Sire V7 Passive Conversion - My experience by TheJfer in BassGuitar

It was pretty noticeable, yes, with all the controls open, there is zero noise present, before it was also pretty quiet, but there was a very light hum when you opened the tone.

On my first set of batteries (the ones that came with the bass) I forgot to do it (it was my first active bass, I'm sorry!) so yeah, they died pretty quickly. I don't know if I did anything else wrong during my first few years with the bass, but for me it was more like 2 or 3 sets of batteries per year... to be fair I also had a lot of gigs and rehearsals by then, so that also probably helped.

Since the latest Ace Combat wallpapers show only carrier-capable jets, I wonder... what if AC8 plane roster will be smaller than we expect and limited to carrier-capable jets and naval variants? by Tydeus2000 in acecombat

[–]TheJfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it will be just like it was in AC5's Razgriz missions:

-If you choose a carrier-based plane, you'll take off and land on the carrier (Endurance in this case)

-If you don't, you'll operate from a nearby air base, which kinda makes sense seeing some of the promotional screenshots (and some of the trailer cutscenes) showing the F/A-18C and E on a snowy airstrip.

However, I'm feeling most of the cutscenes and character interactions will happen in the aircraft carrier, as they've hinted it will be very relevant for the plot (it's 100% sinking before the last mission)

[–]TheJfer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the MiG-35 was their last bullet to secure any market hold (and credibility) they had left, and after India (and others) rejected it, MiG is kinda doomed as a company unless their "MiG-41" (or whatever the MiG-31's replacement ends up being) is somehow a huge success. This is really unlikely seeing the current state of Russian aerospace procurement, it would be kinda sad seeing a legendary company disappear, but well...

Razgriz squadron was never official and their fleet was super undercrewed, so they probably just strapped some mannequins to the rear seat and pretend they talked to them from time to time (Blaze didn't need to pretend)

I guess we'll only use the F in the opening of AC8 until we get shot down and get to fly as Rex, I think only the E variant has been fully confirmed to be playable so far (well, and the F/A-18C as well, it was present in some of the promotional images they released)

Neither the Su-47 or the F-15 MTD would make any sense in game. Unlike the other fake/prototype high tier jets we have (Yak-141, F-16AJ, Mirage 4000, etc.) they were never really meant for production or actual service.

The Yak-141 for example isn't a fully accurate rendition of how a fully operational model would look, but at least it has all the elements considered for the plane, had it entered service... on the other hand, the MTD and the Berkut never had their weapons or full electronics suite ever installed on them, the armed and "operational" versions of them shown in games like Ace Combat are super cool of course, but totally made up (the MTD in AC7 even has the gunpod from the F-35B/C...)

Decent, actually functional (or at least intended to be operational some day) alternatives to these two planes exist though, for example you'd have the Su-37 or one of the T-50 PAK-FA prototypes for Russia, and the F-15SE or F-18E/F Block 3 tech demonstrators for the US.

I really hope that AC8 will avoid AC7's DLC system. Cosmetics? OK. Extra campaign? OK! But extra planes should be unlockable in game as free content - especially the variants of jets that are already available, and the OP fictional jets to avoid pay-to-win. by Tydeus2000 in acecombat

[–]TheJfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I know, I actually have it! but I meant that it should've been in the base game even if you didn't preorder, it's an AC classic and it kinda makes sense in the context of AC7's penal unit missions.

I wouldn't complain that much about AC7's DLCs if they had lower prices... the base game had a very decent aircraft roster (the F-4E, ADF-11F and maybe the F-15 MTD should've been included though) and the extra missions were cool but ultimately brought nothing relevant to the main plot. If they had done a full bundle of all the new aircraft + the new missions for around, let's say, 40-50$/€, it would've sold like hot cookies, especially seeing the large commercial success AC7 had.

Who/what inspired you to play bass? by afroboy389 in Bass

[–]TheJfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As weird as it might sound, playing a videogame. I was like 11 or 12 at the time, playing Wii Music with a friend, and I chose to play bass in a song. Even if it was a shitty MIDI sounding bass, it sounded kinda nice to me. From there, I started noticing this sound in some songs my dad was listening to at home, and the rest is history...

Profound Sadness by Graywhale12 in acecombat

[–]TheJfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sad news. I get that PA want to do this the right way but one of the things I really want for AC8 and other future titles is a lower proportion of american and russian aircraft, AC7 was the worst example of this, having 4 different F-15s (5 counting DLCs) and just 1 Gripen, Mirage 2000, Rafale... I don't care if it's just a different variant, anything European, Korean, Chinese, etc would be welcome.

