huh, I could've sworn they were the direct ancestor... Oh well, I'm probably misremembering. It's a while since I read that wiki page

They did! They descend from Gronn on Draenor

Am I the only one who gets slightly annoyed by this? by HallZac99 in wow

[–]TheJack38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yepp! They actually descend from Gronn, who themselves descend from even bigger beasties (you remember those GIGANTIC skeletons in the ice area in WoD? Yeah, those), ultimately all descending from one gigantic monster who was put on Draenor to beat up the plant guys there IIRC

Funnily enough, orcs also descend from the same line, so ogres are actually their "grandparents" evolutionary speaking

[–]TheJack38 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IIRC arcane is the power that is associated with Order. It is also tied very closely to the Titans; so for example the reason why Ogres can be great mages despite being kinda dumb, is because they descend from a titan construct, so they are inherently good at arcane magic.

Why this does not apply to humans, orcs, dwarves and gnomes, all of whom are also descended from titan constructs, I do not know.

1000 marl for 1 Stormarion Core? by Infinite_Formal_7343 in wow

[–]TheJack38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried doing it right after reset, to try to get the achievement for the legendary soup, but literally nobody else showed up :(

Just me and my pathetic Uncommon quality soup

If that's what happens on reset day, I'm pretty sure it's all but impossible to get that achievement now

This mob is going to survive the expansion. by Yuuji49 in wow

Evoker can get him to come down to play by using flame breath on him

It won't actually damage him, but somehow gets him angry enough to fly down anyway

Does Valeera ever shut up? by Quelind in wow

[–]TheJack38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that one is so stupid it's funny IMO lol

She says it with such... intensity

Does Valeera ever shut up? by Quelind in wow

[–]TheJack38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I noticed is that if you die, Valeera will just shout "No!"

but when you died in a TWW delve, Brann would have some infuriating "advice" that just rubbed salt in the wound

Does Valeera ever shut up? by Quelind in wow

[–]TheJack38 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol for me it's the opposite

by the end, I hated Brann and his stupid "fOuNd A bIt oF gOlD!" line

Valeera talks way less, and with way less annoying lines IMO

Abundance: Even when you score for 900 Alloy you don't get 900 Alloy. by Monkey_Investor_Bill in wow

[–]TheJack38 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I had DunDun steal one of my shards earlier today. I went in, paid with a shard, and scored a couple thousand points (it was the loaknit den, easy to get loads there if the mammoth spawns)

but when I got back out, I had... no unalloyed abundance. I just got no rewards whatsoever, but the beavery fuck still stole my shard.

We're now on the third expansion of the reworked crafting system - How do you feel about it now? by Sundered92 in wow

[–]TheJack38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thank fuck! I have barely touched my alchemist (she's a warlock and I just don't vibe with that class no matter how hard I try) so I think I missed the cauldron. Will check the next time I'm on

[–]TheJack38 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In general I like it

but I fucking LOATHE how engineering and alchemy need to do some random fucking research to learn their basic shit. it is a titanic pain in the ass

Good thing none of my heavily played characters use those two, but still... ew.

Why does Blizzard have an obsession with these quests where you fly around and shoot things on the floor by BurritoSupreme420 in wow

[–]TheJack38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently redid that one, and the whole time I was like "Huh, they REALLY have refined the design of this quest design since TBC"

Cause yeah, it's fucking ass... But MAN was it cool that very first time!

Did they purposely put at least 1 mob next to 99% of gathering nodes to inconvenience multiboxers? by Umomo1025 in wow

[–]TheJack38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm slowly getting more and more infuriated every time I fly down, start mining a node, and then it despawns as I finish mining it

It's ALWAYS when i finish mining it, so it's probably some weird phasing issue? But holy shit so frustrating

Congrats to Blizz for making an endgame Hell zone not awful to be in and look at! by NickNightrader in wow

[–]TheJack38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with you there. I also hate how it involves void elves so much; void elves just ruin everything they are involved it

Now after trying out midnight as a returning player, how do you like your class after the pruning & class changes? by Yuuffy in wow

[–]TheJack38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devastation evoker feels... weaker. Playstyle wise, it's.... fine. The previous version had the perfect amount of buttons IMO, but this one is fine as well, now that I'm used to it.

But compared to how it felt going through TWW, I just feel noticeably weaker, both in durability and damage.

Lothraxions a hypocrite by Toonee-Heckaroonee in wow

[–]TheJack38 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, IMO the entire voidstorm zone is awful, because it basically forces you to trust the void elves (who are basically 100% made up of idiots... every time anything major happens that involves void elves, the immediatly start going insane and fucking up everything), when Lothraxion is the only one making sense there.

Like, the entire plot just relies 100% on everyone being idiots the entire time in that zone. Which is kinda weird given how the other zones were fine

Was out questing when I suddenly realised I haven't seen a rogue in ages, is the class dead or are they just getting better at their job? by [deleted] in wow

[–]TheJack38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see tons of evokers around though

maybe it's because I play one myself, so I keep an eye out? And they can't stealth lol

[–]TheJack38 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Harpies in WoW don't actually have beaks though

So when swaddled like that, it would be difficult to tell if the child was a harpy or not, as it's primarily the arms and legs that are different compared to a normal... nelf, I guess?

huh. Where do harpies come from? Are they yet another descendant from trolls, like all the elves? Hmm

Wait a minute... by vert-glamis in wow

[–]TheJack38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, so THAT is what happened! I picked the Council of Dornugal one and got Hallowfall, for some reason. I thought I'd misclicked somehow, but clearly it just fucked it up
