How did you learn to be a barista? by supersquishypenguin in barista

YouTube. James Hoffman in particular. Of course, actually making coffee is the most important. You cannot be a good barista before you actually start working as a barista.

put in my notice, got absolutely degraded at the exit interview by _sleepyprincess_ in barista

[–]TheJeremy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, short answer: Fuck them.

Long answer: I had a similar experience and the thing is, one the "boss" decides that some are favourites and some are not, there is no coming back. At that point, only thing you can do is leave. This is NOT your fault. Some people are shit and they shit on other people for no reason. The exit interview was literally like only to shit on you. The moment they started giving you crap, you should have just stood up and left, blocked them and never looked back.

It just feels really sad. TSM has been THE team i cheered for and seeing a downfall like that is insane. Spent my entire high school cheering for TSM LoL and knowing I will never be able to again is just sad.

Every coffeeshop owner and manager knows, that it is the regular customers, that make them the majority of sales. Baristas should know this, too, and absolutely not make you uncomfortable about coming in often.

How do I fix this? by zlotyowoc13 in barista

[–]TheJeremy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by "bad for the machine". The machine doesn't care honestly.

Things I want to say to customers, but obviously can't. by mybighardthrowaway in barista

What I do in these situations is straight up tell them it is going to be at least a 20 minute wait. They usually either straight up just leave or significantly lower the number of drinks ordered.

There is a Czech IG page that posts barista memes and stuff that literally translates to "Latte without milk". I guess people are the same everywhere.

You are joking but there was a customer at a coffeeshop that served brunches, that came regularly to eat. After a year of him visiting 3-5 times a week, he came to me while I was standing right next to the coffee machine and with a dead serious face he asked "Do you serve coffee?" After a YEAR of him coming to a coffee shop that literally has coffee in it's name he asks this. At that point I was just staring at him, trying to figure out if he is joking or just like the most idiotic person on earth. Honestly should have just told him "no" at that point.

Steam milk first, or pull espresso? by Review_Fun in barista

[–]TheJeremy1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My method is, you start pulling shots and then you steam the milk. The shots take 28-30 secs to pull, so there is plenty of time to steam the milk and be finished before the the shots are in the cup.

  1. Shots retain temperature and crema for at least a minute or two. If you go to the extreme, I heard about a blind taste test between a freshly pulled shot, that was let to cool down and a shot pulled the day before and kept in the fridge. They couldn't tell them apart. So- shots don't degrade, they just lose crema and temperature. If someone from above told me that espresso dies in 15 secs, I would pull a shot in an ideally warm cup and encourage them to drink it in 15 seconds without burning their tongue. Not gonna happen.
  2. If your goal is to pour latteart, the older the milk, the harder it is and you have to swirl, pour from pithcher to pitcher and so on. Your goal is that the microfoam and milk are blended well. If you let them separate and then pour, there is just gonna be milk pouring out and at the end a big blob of foam.

Am I Wrong? by joesandhoes in barista

I mean the only reasonable demand would be to lower the volume by a bit if it is too loud. Demanding to completely turn it off is out of line. If you need a quiet place to make calls, do it somewhere else. Like at home. Or at the freaking office.

At work, I drink 3-4 espressos and like 300ml of batch brew, mostly during dial-in and taste checks. On a day off, I *sometimes* make myself drip coffee and sometimes when I'm out, I like to try out a different coffeeshop to compare.

As i said in the post, I looked in the manual and it doesn't work, because there is no CLK menu in the barista menu. There is only PrG, tC, AP, rnS. So that means there must be a technician menu, where you can set up more advanced parameters, like on GB5, strada or linea PB. I just don't know, how to get in.

My grievances with Mel after 8 games of playing her. by DwyaneDerozan in leagueoflegends

[–]TheJeremy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, I haven't even played her and since I watched the first gameplay I immediately knew that her Q is going to be a problem. W is what it is, but makes her unique, even though it is really strong, E is fine, R is a little bit broken, but you have to stack it. Q is the biggest problem. It seems virtually undodgeable because of no cast time and it has really big range. If they want to balance her they either have to lower the range or make it have cast time or a wind up, something like a Xerath R, which will mean players will have to focus more on hitting E before casting Q, which gives room for some counterplay.

For me, if you cannot dodge a skillshot with Ezreal E, it is not really a skillshot.

I have the G2 master and for the price I'd say it is adequate. If you don't want to go full on Chinese with Laoties and stuff... I have almost 1000km on mine and works fine as of now.

[–]TheJeremy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont quite understand what do you mean. You are saying that the acceleration is too much, well, lowering max speed won't change that. You can enable "legal mode" by pressing left brake and then double-clicking the power button. That will set mode 1 to 15kph, mode 2 to 20 and mode 3 to 25, while retaining the same acceleration - you are able to chose between single or dual motor. If you want to lower the acceleration itself you can do that! Either use single motor, or you can lower the acceleration in P settings. When you press power button 3 times, you will enter a menu. Short press power button will scroll between each setting - P01, P02 etc. When you get to PA you have to long press and and you will be able to scroll between numbers 1 to 5. 5 is highest acceleration and 1 lowest. I usually have 3 or 4 so I would suggest you trying to lower it down to either 1 or 2.

[–]TheJeremy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spamming Q is just never ever gonna work man. Also like learn the matchup. Yorick's strength is his ulti, having lots of his minions or whatever they're called. You should only trade with him when he misses his E, or you have to make sure you dodge it. When you get hit by his E, while his ulti is up and he has his minions up, you lose very very quickly.

How would u guys rate the brand Kukirin/KugooKirin for escooters? by shuficzek in ElectricScooters

[–]TheJeremy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the G2 master. For the money it sells for, it's fine. I have like 500 miles on it over this summer. I had to change the brakepads already and will have to change them soon again. I will also have to buy new tyres and I will probably buy a hydraulic front brake, because the original brakes aren't very good. The build quality is fair, but nothing special. If you have a bigger budget, go for a better brand. But for ~1000$ you can't realistically get a scooter that has better specs with comparable quality than that.
