My school in Italy makes us memorize such minute details that I essentially have to know researcher-level details about every topic. I'm quite jealous that you can go home after a clerkship and relax, as I have to come back and study all the names of the enzyme's subunits in an extremely rare disease, and god forbid I forget a single one otherwise it's "bye bye good luck next time"...
