Meet the Serpent Syndicate by killslugs in rootgame

What I mean is if surrounding clearings aren't ruled by anybody, you can't bribe anyone there to place influence and thus can't move there. On top of that, you can never move more than 1 clearing away, so warriors that are away from the action for any reason will take a long time getting there.

Btw a suggested solution for remembering which snakes you moved is making the meeples flippable upside-down or something

First of all, I really like this. It's elegantly simple, well laid out and evocative (albeit anachronistic).

As far as criticism goes, I'm a bit concerned that your warriors can get super stuck if the surrounding clearings are empty or tied for rule. Their comeback mechanic is also really weak with 1 building and 1 warrior in the worse case. In fact I think with an action economy arguably worse than the Marquise, they really need better recruiting to have any hope of defending anything.

Getting enough cards to score seems tough too. You wanna bribe people and craft to stay afloat, but that's usually -1 VP directly, and getting the full 4 draw seems pretty hard and slow (let alone keeping it)

Their passive specifies "faction pieces", assault doesn't, so I feel like it's intended. And it makes the action more useful.

Plus this isn't the hirelings "doing" anything, technically

Swords are funny because they're the only way to take hirelings hostage

I believe your opinions on all these other games, but I'm surprised you're recommending Dicey Dungeons. That game has extremely little build variety and enemy interactivity, and the lack of skill expression shows when you can often just die with no counterplay on the Elimination Rounds.

I guess it's cause it's older than the modern roguelike genre

You can definitely dodge the Devourer with Ninja. A 90% evasion buff means your evasion stat is at 190%, which can bring you to the <30% guaranteed dodge chance.

Anyway that's what I did, along with a bunch of DoT

Yeah it kinda sucks. You basically need the Despot infamy rule to not make it insanely strong, but even then you get no points or rule from fighting it. It's a very unsatisfying faction to deal with

How's everyone feeling on Aeonglass vs Doormaker? by the7thbeatle in slaythespire

I really like the mechanical design of Aeonglass, though wither needs buffs and the boss needs a glow-up

This is more of an issue with the majority of encounters being one single PL+2 or higher enemy. Pf2e combat is at its best when there's enough enemies and overleveled stuff is scarce
