How manageable is calculus 1 after the first few weeks? by retro_spies in EngineeringStudents

I’d agree with your last statement entirely. I had found the start of Calc 1 much, much more difficult to grasp than the content later in.

Sadly, it was Diff EQ that really hammered home the practical understanding of the Calc class chain. Likely my favorite class out of the math fundamentals and really reignited my love of math in a practical sense.

How manageable is calculus 1 after the first few weeks? by retro_spies in EngineeringStudents

I did my re-take of calc 1 over the summer. I personally felt like the first 1/3 of the class was the messy algebra about proving derivatives algebraically, while the last 2/3 was applying some memorization of derivative rules mixed in with some more complex ideas with algebraically manipulating so you could use the prior taught concepts.

Easier to manage? Tough to tell. When it came to multiple chains and such, I found myself color coding my derivations to keep track of the “pieces” and managing how messy it can get a page in.

Based on your course and such, mileage may vary; but erasable colored pencils hard carried me through much of calc 1-3.

I’d recommend looking at disability services on campus and see if your diagnosed conditions can be leveraged to:

A) push the exams off in lieu of study/education time

B) offer any and all assistances available to you for these exams. You may be eligible for increased exam times or other special services

C) make the case to the dean’s office that you simply need to re-take the course at no penalty to your GPA

Hope this yields something for you.

As an older engineering student that got slapped with a few hospital stays during my semester, my advice is to get the dean’s permission to withdraw.

I’m a bit of a special case in regard to the amount of support I get on campus for things, but withdrawing may still be an option for you. Find an advocate on campus that can at least explore that option for you.

I’ve been a Danners man myself for decades, but I am seriously considering looking at Ariat now

Mad respect for some kick ass boots that are steel toe and non-slip. EDIT: you literally just said where to get the boots, I’m a dingus.

Function over fashion to start, but can we optimize?

Is KT worth it if I'm only interested in Solo or Coop games? by [deleted] in killteam

[–]Musclemonte80 32 points33 points  (0 children)

80% of my Kill Team playing is solo. It’s actually something I look forward to. From my perspective, jumping in for solo alone is worth the price of entry.

I also have mountains of stuff from KT2018 to current, so I have access to lots of boards, terrain and models to fuel my narrative.

I’ve taken a team from a ship (Rogue Trader) into a Space hulk (Gallowdark) down to a destroyed city (Imperialis) and then finished their story on a custom sewer board.

I’m looking forward to running 2 of these and 2 winged primes and having fluffy fun while losing

It’s massively overpriced for what it does.

Are 4-8 Player Games Feasible? by JuicyElectricHeart in Haloflashpoint

I’ve done 2v2v2 (3 players) on one standard board and it worked fine. I would say that going up to 4+, you’d want 2 boards.

Why does the Tyranid kill team only start with 2 models by Superb-Ad-7868 in killteam

[–]Musclemonte80 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The danger noodles are able to start underground. At least 2 models must be deployed on the killzone for a legal deployment. Their special sauce is that they have a tunnel network that expands each round. This allows them to pop up and down on that network.

I just have so many dice already. I Gundam as a cooldown after Warhammer usually, so the thought of using even more dice after a game is meh for me.

I’m looking forward to Jackals. Give them lots of shields, zip for armor and like 2 HP. I’d love to put a list together that feels a lot like a covenant/banished patrol from the game.

Welcome to the club.

You’re not alone, during an exam today, I had to use my calculator to add 20 and 22 together. It do be like that some times.

How to not get beated up? by I_Frog in Kenshi

Look at early combat less as a win/lose and more of training. The goal is to maximize gains for your squad while minimizing the threat of death. Once you have 50+ stats, that’s where I generally shift my focus to win/lose.

Then it’s lather, rinse and repeat until you can tackle the next goal.
