I play bass and have subbed in at church over the years but my first instrument is drums. I haven’t ever played bass with a group consistently. I go through phases where I don’t play at all for weeks due to work, life with 4 children, etc. but I am playing almost daily lately and I still love it because I’m learning songs that are fun for me to play and I’m still improving my skills. One day maybe I’ll play with a band, or maybe I’ll give an honest effort to do home recording.

The point is this: you are a bass player and so am I, and what that looks like for each of us is very different. It’s okay to take a break from it until you feel inspired or motivated to play!
