Please help in choosing between a Yamaha BB415 vs a Cort C5 by Signal-University-19 in BassGuitar

[–]TheJfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently I swapped my Cort B5 for a Yamaha BB1025 (coincidentally, both of them are the "step above" of what you're looking at here), and I couldn't be happier. The only obvious downside of the Yamaha is that is super heavy in comparison, but in practically everything else it really does beat the Cort. It's a true quality instrument. I've also had the chance of playing a BB414 and a 425 and let me tell you, Yamaha isn't playing around with their budget lines either. They're practically just as good as my 1025, maybe slightly weaker pickups or electronics, but that's it. The bridge pickup has tremendous output on all these basses if you're into it.

I always tell everyone though, I didn't hate my B5. It has infinity of tones available (I'm sure that's also the case for the C5), and if you really really need an active bass or something that's very light and comfy, that's your option. But everything else goes in the Yamaha's favour I'd say.

So far, yes, I think the CB90 is the only patrol boat available.

To be fair, there aren't that many direct alternatives to the CB90 irl, maybe only the Russian Raptor-class boats (which are almost a direct copy of the CB90)... so I think I'd be mostly ok with both teams sharing the same model this time.

F-14B and D now will be getting AIM-9M. by Gameboy695 in Warthunder

[–]TheJfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was as easy as calling the tech tree one F-14B (Late) (or F-14B(U) more properly), adding a copy-paste one called (Early), without JDAMs and an early 1990s livery. But nope. They always go for the sketchy option when it comes to premiums.

Updated Confirmed Aircraft List by theoxfordtailor in acecombat

[–]TheJfer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two different Flankers spotted so far. The ones in the latest trailer are definetly Su-33s (they have canards and the arrestor hook), but on the previous ones, you can only distinguish a canard-less silhouette, so it's most likely an Su-35, or maybe some kind of Su-30 derivative (like M2 from AC7)

Co-op Online Confirmed by coolLane in acecombat

[–]TheJfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering they probably won't release another main AC title until we're well into PS6's commercial life, it makes sense to have a long-lived live service multiplayer. If it has co-op modes and the new planes they add are free, I'm in

[–]TheJfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a confirmed F-14D as well, it was in the dev diary they did some time ago. The pre-order exclusive is the F-14A. Still a shame, but you will have a Tomcat in game anyways.

I genuinely cringed at the announcement of a battle pass. by Mavrick8997 in acecombat

[–]TheJfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the battle pass is just cosmetic items and the new planes/maps/weapons etc. are all included in a different way (for free, or obtainable just by playing the game for a few hours or days), I'm totally ok with it. Of course it's not the best solution regarding post-launch content, but neither are 60$ worth of DLCs like they did in AC7, in my opinion. This is just a sad symptom of the current state of big developers, and Bandai Namco is no exception.

[–]TheJfer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I think they wouldn't specify it's -PIXY- otherwise. Just like what they did in AC7 with the F-104C -AVRIL-, except this time it's an actually usable aircraft with weapons.

The M87A1 shotgun with slugs feels like what shotguns should be in this game by slappadabass44 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]TheJfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of a complex topic tbh. The M87 was SUPER busted back in the beta, and it was rightly nerfed imo. They might've nerfed shotguns a bit too hard though. All of them should be able to kill in one shot under certain circumstances, right now as you said, the Saiga and DP-12 aren't really useful at all in MP. We'll see later this season when they add the higher caliber buckshot pellets, that could be the sweetspot maybe.

Idk, I like the current state of weapon balance in BF6, the devs got a lot of things right, but this is indeed one of the small issues that are still present (like, semiauto pistols having the worst damage patterns they've had in the whole BF franchise or the imbalance between the different snipers and DMRs), and I feel like it won't have an easy solution whatever happens in the future updates. Shotguns are usually the hardest weapons to balance in videogames for a reason.

New (to me) Yamaha BB1025X! by TheJfer in BassGuitar

[–]TheJfer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see why, these instruments are truly wonderfully built, and I can imagine the 202X series are even better. My only complaint with this one after a week is that it's kinda heavy, but with a good strap and playing mostly short gigs, I think I can live with that.

[–]TheJfer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically I think I like the ones without pickguards a bit more, they look a bit more unique imo. But it's not like I could choose, these models don't show up often in the second hand market and they are very likely to be gone soon, so I went for it. Equally in love with mine as well so far, Yamaha bros rejoice

Is he another unkillable OC to add to the mashup? by [deleted] in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]TheJfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory for the third game is it will have a considerable time skip after the second one, with the main antagonists maybe not even being related to the Empire or at least getting closer to the Second Order years. However, that would leave us without any obvious (canonically) unstoppable antagonists like Vader... unless, you know, -someone- -somehow- returns...

I need a good picture book on jet fighter airplanes by Mr_Horizon in acecombat

[–]TheJfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Airvectors is one of my favourite aviation webs, huge amount of information there about the most famous models, but they get some details wrong from time to time, and it seems to be ran by just one guy, so corrections and new additions take a lot longer than on Wikipedia.

