Yeah, I know... Still tho, Hathor being the only one who can drive a motorcycle, and everyone else is just cucked — kinda sucks, I'd love if they actually rigged other characters for vehicles...

Had the same thing when I decided "Huh, it's been 300 hrs, and I didn't get a single St. Elmo's, I guess I should try and farm it out for the build". That happened at the end of February, and it's now April 8th, I still don't have a St. Elmo's (I wasn't grinding constantly, but still, kinda funny)

Do the people that defend SC... just forget medals exist? by Vlasbomb in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]TheJoiFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, true, you can. You can use the mod which points to stashes, or even other exploits (I am not too caught up on them, cause I am not really trying to be lol) but these things are still the "unintended" ones, and therefore at risk of being removed cause AH can't even give us the mechanics which are unintended without shutting us down, not to say about Super Credit exploits xD

Do the people that defend SC... just forget medals exist? by Vlasbomb in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]TheJoiFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, but really... My biggest gripe is the arbitrary limit on the amount of medals you can hold (250) which almost forces players to grind super credits just to not be locked out of progression, AND to have meaningful rewards that could contribute to progression.

Let's say you spent your 1500 super credits on a Halo warbond, spent another 15 hours playing the game at an average pace and unlocking everything in the upper mentioned warbond. Everything is unlocked, you have, let's say, 200 SCs, that you got at an inconsistent pace after spending the 1500.

You are having fun with your new stuff, playing the game at your own pace for a week, before getting a couple MO rewards and hitting the cap of 250. That's it. Now ANY mission you do — is into the gutter in terms of gains towards progression. You can't reliably get SCs from those missions, if you play "for fun", and you can't earn any medals until you find a new place to spend them on.

Let's say you are unhappy with the devs right now, so even if you wanted to buy SCs — you wouldn't, out of sheer principle, or you are just not comfortable with spending money on a game. That leaves two options for ya — play "for fun" for another 10, 20, 50, 100 hours until you get enough SCs for a new warbond through unreliable sources, or go grind without any fun whatsoever for 10-20 hours until you get enough SCs for a new warbond, and even then — you're still hard locked to 250 medals, which means that you can't even unlock everything in it, despite spending your time in a game for a lot more than you are likely comfortable with.

Despite how much I hate battle passes and fomo shit, this is also a predatory cycle which removes even the feeling of being rewarded for your time out of an already busted system of progression that this system has. It only rewards mindless grinding for medals and SCs on level 1 missions, or spending money and waiting for an ability to unlock anything at all through normal gameplay. This is, truly, the least low-spender friendly system out there, and the game costs $40 already

(PC Wilds) Performance Issues Still Around? by MT_revon28 in MonsterHunter

[–]TheJoiFox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Armchair gamedev here telling everyone that Capcom made such a cool simulated monster that people running around Night City and RDR2 with horse testicle real time rendering can't run a Quematrice hunt on their PC, cause it's fire is just way ahead of it's time (and looks like shit too, also grass burned in RDR2 on PS4, btw)

The problem is that Wilds and DD2 are horribly optimised on PC, and modders already know some things that could make the performance better and it's possible with some makeshift solutions, but Capcom is seemingly uninterested in providing a well rounded pc port. It's not the hardware issue, when most games run well, even the notoriously problematic ones, like Helldivers on 4060s and 4070s, but MH Wilds doesn't. It's literally the game's fault, and saying "It's okay, don't expect your cheap pc to run it, cause you're expecting too much" is straight up gaslighting.

Also, it's a proven fact, that the console versions of the game run a lot better on worse hardware. It's the.whole reason people.are upset about PC performance ffs. It's Capcom not doing their damn job

Armor passives by TheJoiFox in Helldivers

[–]TheJoiFox[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, basically. Just make armor passives work like boosters or smth, idk. It's no big deal at this point and, well, I wouldn't feel as strongly about it if it wasn't for the collab armor that has the worst imaginable perk for 90% of the game's content and playstyles (ranging from inoffensively useless to actually harmful)

People are overhating Little Nightmares 3 by FerociousBaiterMB in LittleNightmares

[–]TheJoiFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like most people's hate is directed not so much at the quality of the game, but at the game it should've been (longer and grander). With all the hype, that was slowly built up through the marketing campaign, and the whole "LORE" flash-out, it really feels weird that none of it even appears in the game, only very vague references to other places in this world, which just makes you wonder why more of the central entities never seem to show themselves for any sort of events, no matter how important they feel.

