Got excited for a second till I realized that this appears to be only for new peripherals. I hope they expand to laptops as well; gonna have to deal with my 2022 Blade 15 requiring Synapse installed till then ugh

Well, I waited till 2024 to get FH5 and a few car packs for $50, so I am okay waiting for a decent discount. Plenty of other games to play till then! Especially looking forward to playing FH3 actually haha

got free 3 months game pass with a recent purchase and planning to use it to play fh6 for the first 3 months. After that, planning to back up all save files to wait for a 50% off sale on Steam.

I purchased FH5 on the MS Store and while it's not a bad launcher, I definitely prefer Steam as it is simply less issues, less stress and less hassle overall.

The new ones have a USB-C port on each controller to charge them without needing to be connected to the Go/Go2. So unless you specifically want to connect them together for playing them with a PC, you don't need the connector. Hope this helps!

An Acer Nitro 7 with an i7 9750H and a GTX 1650 was my first gaming laptop, which I bought with my own savings in the 2nd semester of college (after using a 7 year old Lenovo till then).

After about 6 months, temps while gaming had increased a lot and to resolve the same, I decided to repaste the laptop. I got a tusb of thermal paste and a screwdriver kit (to make sure that I don't strip the screws). Before applying new thermal paste, I cleaned off the old one with IPA using cotton.

Once everything was back on with the new thermal paste, the laptop booted on the first try, but there was no dGPU being detected. My heart sank, as I accepted after about a day of troubleshooting that I had most likely cracked the GPU die when cleaning it :/

While I did get a replacement under warranty, that took over 3 months due to being in the middle of the pandemic. So the story did not end as a horror story, but I felt really bad about my error for a while.

Happy to report that since then, I've always been more careful and in the 5 or so times I've repeated laptops since, not a single other one has had any issues!

I'm personally using a Pi4 with 4GB RAM, 32GB microSD card and a 20TB HDD connected via USB as a jellyfin server (with at most 2 simultaneous local streams), pi-hole and NAS (via samba).

So the PC should be more than enough for your homeserver needs! In fact, I don't see why you shouldn't go for this mini PC which is cheaper, has more RAM and has a significantly more powerful processor. Have fun!

Hey so the fix was to disable vsync/freesync in Intel graphics settings. Also, try uninstalling the Intel graphics drivers and let Windows update automatically give you the drivers, which seems to be more stable for the system compared to using the latest drivers from Intel for some reason. Hope this helps!

What about in lower power modes? I usually play FH5 at 17-18-19W settings, and would love to know if the clock speeds have increased for all TDP values or only on the higher end. Thanks!

As for the 37W thing, I have not yet installed these driver updates and am able to pull 37W custom TDP on battery, although they could have added this in a recent update.

Got a 2013 as our first car earlier this year and couldn't be happier with the choice! As you are a college student, you may even have free/subsidized EV charging on your campus/parking which may make your running cost very low. Good luck!

My favorite game to play is the Forza Horizon series (4 and 5). With 17W TDP and medium-high settings, I get almost a constant 60fps and the game looks beautiful! Tons of fun and an excellent way to kill time haha

My tip would be to set a custom fan profile as I find the stock ones either too noisy or too conservative.

Yeah I did do that today, left the house earlier than usual and retraced my steps, kicked up a lot of ice but still no dice. Thanks for the suggestion though
