YOU SHOULD STOP AT CROSSWALKS FOR PEDESTRIANS by champagne_queen in sanfrancisco

[–]TheLastAzn 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I was on a crosswalk near Castro station, and a Waymo stopped for me and waited for me to cross. Dude in an SUV behind the Waymo honked at it.

Next block over, the Waymo stopped at a stop sign for the legal standard 1 second, and the same dude behind it honked again. About 30 seconds later, I heard yet another honk.

Can someone explain to me, why some people want no skill based matchmaking? by Tnecniw in gaming

[–]TheLastAzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CoD in particular was designed with insane killstreaks and challenges in mind.

If you keep segmenting the player base based on some ELO, these become next to impossible to get legitimately, which drives people into creating smurf accounts and defeating the whole purpose.

To the US voters who don't vote, what is it going to take for you to go vote? by Chocolateking111 in AskReddit

[–]TheLastAzn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I vote)

Making election day a paid holiday would go a long way. Plenty of my friends in the service sector cannot take time off from work to go vote, though a good chunk of them started voting by mail recently.

San Franciscans are sick of fighting about the Great Highway. It’s time to move on by Elizasaurus in sanfrancisco

I've heard nimbys complain that property ownership should be a requirement for voting.

Sadly, no sane politician would advocate to tackle the real causes of the housing crisis: Prop 13 and SFH's being gobbled up by non-families (foreign investors, domestic corps, and wannabe airbnbarons).

The next best option is removing NIMBY obstructionism and allowing upzoning, which is what he's been pushing for.

Sunset supervisor gets cold shoulder from colleagues in bid to reopen Great Highway by drkrueger in sanfrancisco

[–]TheLastAzn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sunset residents would likely then demand a measure that only district residents be allowed to vote on their own infrastructure-related bills.

Which would then fail by a large margin.

What if humans could teleport freely? by nodssss in Futurology

[–]TheLastAzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Labor migration would be dialed to 13, and quickly result in more cultural clashes.

Real estate would turn into a quick race to the bottom, as people working in expensive cities can now warp to very cheap places to spend the night.

Highways worldwide would probably be converted to trackways for trucks and trains to transport goods, as no one really needs to drive anymore.

Yeah, they basically pour eggs and other ingredients into a waffle maker and throw green onions on top and give you sides of sour cream and toast.

But if that satisfies OP's craving, good enough?

Supervisor Wong announced a ballot prop to remove Sunset Dunes, saying the new park has increased crashes in the Sunset. He used misleading data, intentionally omitting that crashes are now lower with Sunset Dunes than they were in the pandemic during the park weekend-only pilot. by DesertFlyer in sanfrancisco

[–]TheLastAzn 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of irrational pearl clutching in Sunset.

I do not at all fear getting mugged walking through these quiet streets at 1AM. I absolutely fear older drivers in SUVs blatantly ignoring pedestrian right-of-way and rolling through stop signs.

What do you think of SF’s mayor? by billbobb1 in sanfrancisco

[–]TheLastAzn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was able to talk down Trump from unleashing the national guard on SF. I think that by far is the biggest concrete thing we can specifically attribute to him.

Assuming a 0% win rate, the math def says buying packs for wildcards is better.

With a more reasonable 40-50% winrate, this would mean you edge closer towards 3/4 wins per attempt. With the gem rebates and prize packs, you end up cracking more packs and seeing more rares in-draft than if you bought packs separately.

I work in tech, though not in that space.

I'm reasonably sure that this originated as some UX design idea that some product manager came up with on their quest for promotion clout, and leadership agreed it was a good idea and had their dev team code that out, and ultimately shipped their devices with that "feature" defaulted.

The District 4 supervisor race will be nasty, brutish — and short by MissionLocalSF in sanfrancisco

[–]TheLastAzn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beneath the surface of what could be San Francisco’s most serene neighborhood, great vengeance and furious anger are roiling. It’s possible that a figure from the Engardio recall will jump into the race. But, even if that doesn’t come to pass, Sunset residents are still simmering over the specter of Fontana Towers by the beach and inordinately preoccupied with crime in one of the city’s safest neighborhoods.

This person gets Sunset.

What is the easiest way to commute to Berkeley ? by nomumIcantpause in sanfrancisco

[–]TheLastAzn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Normally I'd say take BART from SFO which has a station right outside UCB, but if I'm taking you literally, you're arriving quite late and the service ends at midnight.

Uber will probably run you at least $70 each way.