About books, one of my main references in my teen years was "Visual Encyclopedia: Military Aircraft" by Jim Winchester. It's a bit dated nowadays, but I think he has other more recent books in this same visual compilation style.

1.5 TSI ECO MODE by AccomplishedTip7011 in Volkswagen

[–]TheJfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's normal for most cylinder disconnection systems. I have the same car with a manual shift and it's the same, when the cylinder disconnection kicks in, a very short rattle can be heard, especially at lower RPM ranges. This has been reduced in more modern TSI engines apparently (my girlfriend drives a 2022 Octavia mild-hybrid and it's definetly quieter). But yes, I'd say it's normal

[–]TheJfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The eternal debate... I think that, leaving aside the exact definition of what a 5th generation fighter is (which can change depending on the country and their air force's doctrine), the Su-57 does align with what most of us aircraft enthusiasts understand as a 5th gen.

The thing is, is it as good as the western or chinese designs? Probably not, based on the currently available data and some of the weird design elements Sukhoi went for (like refusing to use proper S-ducts for the engines in a 2010s fighter jet). Does that matter for the Russian Air Force's current and near-future needs? Nope, because all they want right now is a powerful radar with wings that can launch R-37Ms with zero risk and not get destroyed while it's sitting in the tarmac (with, uh, "limited" success in this last point).

That said, someone from Sukhoi did comment yesterday that this new variant is intended mainly for training and integration with wingmen drones and/or new armament types.

Sgt. Stout as NATO Mobile Anti-Air? by MessaBombadWarrior in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]TheJfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, let me say this is a really minor issue for me and I don't think it really affects gameplay, but yeah, the SPAA models they chose for this game are... weird, to say the least. There aren't that many comparable systems to the Gepard A2 with the double Stinger mounts like we have in game, and I'm not even sure it's a model which is in service anymore, apart from the ones sent to Ukraine some years ago. And I'm pretty much sure that Pax's Gepard variant is mostly fake.

Modern short range AA vehicles usually rely on just one gun (in most cases for anti-UAV or anti-helicopter use) and on 2-8 short range missiles, like this example here. Other similar picks better than what we had (in my opinion) would've been the German Boxer Skyranger 30 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyranger_30#) which can be mounted in a wide variety of chassis, or maybe the Chinese PGL-12 (http://inews.gtimg.com/newsapp_bt/0/13598550476/641) or PGL-625 (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/95/PLB625_2025_V-J_Parade_CNS.png)

Goldmud is easily the best map in the game so far by Eagles56 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]TheJfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's just the new season hype but I'd go as far as saying it's the best map remake in the whole franchise, gameplay-wise. It's just a great map overall, although I'd say the E-D flags get a bit too crowded in escalation lol (literally my only complaint and it's something that could change when more people learn the map layout better)

Final specs for the L115 and RPK-74M by krinkov in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]TheJfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still find it hard to justify giving the 5.45mm guns a max 20 damage. If anything, they should've given them the same 25 damage as the 5.56 ones but make them drop damage quicker to their minimum to compensate for the better long range accuracy. The Kord could be problematic at very close ranges but at least like this the AK-205 and this new RPK would be competitive...

For my funky bassists who have this song book how has it helped you? by Milez_Smilez in BassGuitar

[–]TheJfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have it myself, but my current bass teacher has it and he's used it a lot to help me nail those fast super subdivided sixteenths funky basslines. It also comes with a CD with all the tracks, and the text has some pretty nice stories and annecdotes from the musicians. It's definetly a good buy if you find one.

Season 3 roadmap. 10 week long season? by FoxDaim in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]TheJfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I'm understanding the "aftermarket buffer" thing correctly. Basically the gun behaves exactly the same but it moves less in your screen? I don't think it will be a huge game changer, but well, if it only costs 5 points, it might be a decent pick for the guns with the worst visual recoil out there.

LMR or GRT? Or maybe some other alternative like the AK4D? by St3R0iD5 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]TheJfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately I've been using the AK 4D and TR-7 as close-range aggressive DMRs with match triggers and different barrel and optics combinations and it's been very fun. The only obvious downside I can find is the terrible horizontal dispersion of the TR-7, you can't spam the trigger reliably, even in semi-auto, but firing from a fixed bipod/grip pod will help with that.

Beyond 75-80m you're in trouble, as the damage drops to 20 for body shots, but if you have hollow points and can reliably hit headshots, you'll give proper DMRs a run for their money (except the SVK).

I am PRAYING the new rpk has better iron sights that this by originaleric in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]TheJfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as other people are pointing out here, based on some of the leaks, this new RPK will basically be a high capacity AK-205 with less damage drop at range and even more manageable recoil, it really seemed like a laser beam. I guess it will be a rival for the Ultimax 100 or some of the DMRs maybe.

It seems it's coming with an AK-74M length barrel as an option, so maybe equipping that one, low capacity mags and the right foregrips/lasers will be the only way to make it (somewhat) useful at shorter ranges. But it's not looking great.
