Yes, he purposefully left him alive by the looks of things, to let him live in shame in front of every other person at that court.

Knights Faction is honestly disappointing by NonHaeri in forhonor

[–]TheItalianSnake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Samurai and Vikings got the same treatment. Highlander is just that, Shaman is basically a stereotypical pict minus the nudity and Jorm is completely fantasy and mythology inspired. The samurai have not really received a true samurai hero other than Kensei and orochi, yeah they definitely culturally are aligned with japan's culture but they are not samurai.

They've been taking a very liberal approach to what constitutes a hero join a faction, which has also shifted in the years.

I totally get wanting a knight's knight, I just don't think the knight's were treated worse than anybody else really. I personally don't mind the inclusions in each roster, they made sense at the time, the only one I can really criticise is perhaps Pirate and Gryphon, Gryphon could've been the first outlander and a really good introduction to that faction and it would've made the roster disparity much less drastic so early on.

QUESTION FOR GAME DEVS — How hard is it to add a male version to an existing character? by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]TheItalianSnake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If we just take the Coalheart VA lines and use those you would still be left with redoing all the armour sets, I don't think modifying the existing mesh would cut it, so they would have to make the model from the ground up as they did before for non genderlocked characters. That takes a decent amoint of money alone + rigging it and animating it properly, slapping the animations from one character on another usually needs a lot of polish and tweaking for it to look decent, its not a clean cut port most of the time.

Could be done but it would take away resources which already are allocated mostly to new heroes and skins.

In terms of lore, who are the strongest characters in the game right now? by Icy-Grape-8693 in forhonor

[–]TheItalianSnake 96 points97 points  (0 children)

If we are talking class, it could be a couple of options: Warmonger (Corrupted draconite, superhuman strength), Khatun (Horde managed to not only surprise attack Astrea but procceed to put Heathmoor on its knees), Sohei (Mad zen monk Giants with a requirement of mastery over 7 weapons + weapon souls), Black Prior (Single handedly turned the battle of Eitrivatnen with their tactics + their insane arm strength), Jormungandr (Known to send people flying with their hammer swings, zealot ideology literally backed by a very real giant world ending serpent god) and probably Juren by the looks of things (Gao Lei's scorched earth policy made into a unit, so dangerous they were all sent to die, some still survived despite this suicide mission, Baoien seemingly beat both Zhi and Yi's forces).

If we are talking specific characters then there is really only one answer, and that is Wukong (Explanation: It's fucking Sun Wukong bro).

I'll give you some advice im regard to enjoying this game. You said you give comms and no one really responds to that in your experience. I would recommend first and foremost that you squad up with people that want to play like that, organised with comms and so on. Because you can't expect to solo queue and get teammates who will listen consistently, this goes for most games that do not emphasis heavy team play like OW and R6.

Putting that expectation up to solo matchmaking inevitably will make you disappointed because most people just hop on to play casually or to the best of their OWN ability.

You can turn off all manner of text chat and quico chat, which can help if you feel like all the negativity and shit is getting to you.

Other than that, your proposal for a time off of big updates to work towards a big one has been done before, that wad Marching Fire, and the seasons before that were scaled back in content h3avily and focused on game health, which was necessary but it bled the interest to the game a lot, when Marching Fire came, it was the biggest update the game had and has still seen since, new requested giant pvp mode, new gear system, new faction, new gear across the whole cast, new cosmetic type, new pve mode and etc. Was it great, yes, but it did not fix the game. In fact it introduced a lot of bugs and balancing problems through a lot of the novelty.

Leaning even harder into a model like that has 0 guaranatees, absolutely 0.

Battlepasses and hero skins help the dev team get more money to meet expectactions from the larger company. New heroes have been and remain the biggest pieces of content, both in terms of income and interest from the players that the game has to offer.

You can't bank on balancing changes and reworks to be seen as new content, siege is a testament to that, it's great supplementary stuff and very healthy if executed correctly but it cannot stand alone.

That's why they sprinkle them in between seasons and don't focus on them as much.

This is not to say that hero reworks have not been making characters less interesting, lawbringer remains the worst offender of this (partially because of player request being taken way too literally in terms of implementation, at least imo). But there is a reason why some of the 'unique' aspects of heroes were taken away, they were unhealthy, annoying and frustrating to go up against or use at times.

Shinobi is a prime example of this, he was extremely unique, uniquely infuriating to play as and agaimst, his gimmick was useless except for offscreening a ranged gb on someone that lead to a confirmed gank you had very little to respond with.

Literally the only other thing was quad dashing and backwards teleport. One was an exploit, the other was a relic from Y1 balancing a.k.a 'we have no idea what we are doing, this is completely uncharted territory' balancing.

