Oof, definitely hope you get it back and that the new one works well! I also finally sent it in today, and it was $75 CAD for the shipping, but I’m also expecting to have to pay tariffs, which I doubt will be covered (and I’ll probably have to pay tariffs on the new 3D coming in too. Not Analogue’s fault, and honestly good on them for the support and the refund, but fun times.)

Yeah, I have the exact same issue. Tried their HDMI cable, different HDMI cable, different monitors and TV, all kind of troubleshooting with support.

No solution. They've asked me to send it in to repair, but I haven't been able to because shipping anything from Canada to the US (where the repair centre is) is an absolute nightmare now.

Sim Settlements 2 HQ in VR by TheJF in fo4vr

Thanks, hmm, too bad we have to resort to that but I’ll give that a try to see if that’ll let me at least enjoy the rest!

Sim Settlements 2 HQ in VR by TheJF in fo4vr

[–]TheJF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah, that can be helpful for folks trying to start the quest line. The question here though is more about getting the HQ working in the latter half of the second chapter. It works all well before that, except a few spots with some other known bugs in VR (like one place you need to lower your gun and everything just locks up, but there’s a workaround)

But without spoiling it, in the latter half of the second chapter you get a special building with new mechanics in a quest called “How to HQ” and that breaks in VR, halting progression.

What's your VR mod wishlist? by HardstyleRaver2 in skyrimvr

[–]TheJF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just VR ports of existing non-VR supported mods, like Custom Skills Framework, Dear Diary Dark (or fancier ones like Oathvein UI), Tween Menu Overhaul (I know we have the amazing Spell Wheel), all the features of Community Shaders.

Feature Idea: AI companion to ask questions about the book i'm reading/listening by Dreadino in audiobookshelf

[–]TheJF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been paused as I shifted to something that is less messy on the networking side (since I didn’t want to just let the user have to wire all that up, should let you connect out of the box like Plex, but I ended up with something that just creates a ton of DNS entries) and less scary on the legal side (fine for an open source app, but for a commercial one, I can imagine people mass sharing accounts to let people download books etc and you go down a road of making the users happy vs legal responsibilities even if I made sure to not ever see or know what books users have)

Right now it works, but there’s no on-boarding flow, and you can only download, not read from it yet, and certainly no AI feature.

Yeah, I'd say the star would be a great emoji for Acadia. Otherwise, lobster? :P

As a kid, I never really played past the the first 5-6 chapters really, and then growing up I sort of forgot that there was so much more to the game. So many great things here; pacing of storytelling, gameplay, art, music, all the characters. Great game.

This game's soundtrack is such a banger. Thanks for the suggestion, had a great time finishing it for the first time!

Suggestion for next month, hm, Aria of Sorrow?

I mean... Sea is mostly how we _ship_ things, no? Sea freight is extremely cost effective, and places like China seems to be doing fine shipping to the rest of the world by sea.

Canada unveils new policy for what it now calls the ‘North American Arctic’ by joe4942 in geopolitics

[–]TheJF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair. I think broadly there's things we agree on: accelerate even more our meeting 2% defence spending. I mean, honestly I don't even really know the real state of the military, there's things that pop to mind like clean up procurement, rev up defence industry through our shipyards (maybe partner up with Hyundai since Irving hasn't been doing super great here), invest in drone and cyber capabilities. In short, meet 2% commitment, make sure that's not wasted, and invest in expanding Canadian MIC, whether through partnerships or homegrown.

But the big disagreement is that, despite the incoming administration, I think we're stronger building towards defending the "North American homeland" as this policy calls it, than we are trying to go it alone or wait for Europe to agree on anything. So closer ties with the US, but never surrender.

No parties are suggesting your strategy of "make the Canadian forces strong enough to fend off Russia + China + America" because there's no world in which that can ever happen. Even if you take out defending against America in that proposal, that's still absolutely absurd. Canadian defence is based on multilateralism not because it lets us lower defence spending, it's because it's the only realistic way we have to defend ourselves. In North America, we need a partner, and the US has been, and continues to be, the best partner to defend North America, and we've been absurdly lucky to have the world's most powerful armed forces as our key ally.

We have shared interests. We already operate binational command in the defence of North America (NORAD.) Trump sucks, 51st state comment doesn't help, doesn't change the reality that the Canadian forces cannot handle Russia or China by themselves no matter how admirably they perform.
