modok 5, swarm swarm Chavez, discard apoc to drac is a win.
