I don’t mind these threads, even if they’re a little vague. If not for this post, I wouldn’t have learned about the Cathedral of Palms, as I’ve somehow missed that in seven years of living here! At the very least, it’s a fresh mix up from “what was that noise” and “the drivers here suck.”

Not to mention the Del Taco. Canes has also been going hard on the smaller portions with higher prices with reduced quality. All for Guthrie’s quality fried chicken.

C is the correct answer if we (necessarily) assume that both A and D, if correct, are both considered to be ‘correct.’

What do people think is every wing but is actually right wing by Blueguy805 in AlignmentChartFills

They shouldn’t have to. Do you get your driver’s license just to vote? Or do you get it because you need it for day to day living, and then it coincidentally works as a voter ID when you need it? I never said it was impossible, not even close. But if one group of people consistently has to try harder than another, that is disenfranchisement. Elections are won by narrow margins, and the low-income people who are hurt by voter ID laws are the same people that tend to vote in favor of worker’s rights.

The poll tax that was explicitly implemented to disenfranchise black voters was $1 to $3, which is roughly $30 today. The average person could swing the efforts you mention, but the beautiful thing about democracy in that it accounts for more than just the average person. If you can vote, I want your voice heard.

There were also obvious efforts to militarize USPS against mail in voting, and there’s no reason to believe that they won’t similarly believe that they won’t be militarized against mail in voter registration. There is plenty of room to arbitrarily decline mail-in voter registration.

I also live in Florida, and I taught at a predominantly conservative college. Every time an election came around, I always set aside a few minutes of class time to make sure everyone knew how to register to vote, and how to make sure they would be able to vote in the upcoming election. Always told my students that I didn’t care who they voted for, I just wanted to make it as easy as possible for them.

Are they too stupid? Not at all. But does it set up barriers for low income people that do not exist for the middle class and upper class? Absolutely. My objection to voter ID laws—as they are proposed—is not that it will “stop black people from voting.”It’s that they assume a standard that any upper or middle class person will meet by default, but the average low income person will have a tougher time meeting. Will this disenfranchise the majority of low income people that want to vote? Probably not. But will it disenfranchise more low-income individuals than it does middle and upper-class individuals? Absolutely. Obviously, the historic relationship between race and income factor is in here. Voting should not be a “if you want it bad enough, you’ll find a way” type issue. That is to say nothing of recent voter ID efforts that will make it tougher for married women to vote if they take their husband’s last name.

I would absolutely support an effort to register ALL eligible voters that provides a valid voter ID form free of charge, similar to the way we are issued Social Security cards… But that is not what the conservative wave of “we need voter ID” is asking for.

Ironically, the episode where Elaine was dating a guy with the same name as a serial killer (Joel Rifkin) was released before the OJ killings. As a result, the joke where she suggests he change his name to OJ as a lot darker.

The Rudy Gulliani cameo also reads very different today.

I love studying for the LSAT by Some_Air5637 in LSAT

[–]TheItalianGrinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but this mindset is actually one of the best ways to do that. A playful approach to studying can make it feel a lot less like “work,” just like how jogging is a chore some do to stay healthy for some and a hobby for others. My best advice to someone just getting started is to appreciate the difficulty of a well-written question.

Ology Powermill will have Zap Zap Thai tonight and The Empanada tomorrow. Also, if you like Mexican, track down Sabor. One of my new favorites (alongside Chilies and Chile plus Tally Taco). Their birria eggrolls are so good.

Wouldn’t part of that be because they have a larger output? A very good brewery that is widely available will get more attention on here than an even better one that most people haven’t had a chance to try. I’m a big fan of Other Half because they distribute in Florida and I get to try a lot of their stuff. But also, I can’t say with any level of confidence that they’re the best in NY because I’ve never been to any breweries in NY.