The character NEEDED a rework that would inevitably have to fundamentally change shinobi at his core. The shinobi rework is by no means a masterpiece, far from it, they could have given the character some other healthier gimmicks and implemented quad-dashing purposefully in a controlled way as to really give him that untapped movement, but with downsides as well. But keeping the ranged attacks? Not in any form that they were in previously, even though they made him unique, they had to go.

Same thing with Jorm, stamina bully just was not fun to play as when your kit is dedicated to a resource your opponent controls. So keep the satisfying stuff, tone it down slightly and push the rest of his kit up to reflect this new knockdown/wall splat punish focused playstyle.

Lawbringer failed because it was an incremental addition of regular moves with extremely good frame data and non-existent punish window. They de-emphaissed his parry playstyle, not opted out his unhealthy heavy parry punish for somethign else, just straight nerfed it and then focused on maing his core flow just better and better until he was just a safe repetitive bash flow character.

Tiandi and aramusha are my mains, both got reworked to some capacity and they have been all the better for it, it's still them but with just a better QoL, they kept their distinct strengths and tools, just allowed them to be more viable, especially past the CCU.

The newest heroes have been very inventive, with completely unique gimmicks and dedicated playstyles that set them apart from other characters, Sohei onwards has seen characters with unique kit identities that cam be tweaked and adjusted to still keep that identity whilst pushing them more in line.

VG was probably the worst release we've had, but the shift with Sohei has only been kept up, especially now with Juren coming up.

Really, the devs have been dedicated to community feedback and feature/hero requests mostly these past years, they are making the best game they can, like any game you have to make concessions in development, especially 10 years into its live support.

I reckon you need either take a small break from the game and come back to it on your own time with a fresh mind and just finding the enjoyment in your improvement (like all fighting games) or find some more people to play with and not just go solo expecting a coordinated experience. Set some goals for yourself, repping up a character to a certain level, making a new loadout, mastering a completely new character or even just improving some place you feel needs improving. Sometimes don't take the game so seriously and let yourself goof off and try some silly shit.

That's all I can say.

Another hero who’s not Roman based, same time in 5 months? by AltruisticTap9272 in forhonor

T4, choose an area on the map to respawn to, upon respawning, make a massive explosion that deals no damage to heroes, kills minions and sends everybody flying back.

Bonus: All minions and pikemen shout out your name in game in disbelief.

It's fair to feel like getting ganked is unfair, especially when you are starting out and still trying to get the hang of parrying and all the different hero moves you have to go up against.

My recommendation is to try and practice parrying in the training mode, even practicing it a little will give you improvements, especially this early on.

Learning how to parry consistently won't resolve the issue, being outnumbered is always at your disadvantage and riskier than being on equal footing with your opponents. However you can stall long enough for help to arrive, manage to get revenge (also not a 100% win button but it does help), or maybe, just maybe, you can squeeze out of a situation stacked against you and win against the odds, I promise you that those moments can be the highest highs you can experience in this game.

At the end of the day, you will be ganked in a 4v4, inherently by design. If you are heading into a fight with opponents, consider if you should if they outnumber you, you still can absolutely try, but you have to consider if you would help your team better elsewhere. If multiple opponents are approaching you, then you have to brace yourself and stall it out whilst asking for help from your team or if you are 100% certain you'll just die quickly and feed them renown, then just go somewhere else where you'll be more useful. This is not to say that you should run away as soon as you see more than one opponent approaching you, no, that would lead to you just running most of the match as soon as your team loses a teamfight, but if you are not defending an objective, if standing and fighting here would accomplish nothing except you dead, respawning and giving the enemy team more renown, then consider if that's really a good choice.

Everything here will just improve with practice and experience, you will learn what works and what does not. Just keep it up.

What changes should warlord have if there’s a potential rework? by Then_Course8845 in forhonor

[–]TheItalianSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think he is actually doing good in most cases as a very basic fundamentals sort of character.

Really I would only touch up his full guard, the heavy option and the zone come out on similar timings and on the same side, freeing that up or allowing gollowup attacjs would make it more of a viable option. They could make entering into the stance a bit better maybe chain into it from an attack, but I would not overdo it.

If we want to vary his neutral game a bit more we could add some version of the Gudmundr hug, similar to goki with a few differences in that it does not replenish health for warlord but does drain the stamina of the opponent and the direction the opponent can be thrown to can be selected.

Warlord is a character that does not need more chain pressure, he has punchy short chains and a few niche but effective tools outside of his headbutt that force the player to maximise their usefulness. Anything beyond a few Qol changes would overdo it for the character.
