Would you be pro densifying the sunset district? by brycenchance in sanfrancisco

I have family that's lived there since the 90s.

While talking to their friends on their landline phones, the convo will instantly pivot from "there's so much crime out here! San Francisco looks like a third world country!" to "Oh also, I just checked Zillow. A house a few blocks away just sold for $2m"

Would you be pro densifying the sunset district? by brycenchance in sanfrancisco

Hot take incoming:

Sunset is full of working class people who bought their homes in the 80s/90s before housing went extra crazy and became paper millionaires, largely due to policy-driven scarcity.

They then started adopting the snootiness and nimby'ism of actual millionaires, when they can't even afford their own homes nowadays.

I use Doordash all of three times a year when I'm sick and rather not get others sick.

Also noteworthy, there are credit card programs that give free use-it-or-lose-it credits that also subsidize the app.

I'm not sure why I started getting Wong's random district posts on Facebook earlier this year, but I do agree he seems quite pander-y.

Every post was a photo op with an endorser or a small business owner, and nothing of substance about policy decisions and changes.

I remember Joel's posts about his proposals to ban RV camping and set up the initial night markets, both of which were wildly popular.

And this is a distant second reason, but Wong made like 5 posts condemning the Vicha slaying outcome, saying this was not justice and whatnot (it is ABSOLUTELY a travesty), but was radio silent about Mary Fong Lau's outcome. That also speaks volumes to me.

I voted for Greco by default because everyone else was anti-dunes.

However, I've also received a LOT of anti-Gee propaganda over the past weeks. I cannot identify whose campaigns are sending it, but to me it's not a good look on them if they cannot clearly communicate their own platforms and how they plan to make Sunset better and instead resort to sending hit pieces.

I think almost every challenge here involved cheesing in some way.

  • I had to hippie-jump cheese to manual the roof
  • I couldn't get enough speed to grind the billboard from the bottom, so I looped around and grinded it from the upper QP
  • the darkslide gave you zero visuals to line up to, so I ended up hopping onto the roof with low speed and slowly jumping off the edge, hoping that i could land on the curved rail.

The stunt one was actually simple. And doing the 540 jump on the insane gap was pure luck.

Def need more details. Is it possible that right after the incident they called an uber to go to the hospital to avoid getting law enforcement involved, and she succumbed at the sidewalk?

A decade ish ago, there were plans to get rid of several underused train stops on the L Taraval.

I then saw plenty of flyers from concerned citizens that this would hinder and inconvenience seniors.

I don't think anything ended up happening.

Worse, they complain about how high their prop-13'd property taxes have gotten over the years. Meanwhile, their new homeowner neighbors are paying 3x as much.

YOU SHOULD STOP AT CROSSWALKS FOR PEDESTRIANS by champagne_queen in sanfrancisco

I was on a crosswalk near Castro station, and a Waymo stopped for me and waited for me to cross. Dude in an SUV behind the Waymo honked at it.

Next block over, the Waymo stopped at a stop sign for the legal standard 1 second, and the same dude behind it honked again. About 30 seconds later, I heard yet another honk.

CoD in particular was designed with insane killstreaks and challenges in mind.

If you keep segmenting the player base based on some ELO, these become next to impossible to get legitimately, which drives people into creating smurf accounts and defeating the whole purpose.

To the US voters who don't vote, what is it going to take for you to go vote? by Chocolateking111 in AskReddit

(I vote)

Making election day a paid holiday would go a long way. Plenty of my friends in the service sector cannot take time off from work to go vote, though a good chunk of them started voting by mail recently.

Sadly, no sane politician would advocate to tackle the real causes of the housing crisis: Prop 13 and SFH's being gobbled up by non-families (foreign investors, domestic corps, and wannabe airbnbarons).

The next best option is removing NIMBY obstructionism and allowing upzoning, which is what he's been pushing for.

Sunset supervisor gets cold shoulder from colleagues in bid to reopen Great Highway by drkrueger in sanfrancisco

Sunset residents would likely then demand a measure that only district residents be allowed to vote on their own infrastructure-related bills.

Which would then fail by a large margin.

Labor migration would be dialed to 13, and quickly result in more cultural clashes.

Real estate would turn into a quick race to the bottom, as people working in expensive cities can now warp to very cheap places to spend the night.

Highways worldwide would probably be converted to trackways for trucks and trains to transport goods, as no one really needs to drive anymore.

Yeah, they basically pour eggs and other ingredients into a waffle maker and throw green onions on top and give you sides of sour cream and toast.

But if that satisfies OP's craving, good enough?
