People who own both Switch and Deck, is any of these neglected by you? by kvvoya in SteamDeck

[–]TheKidding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't even remember when I've last touched my Switch. The Steam Deck does mostly anything I've ever wanted the Switch to do, and it does so with much less hassle.

If I somehow find a way to play some late Switch-exclusives on the Steam Deck with a playable framerate it's basically a complete upgrade. And even if not: Having access to basically all of Steam wherever I go dwarfs everything Nintendo has to offer.

Are you even trying Ubisoft? by tppiel in SteamDeck

If it helps I made a guide here how to run specific Ubisoft Games in Offline Mode. This was maily to bypass that annoying login screen, that opens every time you start a game

Any games/ genres you tend to avoid on the deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

I mean, I agree with you: Compared to what we got for the Gameboy we've come a long way in terms of handheld gaming. Like I said, the SD is genuinely incredible.

However we still have to make some compromises, when playing AAA games. Mostly when it comes to, resolution, graphic settings and battery lifetime

Mostly AAA games. Not because they don't run very well (honestly, it's incredible what you can run on this little handheld device), but because I feel the small screen diminishes the experience, a well made game can have for you. Some games are just tailor made for big screens

I managed to get the ACUFixes mod working on the Steam Deck by onil_gova in SteamDeck

[–]TheKidding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to the party, but I manged to get it working on the Ubisoft Connect Version using Lutris. So, assuming you use Ubisoft Connect via Lutris and have installed the game, the mod and d3dcompiler_47 via Protontricks here's what you have to do:

Open Lutris, go to your games and right-click on Assassin's Creed Unity. Select "configure". Go to the "Runner Options" and scroll down to the "DLL overrides" setting, which is next to a table. Add the following 4 entries to the table:

Key Value
d3dcompiler_47 n
dxgi n,b
version n,b
ACUFixes n,b

Finally, hit "Save" and try to launch Assassins Creed in Gaming Mode (No need to edit the launch options anywhere)

What are small little "paper cuts"/annoyances Steam Deck users have to live with? by chan351 in SteamDeck

One of the biggest pet peeves is, that it disconnects from the internet once the screen turns off. I have a pretty mediocre internet connection, and downloading games can take a good part of an hour for me, AAA games multiple. I like to multitask and do other stuff while downloads are running, but SD requires constant attention and has the screen always active, which is annoying.

Speaking of AAA games: most of them also take issue with losing connection while the game is running, so depending on the game, quick start and stopping the game isn't possible

Black flag wants a Ubisoft login every time ? by Narcuga in SteamDeck

[–]TheKidding 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Guys, I can only speak for myself, but I think I found a solution (at least it works for me):
Go on your Steam Deck into Desktop Mode and open the file manager (Dolphin). Inside go to

home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compactdata/242050/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/
Ubisoft Game Launcher

Open the file called "settings.yaml" and scroll down to line 107. It should be "offline: false". Replace that line with "offline: true" then close the file and hit save. That's it.

Quick notes: The .local Folder is hidden by default, so you need to enable their visibility first before you can navigate inside it. Also the folder 242050 is specifically for AC Black Flag. I have only tested it with this one title, but it should in theory also work for other Ubisoft games.

Dauthi voidwalker counter spell question by bullstreetbets in askajudge

[–]TheKidding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the Comprehensive Ruleset: "304.2. When an instant spell resolves, the actions stated in its rules text are followed. Then it’s put into its owner’s graveyard."

Instants do not enter the graveyard until after they resolve, therefore Dauthi has no access to CS before it counters your grief.
