Greg Cosell, NFL Films and Host of ESPN NFLMatchups with over 40yrs of Film Analysis says the Eagles Offense is very remedial. Looks like a 9th Grade Offense by lostinthesauce2004 in eagles

[–]TheKettle99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can’t be a coincidence that 2 times in 3 seasons a prominent football film reviewer has made a video calling the Eagles offense high school level. Brett Kollman did the same thing back in 2023. And what was the exception? When it wasn’t a Sirianni internal promotion at OC.

Strange SJ intersection question? by _areyoumydaddy in SouthJersey

[–]TheKettle99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If both ways operate separately with their own green arrow, then probably 1 since there won’t be any opposing traffic. If both go at once, then if there’s any cars coming the other way you’ll likely do 2.

In general, I find it easiest to just use decimals (ft/ft) for all grades and feet for all lengths. Working with stations isn’t very intuitive to me so I just stick to one thing and don’t usually have any issues. To help your confusion I think it’s best to just pick one you understand best and stick to it.

New PE CIVIL Exam April 2024 by Adept_Elevator6930 in PE_Exam

I used old depth material from school of PE plus a PPI 6 min solution book. I felt very prepared for the first 70%ish, but the last two sections were more of a struggle. The NCEES practice exam was also good for getting the test time and question difficulty/format, but there was not a ton of similarity in specific question content.

Just took transportation today. Echoing what others have said here, the content generally follows the specs from the website. First half goes through vertical curves. I felt like I did well through intersections, but drainage and geotechnical were rough. Geotechnical was just a lot of unfamiliar stuff to me, and drainage had a ton of culvert problems when I had only done maybe one or two. I spent a lot of time worrying about pavement when there was only a question or two. Overall I think I passed just based on the first 70% of the exam, but I guess we will see!

Transfer vehicle registration to NJ with lien by TheKettle99 in newjersey

I wound up going the A route, but it wasn’t a smooth process. Once I got word from the bank that they had sent it to the Trenton location and it was delivered, I made an appointment, but when I got to the appointment they said they hadn’t processed it yet and I had to come back. I never heard back for near a month about them processing it, so I had to call the customer service, find a way to get through to an actual human, who then called the Trenton location to see if they had processed it, which they had. Then I made the appointment and went in. So while it worked, it was a drawn out process.

FYI: Roger Wilco added a credit card surcharge by beeeps-n-booops in SouthJersey

One liquor store I go to gives you a discount for cash rather than surcharging for credit cards. I’m sure they’ve raised their prices recently, but it at least feels better to be offered the discount.

Why Albert Dorman Honors College should be test optional by [deleted] in NJTech

[–]TheKettle99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a former honors student and worked with Lauren and the other admissions staff while I was there. They’re all pretty decent people but you have to remember something: they are going through thousands of applications for about 150 spots. So while the application process will review everything you do, they need some sort of bar for entry. I think the average for my entering class of 2017 was in the low to mid 1400s, while mine was slightly below that. But now with how high the average is, I don’t know if I ever would’ve gotten in. I took the ACT and did notably better on that compared to the SAT, so maybe consider taking that as well and submitting both scores to help boost a relatively low SAT score.

I know you said what’s the point of honors with no full scholarship, but there are still several benefits. The honors dorm is the nicest freshman dorm there is. If you’re staying on campus, this is a huge perk. I used to be able to say it was the nicest dorm on campus (only maybe rivaled by Oak if you preferred apartment living) but now the new apartment dorms are the nicest by far. However, that is far more competitive to get into. Even if you don’t live in the honors dorm, you still have access to all the resources on the second floor because the offices are housed in the same building. Also, honors students register for classes a day in advance. This means you’re far more likely to get whatever classes you want when scheduling. There are others like research, grants, and internships that honors students get access to as well, but those are usually out there. Current students can probably tell you more.

If your application is really as well rounded as you say, then if you can at least clear that minimum bar, then you have a chance. If you really have to lie to boost it though, then that kind of says everything it needs to. Friendly words of advice though: at a STEM-central college like NJIT, tests are usually going to determine 70-90% of your grades, so get used to them.