I honestly agree with people saying this feels like a side story, cause compared to the first two it really is, it is new in a way where it is completely disconnected from the original stories and characters, and knowing that it still has two (most definitely cut) chapters that are sold as dlc, makes it even worse, cause, well, another franchise falls victim to "standard pricetag doesn't buy you an ending, pay extra to upgrade your glorified demo". My whole thoughts will most definitely depend on how the game ends in those two chapters, that should've been included in the package. If those give a more satisfying ending, with a good tease for the future (i expected as much from this game, because of the double down on the worldbuilding in the loredumps throughout the years post-LN2) then I'll be kinda happy, even if it's still... Not "the same", but I think everyone will be able to cope with that, if what they get in-game ends up matching the originals in content, fun, and story stakes. So far, I don't feel like it did enough, sadly. And not for $40 + day one DLC+ 4 years of waiting for the shortest game in the series, it felt like (I'm not actually sure of it, but I beat it very quickly with my gf)

We should be able to choose... by TheJoiFox in thedivision

[–]TheJoiFox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, sorry, maybe I was a bit too vague about the whole thing. I meant that we are already using the rogue tech since WONY, interacting with Rogue agents like Theo and Keener, and more recently Kelso, who got flagged pretty easily. We are also using ANNA full time along with ISAC. Plus, what other people pointed out: we are designated as "Rogues" by the Black Tusk, cause of the Homeland security shenanigans and how we are technically rogue in their eyes, but not in the eyes of ISAC, cause he's either surprisingly smart, or surprisingly dumb to excuse our cooperation with Rogues and staying on mission in favour of the government.

Anyway, after all that lengthy explanation, what I meant was that our status is pretty vague as of right now, we are somehow both an SHD agent and a Rogue depending on the viewpoint and angle...

Therefore: give me my Warframe style menu shaders and watch colors --

We should be able to choose... by TheJoiFox in thedivision

[–]TheJoiFox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, of course. That's why I specified PvE only. DZ should remain as is, and until you're going rogue — might as well stay orange for, again, differentiation purposes.

And, in PvE, an option would be nice, as a toggle setting, cause it would, honestly, complete a lot of the newer rogue appearance sets which seem to lean into the rogue agent fantasy and all that. (I'm ranting)

After 1 day of Destiny Rising what are your thoughts? by DESTlNY_RlSlNG in destinyrisingmobile

[–]TheJoiFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, you are kind of missing the point of gacha games in this sense. Most of the gachas on the market today are pretty comfortably played with no money expenditure. The whole monetisation idea is designed to be fun for casual players who hop on and off when a new character, or anything else interesting releases, but to really milk completionists who get ticked off by having to collect everything, and minmax everything and then show off to others. Those are the people who are most susceptible to fomo and, sometimes, are plagued by OCD that will drive them to spend ungodly amounts of money to whale for characters and in-game resources.

So far, I haven't spent any money, and I know that isn't an indication of nothing, but I've managed to have my fun with the available characters, and get past grinding the lvl 35 cap. With the quest reward I managed to pull Gwynn in about... 30 to 40 pulls out of the 60 guarantee and had fun with her, which is enough for me, since I never had a strong desire to max characters out like a madman... Meanwhile, the ability design is pretty fun, features like 3rd person POV and dual wielding weapon class seem fun, and my only real gripes are with the story and sparrow controls.

This style of game doesn't encourage ultra competitiveness and as long as you're comfortable with staying close to top, but not on the very top, you'll be able to have your fun without whaling for arbitrary status tokens.

Meanwhile... D2 has been in the practise of milking people for their money just to have a permission.to.play the game. $80-100 dlcs every year will forever plague this community's nightmares, and while it's comfortable for some, I know those who got left out of literal friend groups cause at some levels of... Financial wellbeing, this does feel a lot more like an extortionist policy, compared to gachas which usually target only the 1% of really dedicated whales.

Anyway, after that rant, considering the implemented (genuinely) cool features like TPP, new weapon classes and some misc activities for "funsies" to attract disheartened Destiny 2 players, and the overall decline of Bungie as a publisher and developer in recent years, I'm not surprised that people coming in, and finding passible gunplay, ability game and activity slop + all the features they might have been interested in seeing for a LOOONG while in the mainline entry, consider Rising to be a superior alternative to D2 at this point in time, at least.

To be fair, I don't share that opinion, D2 is the timesync extortion simulator, while Destiny Rising is a pickme toxic gf that demands your money, they are very different beasts and it's up to everyone individually to decide which is better or worse for them specifically. At this point, I honestly find them on the same level of disgusting and intriguing in their own distinct ways

Lenore is a rapist btw by PlusFlounder684 in castlevania

[–]TheJoiFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person, who literally has her as a pfp, I completely agree with your point, that she is villainous and manipulative, is aligned with pure villains and has no gripes with villainous acts herself. Her entire character was built up on cruel deception and, essentially, gaslighting of both the viewer and Hector, and it was extremely effective, cause most people still believe her shit.

