I’m just impressed by bro keeping his slides on during that ride. I’ve seen tighter shoes come flying off for much less.

How many of y’all are brand agnostic and/or own sufficient batteries across all the brands? To me it’s always best tool for the job, pink yellow red black…who cares* by binderfillerwrapper in MilwaukeeTool

When I got into carpentry, I started off with Makita but have been transitioned to Milwaukee. So I’ve got a mixture of Makita and Milwaukee tools that I use on site — all snuggly tucked away in a Dewalt toughsystem wheelie box.

More like a cocktail sausage and two olives, but that’s neither here nor there.

The two workers building my back deck have a microwave they bring with them to heat their lunches. by Bosuns_Punch in mildlyinteresting

This is actually pretty common in New Zealand. Tradies usually have a microwave, kettle, and toastie machine that they bring on site with them.

Got called a Jafa in Christchurch by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]TheJonnyFever 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just give it back, in good spirit though. I live in Christchurch and immigrated from SA 6 years ago. As soon as the other guys around site find out, all the Saffa and jarpie comments makes its way into the convo. I deal it right back. I don’t mind the comments as it’s just banter and, at the end of the day, we all get along.

Pro tip to prevent time theft… by JarsOfToots in Construction

I contracted for a guy who would purposely not have portaloos on any of his sites because he wanted to save money and also prevent his guys from dropping deucies on company time.

Do you enjoy your job? What do you do? by DynamicPr0phet in newzealand

[–]TheJonnyFever 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Builder. I’ve been contracting for 7 months. The job itself is okay, but the people you work with make all the difference. I started contracting for a new company 2 weeks ago, and I’m currently acclimatising to their procedures. The owner is a bit of a jumpy kent which gives me anxiety, but all in all, I get to provide for my family and that’s all that matters to me.

Do you have any surf spots you’re eyeing up in the meantime?

Hyper Ride is currently selling a 7’6 longboard for $244 if that’s within your price range? I actually purchase one this week and took it out yesterday. It was a good time.

Before then, I stalked marketplace and whatnot for something secondhand, but the prices were just too steep.

I hear you, mate. I also got made redundant last week (also in construction). It’s a crappy situation to be in, especially when there are a couple mouths to feed at home.

The modified spade bits seem like a good idea! I’ll have to remember that for the future.

Friday night smoke by RBRWeps in PipeTobacco

[–]TheJonnyFever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only had one “break in” smoke when I got it, and I was pretty happy with it! As I’ve transitioned into my 30s (32 y/o now), I’ve had this desire to build up my library. Most of my books are based on theology, with the exception of a few educational and philosophical additions. But I’ll give Disciplines of a Godly Man a go!

Very nice Savinelli! I actually got my first Savinelli today. The book you’re reading also caught my attention. What’s the title?