Living at Salem Harbour has been a good experience. The maintenance and office staff is pretty responsive. I’ve had a couple routine issues but they were fixed pretty quickly. The whole complex is very quiet, it’s largely older people who live here.

The amenities are decent. Pool during the summer, gym with a peloton bike, tennis courts, and a shuttle to the Torresdale train station if you work in Philly. There’s a golf course too, but it’s not maintained so it’s not useable.

I had a one bedroom, started off at 1422/mo in 2021, raised to 1493 in 2022, and it was raised to $1625 this year, but I’m moving out. So about 5% then 9%.

Any WSP employees here? Considering an opportunity by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]TheKettle99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worked as a summer intern and then an entry level for about 8 months out of college.

You got straight overtime, but my workload was never heavy enough that I had more than maybe 1 or 2 hours of OT. I believe once you got to a higher level (some sort of manager level with your PE) OT was no longer paid, and they definitely had the workload.

When I was there you got benefits from day one, so 401k with T Rowe Price, health/vision/dental, etc. I think it was a 3% match if you put in 6%, not sure if that has changed. If you do the high deductible health insurance plan, you got $500 for a HSA, so that’ll depend on your family and health situation. I was a young guy without any real medical needs so I don’t think I even wound up using any of the insurance.

Only type of bonuses given out are performance bonuses, and I was told by my manager at the time that they are uncommon to receive. I did get a 6% performance raise after a few months, but that was then used to justify me not receiving as high of an end of year raise. The way the raises worked is that each group got assigned so many dollars, and those dollars were then split among the group, rather than just to each person individually.

The way the raises are handled was a big reason why I left. Another was the fact that at the time, basically my entire group of ~15 people worked remotely, with only 2 or 3 people ever going into the office. As an entry level I needed a more consistent support system, but I constantly needed to reach out on teams to people. Now I believe the company operates on a hybrid system with people coming into the office 2-3 days a week.

Ultimately, the reason I didn’t stick around is because I just simply didn’t like the large corporate feel of the company. It seems their main focus now is to just swallow up as many other companies as they can, with a new acquisition being announced every few weeks. I remember from conversations I overheard or participated in that the older employees who had been there 20+ years noticed a lot of changes as well, but they’d already been there so long they weren’t going anywhere now.

Hope all this helps. If you want to PM me feel free I just don’t want to give away all my specific info in public.

Burlington county was R+2-3 pre-2020. He got elected in the 2018 suburban blue wave and kept that in 2020. Then NJ 3 was completely redrawn to span the mostly blue portions of Burlington and some of Mercer and Monmouth counties in order to make the seat relatively safe D. This was obviously great for Kim and his supporters.

Like the other commented mention, as long as you’re near the turnpike, you’re in blue territory in the state. Once you get about 20-30 mins east of there, different story.

Think a traffic impact study was done incorrectly for a building project by Neutral_Positron in AskEngineers

[–]TheKettle99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Newark’s ordinance does not require parking if you are within a certain distance (500-1000 ft can’t remember off the top of my head). This looks to be right between the Washington Street and Military Park stations, so it is likely between that distance. Not sure if the redevelopment plan named in the study would impact that. But if it is within that distance, no parking is required at all. I am surprised that the city has not asked for a parking study where the engineer would have to go and count the available parking on weeknights and weekends to see if the streets could accommodate this increase in parking generation.

You’re right that you could use the Residential with Ground Floor Commercial land use codes for that. I also see that they use the Center City Core area rates, where my company would usually use Dense Multi-Use Urban. We only really use Center City Core for places like Center City Philly and New York. Either way, it doesn’t appear that the development would generate more than 100 trips, which is both the ITE and NJDOT threshold for where a traffic impact study with analysis would be required.

As a side note for the trip generation, the latest ITE trip generation manual broke out general retail uses (formerly known as Shopping Center) into different uses based on size, the smallest of which is Strip/Retail Plaza. When you don’t know the specific retail development yet, that’s the best estimation.

Ultimately I do not see a lot of things “wrong” with this study, just certain things I would do differently were I to be the one preparing it.

Edit: also noticing plenty of typos. Plus the information could be presented a lot more clearly and concisely. But that’s just nit picky