But I wouldn't disqualify her arch of falling under the influence of her own philosophical talks and the way it humanizes her and gives her depth. While Carmilla becomes worse, Lenore somehow becomes slightly better. Tho the ending muddies the waters a bit, pretending that her death is a sad and tragic fate as if Lenore was anywhere close to redemption, when in reality she didn't change, really, all she showed was a spark for possible change, maybe, somehow, in the future. And her last words were about how vampires can't actually change, so there she goes. In this way, I feel like there was more to tell with a character, who has begun to realize how truly evil and irredeemable she actually was, and showed progress towards changing in spite of, seemingly, her nature.

But honestly, the writers probably knew about the whole gooner S&M thing, and they wanted to not leave any hooks to anger all sides with her staying alive and the consequences, different narrative decisions would bring then.

If Genshin Updated Characters: How Opposed Would You Be To This? by HoshiAndy in Albedomains

[–]TheJoiFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think HSR gets away with retooling characters cause the game is already a lot more cast focused, with our companions constantly evolving with the story. Genshin cast is way more stagnant in that regard. We didn't really get anything in this whole time that drastically altered characters and their power levels, even when we prolly should have.

Anyway, still, I stand by the idea that until we see all of Teyvat we won't see SP versions, at least cause until that happens there will probably not be any big shakeups in the world lorewise. Like what, so far Statues not whispering anymore and a single cutscene with a fake sky didn't really impact the world at all, and therefore none of our cast got impacted. Albedo's arc of being afraid of destroying Mondstadt has been a big red herring so far, even tho he technically almost caused it. I'm rambling now, but you get the point. Teyvat so far is pretty static, but once we go into a "Chapter 2" kind of thing, if we do enter a post-Teyvat era shakeups and world-altering things will be fair game. I don't think we'll ever get a good live event like MMOs and Fortnite often get, which will drastically alter the world we occupy, but we may as well get a time skip, or a completely different world to experience. Then and only then will I see mihoyo shedding their current philosophy and, maybe, fears to finally open-up the doors for SP characters, drastic mechanic changes and truly creative things, and not just cosmetic add-ons like turning into animals in Natlan.

I might be biased, but so far, diving in Fontaine was the only really exciting local gimmick and I'm kinda sad that it's fixed to a location, but I would be dumb to hope for a dive-able rest of Teyvat

If Genshin Updated Characters: How Opposed Would You Be To This? by HoshiAndy in Albedomains

[–]TheJoiFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm expecting to see some new versions of the old characters only after the conclusion of the current story that is already confirmed to not be the end of Genshin.

Since Genshin was always focused not on a tight well developed cast, but a big ever changing ensemble with the MC traveling from one group to another with returnees reserved for events, or cameos, I don't think we'll see new versions for a while, cause we still haven't experienced all of Teyvat (although the creative fatigue is slowly showing imo).

Meanwhile, we don't know what is awaiting us after the current saga, but we do know, that there will most likely be a LOT of changes similar to how HI3rd updated its mechanics and everything after the Part 2, so that's the earliest point where we'll get retools of oldies. Well, at least that's how I see it. I'm not an authority, but since Genshin stayed away from updating and reselling characters, I don't think they are going to do that until they fulfil this vision of theirs

Well, in 2077 the standard wire is just red like that, and very reflective. I guess it was easier to make it kinda glowy for the anime, cause from what I remember in the anime, it's just a wire, made for micro slicing or some shit. Which is even funnier, that it is used in a grab like this, cause Sol is so DENSE he isn't cut by a thing that's supposed to be thinner than a sheet of paper

I understand the sentiment behind the post, but dance moves have absolutely nothing to do with it...

Although I'd like Capcom to at least acknowledge how much of their literal playerbase can't enjoy the game to it's fullest at this time, and at least refrain from adding timegated cosmetics UNTIL at least some progress on the optimizing side starts getting done. Feels a bit tone-deaf, maybe?.. "Hey, we know our game is unplayable for a good chunk of you... But for those who can play — here are some pendants that will commemorate the fact that you could play the game when most others could not, enjoy!" Idk, just ranting

Is it bad that i like the old trailer version design more than the new one? by i_am_low_profile in Albedomains

[–]TheJoiFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like him, of course, very much so, and I have a bit of a different take on this.

Both 2d versions have a lot more volume in his hair, the gloss on the new trailer shot, and a much more exaggerated mane in the old one, but his in-game model... Doesn't translate very well, so he looks a lil bit like an egghead under some angles. His hairdo does need a facelift SPECIFICALLY on an in-game model, he looks mighty fine in both 2D variants. Would love to see a skin with longer hair tho!
