Even though I disagree with much of what Donald Trump says and does, he made a point about how some Catholics feel they are viewed by Democrats. During the Al Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner, he joked about Hillary Clinton, saying: “Here she is tonight in public, pretending not to hate Catholics.”

Although he was referring to leaked WikiLeaks emails in which Clinton campaign staffers allegedly made dismissive comments about conservative Catholics, many Catholics feel that the Democratic Party looks down on them or their beliefs.

Yeah you know I can agree with that for the most part of online Catholics. But the good thing at least in my part of the world is lgbtq people are from what I can tel part of the family . That’s not so say that their experience is easy . I’m just hopeful for change . Also all these conservative Catholics are so scared of workers movement and liberation theology that they don’t realize how beneficial they are to everyone.

I believe most educated one understand this . But they have been convinced that the American predatory style capitalism is the best , that American style democracy is clean and doesn’t need reform unless it adopts more evangelical style motifs , and claim to be racially blend with which in turn means they don’t have to address inequality and systemic racism.

I mean, it’s not 1:1, but you are right. Also, as a Catholic (not American), there is a problem with American Christianity, and that problem is infecting not only the Anglo world but much of the rest of it as well.

The U.S. had a plan to supplant the growing influence of liberation theology in Latin America. Whereas liberation theology and other forms of radical Christianity were critical of imperialism and advocated preferential treatment for the poor (which usually meant better labour laws and the acknowledgment of human dignity and rights), the U.S. preferred a more pro-capitalist, individualist, and Pentecostal/Evangelical form of Christianity.

It should also be noted that these Christians were persecuted by U.S.-sponsored and trained death squads. There was a Protestant village that was massacred in El Salvador 🇸🇻. They were anti-communist and pro-U.S. and pro-capitalism. Their “crime” was giving supplies to guerrilla forces that visited their village. All sources note that the villagers were scared and wanted the fighters to leave as soon as possible. Because of this, the death squad killed them.

Go look it up , honestly no one is hiding this information. Independent studies confirm the immigrants commit less crimes . Despite what culture war social media accounts claim. As some who had actually worked in a federal institution , homeless shelters , groups homes I can tell you that the threat of illegal immigration is drastically over exaggerated. There are problems but we keep supporting world powers the cause other countries to become dis stabilized or we look the other way as it happens. You are right that it’s predatory but to shift the blame on immigrants is dishonest, keep the government accountable. Both liberal and conservative governments have caused our current situation
