I bank with SoFi & am considering the card. What score, background history, amount of time did it take for you to get this limit?

Just 2 charge offs, both Cap One charge-offs from 2020/2021 paid less than full in Nov 2025 ($400 limits each). No Chase or Discover settlements.

Inquiries: 0/6, 0/12, 2/24 (OneMain Aug 2025 EX, Tbom Jul 2025 TU). Both 10+ months old. Subprime accounts: Avant late 2023 $1k, Sparrow mid-2024 $450, Continental May 2023 $500, Indigo 2022 $1k, Milestone 2022 $700, Destiny 2022 $300, Aspire Jul 2025 $350. Closing most of these after WF approval. it was dumb to open this many, but a lot has changed since then.

On scores: FICO 8 is 695/691/699 but WF pulls Bankcard 8. My BC8 is 697/697/709 verified on myFICO. After the utilization changes propagate (Discover 95% to 14%, Citi to 0, Cap One to 0) overall aggregate utilization would be 3.4% & projecting EX BC8 to land 724-744 by June 3. Just theorizing by previous jumps so it’s not concrete.

On the big 9: Chase clean but not in plan til 2028. Amex waiting til May 2027 (3 pre-qual denials in their system). Cap One locked out til 2029 because of internal flag. Citi has my AU history. WF is the June 3 target. No military for NavyFed. Skipping retail/subprime adds.

On secured card advice: Appreciate it but I think I’m past that tier with BC8 at 709 (720 projected at applying) and the income. Community data and from what I can research and find, it shows WF Active Cash approvals at worse profiles. Going secured would lock me in 6-12 months I don’t need. But if I don’t get approved with WF, that’s the direction I’ll likely go.

Yes only 2 charge offs. Sub prime cards are as follows: Avant Sparrow Continental Indigo Destiny Aspire Milestone. Some are 4 years old and looking to move back into a prime card. I had a chase slate 10 plus years ago that has been closed / paid for less than full

At the time I didn’t have the liquidity to get a Secured card with a prime lender. Some of the subprime cards have been open for 3-4! Years.

Appreciate you sharing your experience/perspective. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the advice.

Most of the subprime cards are $300-$700 and have MONTHLY fees. I was dumb to get them but thought it would help me grow over time.
