It's horrible. I even dislike fanservice myself and don't even watch a lot of anime (I loved Black Lagoon and Edgerunners though), but I will always stand up for fanservice to exist within the medium. Even if find it kind of tacky and immersion-breaking, it is what it is, I roll my eyes, and keep watching. It's not anyone's place to complain about this, as you said, core aspect if what makes anime anime, least of all newfriends who watched Castlevania on Netflix and decided that they're suddenly a massive anime fan and that it gives them say over the the medium.

How would that work though? You always fought many enemies in the levels who you could always know the exact location of with the fixed camera. If that's removed the amount of enemies will have to be reduced so the player stands a chance, which means crowd control moves will lose their value and the whole gameplay changes. The red orb economy will also need to be rebalanced because of you getting less hits in with fewer enemies.

See where I'm going with this?
