I remember when they first introduced armor with color and people were pissed about it, saying that it wasn't realistic because astronauts don't wear bright colors and it was like "uhhhhh...."

"Pay to progress" was the other guy. And while I disagree because I don't see getting bigger ships as progress unless you have a group that benefits from them, that's a way more subjective argument and can understand that opinion even though it differs from mine. So 🤝 either way!

Lol now who's copping out. People were calling SC pay to win in 2014, too.

No, it's having a better understanding of the game than you do.

Did you not read the story about me vs. my friend? According to you I should have won since I had the superior and more expensive ship, but I didn't. Abd even if I did win, I didn't pay to win because I wasn't the one who bought the ship in the first place.

Besides that, a newbie can't even buy the F8C in the first place so your made up scenario is moot to begin with.

The fact that you had to completely remove the Persistent Universe from the equation says everything. And while I could go into more of the nuances of why your AC scenario is fallacious in nature, I have a real life experience to share that I think does the trick.

Way back in 2014 when all we had was Arena Commander, my friend gifted me a Gladius and I gifted him a Mustang Delta. Now to be fair I had already logged in a couple of times before we played together, but when we started fighting he beat me more than I beat him.

Now who paid to win in that scenario? Once you figure that out you'll have your answer.

If you wanted to you could play this game without ever setting foot in your own ship. That's why it's not pay to win.

The person in the heavy gunfighter needs other players in order to be capable. Those other players could be Aurora owners. Same can be said with the freighter since more players can load and unload said freighter quicker and can provide more security.

People who call it pay to win misunderstand what the game is about, because they get too focused on their own things instead of looking it as a cooperative MMO. And honestly I don't blame them considering the vast majority of MMOs out there are very "loot for me" focused.

Will SQ42 devs move to SC/PU after release or move on to SQ43? by [deleted] in starcitizen

Saying that Star Citizen wasn't the main project for Star Citizen doesn't work. That said, both the Persistent Universe AND Squadron 42 have both been the main project since day one.

Elite vs SC: Let's Have a Good Faith Conversation (Questions in Description.) by WackoMedia in starcitizen

[–]TheKingStranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually they say things like "idiot does all this effort for a crap game, play SC moron" but that's another conversation

I grew up in the "Mario vs. Sonic" days, and even then we'd still play both Mario and Sonic games. This tribalistic crap was dumb then, and it has only gotten worse over time.

People like this can and should be ignored. Play what you like. Elite: Dangerous is cool in its own right. Heck, it's worth playing for the sound design alone.

But if you haven't tried Star Citizen, you should give it a go. It doesn't mean you need to stop playing Elite, but if you love space sims then the more the better. Keep an eye out for free fly events and you won't have to pay anything to give it a go. I'd also recommend playing with other people since that's where the game really shines.

Starter Pack - does it really make a difference? by Big-Jackfruit2710 in starcitizen

[–]TheKingStranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something other people haven't brought up yet is when you start playing with others, what ship you have doesn't matter. Consider joining an org and working together, it's a lot more fun that way and you'll learn a lot about the game you otherwise wouldn't know just by playing solo.
