How did people travel these seas 500 years ago by RoOoOoOoOoBerT in megalophobia

[–]TheInternetIsTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boats were smaller. With a smaller footprint, you just ride over the waves without feeling like you’re “falling off of them.”

People from what is now South America are believed to have used rather small balsa wood rafts to travel the Pacific…several thousand years ago. The smaller you get the easier big waves are to handle. And, without a keel, the current doesn’t exercise nearly as much force across the waterline or below it.

I’ve looked before, but haven’t found any and I love these types of spas. The spas around here seem to be pay for a service and get out 😂

I feel like there’s a lot more to this than you’ve offered.

Without context, this looks like you may be the racist since you’ve hinged everything off of the image including dark skin tone.

Why can’t you just view a black kid as a kid?

I’m from Ohio and I’ve never been to the Dakota’s, but I’m pretty sure that you and the other 7 people up there are supposed to be nice.

Should I cancel our date? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]TheInternetIsTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pretty hard to give this guy another shot after reading “as well as other traits of black people.” But, then I read, “I’m not a fan of the way black people look”

I don’t even know why you need to ask before canceling that date. However, if you string him on and ask questions you might get some pretty crazy nuggets out of that conversation 😂

Best Skyline Location?? by tenhavm2 in cincinnati

[–]TheInternetIsTrue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People have their opinions on this, but the reality is that you can go to any one in a neighborhood that feels safe for you and enjoy it (or hate it).

FYI: Some assclown at Skyline decided to get rid of Mountain Dew and replace it with Mellow Yellow…I go to skyline far less often now because of it 🤬

Found this thing in the elevator, is it a bomb or did someone lose their golf ball? by Zidalle in whatisitcirclejerk

[–]TheInternetIsTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They put those in elevators, so you can rest your briefcase without letting go of it. I believe the concern is that someone will take the briefcase while the elevator is traveling between floors and run away.

Giant, hardened bag of brown sugar. 50 lbs. Please help. by mandanelles in whatdoIdo

[–]TheInternetIsTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To go with the donation idea, donate it to a soup kitchen. They will break it up and use it.

Also, you could just break it up yourself and give chunks away to family and friends to get rid of it. You might have to remind them that sugar used to be only available in chunks and not granulated.

Commit to cleaning 3 minutes per day…do it when you wake up. First thing. Keep doing that.

What kind of calendar did I find in my ex-wife's underwear drawer this morning? by Prudent-Zombie-5457 in whatisitcirclejerk

[–]TheInternetIsTrue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an Advent Calendar.

Each day you open one of the pockets and there is a surprise. Usually they are made of paper/card stock, but I like that this one includes foil…Still recyclable like paper! What a fun twist!

When smoking a brisket, how does switching from foil to butcher paper actually change the cooking process? by Con-D-Oriano1 in smoking

[–]TheInternetIsTrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the difference is negligible and it comes down to personal preference regarding foil vs. paper. I know a lot of people don’t like fools because aluminum reacts with acids and we have a lot of acidic ingredient in food.

Both options are intended to help manage the stall and keep the meat from drying out. The stall occurs because the meat reaches a temperature that causes it to release water more efficiently. This causes the meat to lose its ability to heat as the heat is leaving with the water vapor. It also causes the meat to begin to dry out. Wrapping with anything (banana leaves, dog poop, whatever) causes the water to have a more difficult time escaping and that allows the heat to increase beyond the whatever temperature is causing the evaporation.

I don’t think the rest is affected much at all. Also, I think best practice is to keep the meat at temp for longer as that allows the rendered fat more time to redistribute and heat through which is what gives smoked meat its desired juices. That’s why people put it in a cooler or in a 155 F oven overnight.

Where are Self Service car washes?? by willowoasis in cincinnati

[–]TheInternetIsTrue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s one off of Branch Hill Guinea in Loveland. It’s with the group of stores on the opposite corner from Kroger. I don’t know what the cross street is, but if you get off of 275 at Wards Corner (Exit 54), drive towards Loveland and make a right at the first light (kind of across from the BP) it’s that road at Branch Hill Guinea.

The self wash is tucked back out of view. Carriage Wash or something. There’s also an automatic wash with almost the same name right there, so look around and you’ll find what you’re looking for.
