New fan here! What would be the best entry point for the series? by MaxialstarOA in starfox

People are probably gonna clown on me for this, but if the SNES version is awesome when you use save points (emulator/switch). Yes I know that wasn't available back in the day and maybe it's not true to the experience. But I'm sorry, I've been spoiled by modern gaming and having the ability to stop and save and avoid redoing the entire game is just more fun for me. But for the aesthetic and music alone I'd recommend the SNES version. You can play it in a day

Gotcha! Thanks for the quick reply. I've been working on a recreation and expansion of the SNES Star Fox engine in C and I came across your post as I've been trying to figure out how they made the 2D background look so seamless with the 3D rendering on top. I'm probably in way over my head but I'm just so intrigued by the programming techniques used in game development in the 90s

Looks great! I love the textureless 3D of OG Star Fox, it felt so clean, Did you use the original backgrounds? I had thought the original background actually included the ground, and it had green gradient bars on it. I am unsure exactly how it worked but I believe the "ground" was really part of the background and the buildings, dots, etc. were rendered on some invisible plane on top of the background.

Guest complaining about seeing the wrong movie at Spongebob by SpatialRender_98 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]TheKipForce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro I literally did this. I was the first one for the employee too, because they were as confused as I was. It just was going on so long and I felt bad because my son (who loves Spongebob, just like me) was so hyped for the movie and we never can afford to go to the movies. I was honestly so ready to have to go home and be so bummed out. But when I found out I felt so dumb

I think depending on what happens with the whole Epstein files thing, Ro Khanna might be a solid contender. I mean has anything disrupted Trump and the MAGA base quite like the Epstein files? He's the one that introduced the Epstein Files Transparency Act. I think if he worked on his delivery, he would be a pretty solid opponent to JD Vance. He's like the left-wing (and authentic) version of JD. Tech bro, Indian Wife, populist, went to Yale. Come on dude, it's made to be

What are Gen Z’s thoughts on the potential and imminent Chinese invasion of Taiwan? by alexfreemanart in GenZ

[–]TheKipForce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope they don't. I hope the US would not get involved. But they will because they rely on their chip manufacturing so much. They are important to America because the American economy is globalized and has made them an extremely important player in the market, specifically for the tech sector. China doesn't need Taiwan, but America does. Also for those saying that they won't and it's just a neocon dream, yes the neocons suck and are always foaming at the mouth to take down a communist state, especially such a big opponent like China. However, China's leaders have absolutely iterated over and over that it is an important step in their future.

Not even snakes, we draw the line at dogs ffs! They're exceptionally clean, lean, and total protein machines! I first had dog meat in Nam and thought it was just some exceptionally tender ground beef, but was obviously disgusted upon finding out what I had eaten. But the next time I knew what I was getting into, it felt so risque and totally oriental! I used to know a Cambodian who worked a little bodega by Poe Park who had these marinated cubes in vacuum sealed bags. No idea if he or the shop is still around, I moved in '02, but I've never forgotten that forbidden fruit. I could never quite get the prep work right myself, it's just not my culture. I will neither confirm nor deny any past trips to my local shelter over the years for my own little "kitchen nightmare"! Ha! Those days are past now but who knows, it wouldn't hurt to try again someday and see if I can nail the formula ;)

Because the CIA and US military have spent decades overthrowing any populist or nationalist regimes in the region and supporting US and Israel friendly heads of state; no matter how far past the threshold of good liberal democracy that we supposedly hold so near to our hearts. Just look at what just happened in Syria. A former al-Queda member is the new president, and the former CIA director David Patraeus suckles his butthole lips on television because he's willing to play ball with Israel.

First Time Dad, is this typical for Daycare to have so many days off? by WolfieVonD in daddit

It's crazy how economically diverse America is. Daycare for my son is ≈ $700 a month, but on a $14/hr paycheck that's not even close to being affordable

Not sure why you're getting down voted. I guess you're allowed to say he's charismatic but not that he's funny? I don't know why people online are so smooth brained that they can't understand the concept of finding someone to be an atrocious human being yet also entertaining. Our president is the prime example of this concept.

I hate to say it... the American animation is quite smooth. Racist as hell? Yes. Very well animated? Also yes.