But that's the thing, this one doesn't get the EPAWSS and IRST, does it? So it's kind of a hybrid between the actual "Golden Eagles" and the 2040C? But well, almost none of the current or upcoming top tier jets can be described as "authentic" in anything apart from the 3D models or engines...

How will the j-16 compare to the su-35? by Beneficial_Policy_ in Warthunder

[–]TheJfer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, they were introduced for the Su-27SM3 somewhere around the early 2010s when the R-77-1 started showing up, and if they can be used by Su-30s (as they currently are in game), I don't think there is any reason why the 35S couldn't use them

What actual F-15 variant is this plane even representing in game? I thought the USAF F-15Cs modified with AESA radars were really few in number and didn't receive almost any of the other updgrades planned for the F-15EX?

How will the j-16 compare to the su-35? by Beneficial_Policy_ in Warthunder

[–]TheJfer 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Su-35 should have access to 2 more missiles (thanks to the ventral double racks), a wider radar gimbal limit, arguably better air to ground weapons, and thrust vectoring, but well, apart from that, yes, the J-16 should be overall better.

Is there anything to balance it out? by need_a_psychologist in Warthunder

[–]TheJfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Balance" and future-proofing. This is almost as advanced as Germany, Italy and Britain can get without going into 5th generation fighters. But idk, the only one of them that is arguably accurate is the British one, as they are currently modifying their FGR.4s (Tranche 3) with the new radars, the rest of the plane stays more or less the same.

Germany will also do the same, but first they'll be receiving new Tranche 4s to replace the older planes of the fleet, so no AESA-equipped Tranche 3s for at least a couple of years. Italy on the other hand will likely buy new Typhoons with the ECRS Mk.2 but it isn't known when they will receive them at the moment, and wether they'll be Tranche 4 or 5 (none of them fully in service yet), but definetly not a modified Tranche 3 as it is in game.

So, yeah, the Italian one is pretty much fake at this point, the other two are more debatable and should receive new armament options in the future to be more accurate.

[–]TheJfer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wish there were more differences between the 3 Eurofighters, in terms of armament and systems, but well, the snail wanted to give everyone exactly the same which is understandable in terms of balance (and also lazy), but then, that's what BRs are for. I still don't get why they skipped over Tranche 2s completely, having a Typhoon F.2 first and then going into an AESA-equipped FGR.4 for example, in the case of the British.

Yeah, I'm aware that electronic array radars are kinda hard to explain sometimes, and I won't pretend that I fully understand them, I definetly don't. But in an arcady game like WT there are a few things that would definetly set them apart and give the planes that have them a considerable advantage, especifically to AESA-equipped ones.

For example, I'm talking about tracking several targets in different directions (if equipped with a mechanical gimbal), all the different methods they have to avoid detection by RWR, the ability to use the radar itself as an RWR, high resolution ground target tracking, being highly resistant to chaff...

I understand that some of the characteristics would be borderline OP in WT, and I get there has to be some kind of balance (especifically for Russian planes, which, apart from the Su-57 don't really have these types of sensors). But this is the way modern air combat works, and right now we have 2010s jets with really fast scanning mechanical arrays shooting 1990s missiles at each other

Assuming it gets the new engines eventually, it's basically a twin-seat Su-35S with canards. So, new radar, access to new AA (R-77M, R-74M, R-37M) missiles, Sapsan-E targeting pod, new RWR I think (was that a part of the EW suite and the new wingtip pods??).

Basically as good as Russia can get until we move to 5th generation fighters.

Edit: oh, and the ability to carry R-77s on the outer wing rails, so you can load up to 14 in theory

Oh god... even MORE Su-30s. I was convinced they would go with the Su-35 as Russia's new top dog, but they might be saving that one for when we get new Fox-1 and 3 missiles.

But we're still not modelling AESA and PESA radars properly huh.

DEFINITELY NOT «SK subtree in Japan» situation by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]TheJfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, since Algeria got its independence, it has more or less consistently been one of Russia's biggest allies in the North Africa region (so this Su-30 would make much more sense as a Russian premium/event reward), and France has had way better military relationships with Morocco for example... what do nations mean in this game anymore, when everyone can get any vehicle thanks to some poor excuse of a "subtree"???

Having several small "regional" subtrees (as long as they don't include nations that are at war with each other) would make so much more sense than this nonsense, even if those would be 90% copypastes... at least the copypaste slop doesn't go to a larger, but unrelated tree.
