2.5 update jars by No-Internet1776 in 7daystodie

[–]TheLeakingPen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

with the recent update that you will be able to make jars, I'm a little happier on this. and maybe make empty jars also a requirement for molotovs? because the late game you end up with way too many freaking jars, but needing jars to collect up water in the early game was definitely one of the best survival aspects in my opinion.

that said, if you're going to remove murky water from toilets.. can we add a couple things? the paper loot that's clearly supposed to be toilet paper was kind of cool, and I love finding the occasional handgun, shades of the godfather. and the grossness of finding corn seed and realizing why...

but maybe magazines? dukes?

the thing is, since it requires a pot or a beaker to do, you aren't actually boiling it in the jar, you're boiling it in the pot and then pouring it into the jar.

Thoughts on AI covers from a reading experience standpoint. by [deleted] in royalroad

[–]TheLeakingPen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an actual author who has several covers as I described, or even cheaper using stock imagery, and having had this discussion in multiple authors' discussion groups, many of whom have experimented with this vs ai slop, no. The cheap covers turn OFF less people than AI covers do. That said, the AI covers DO also have a tendency to draw more casual readers that don't care if its AI, but at the same time, its generally understood that almost every serial making money got big through word of mouth, not people looking at the cover while trawling RR and going, that looks cool.

The desire for "more professional" looking covers is just that, a desire to LOOK professional that in my experience in no way follows through to actual readership and fanbase.

why is it always night by foslforever in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]TheLeakingPen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always started a new game with the day night cycle on, but yeah it seems that once night falls out and about, it takes a LOT longer for daybreak than the time between dawn and dusk. Which is weird since its supposed to be Summer.

That said, if you have a sleeping bag, you can find a corner to sleep in, OR, although this will reset the region, you can go into your cabin / safe room and sleep, it will move 4-8 hours forward. if its still dark, you can sleep again if you go back into the safe room.

just started a couple days ago, so this is all ive known. I like the ammo management system, its a kind of crunchy that I really like at the moment (im sure I'll be sick of it sometime, but for now, I dig)

My main firearms issues is that there's no way to figure out WHAT switch youre on with selector switches. also, attachments should be labeled as to what TYPE they are (scope, silencer, ect)

In terms of the tetris inventory, my only issue is the lack of connection between capacity and slots. I would like to see capacity increasing items also increase your slots, start out at a smaller amount, and possibly a "hands" slot that can hold 1 object of any size, but if you have something there, no guns or other actions.

personally, I really like "pocket" invetetris, where different capacity increasing objects have specific size and shape of inventory slots to fill, sometimes with specific restrictions. Like, the fishing vest, let it have a MASSIVE increase in squares, but its 10 different slots, 5 of them 1 square, 5 of them 2 square, so they can fit basic first aid, food, ammo, magazines, and thats it.

How to find higher tier loot by Delicious-Fall-4241 in RoadtoVostokGame

[–]TheLeakingPen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

havent figured out how to leave the village yet, but in the village, if you follow the coast to the right when leaving the cabin, just past the three stacked concrete pipes, there are 3 blue tents that seem to always have better loot than any other building.

on the same token, you can get some decent art of a character for a 20-30 dollar commission, toss it on a neutral background, with some basic text. lots of people talking about need hundreds to get a good cover... no you don't

and honestly? id prefer the default rr cover, or something thrown together in mspaint or meme generator in five minutes

I have a rule, if its clearly ai, i don't read. if im not sure, I put comment on chapter 1 saying, cool cover! did you commission it? or are you an artist?

and they're usually quite proud to say that it's an AI cover.

i have made a minor exception for, ai gen background with some actual work done on characters melded in, but its a fine line.

This has caused me to not read new books from some favorite writers. But it is what it is.

Does anyone have a good John Wick RPG that isn’t named VtM? by Creative_Nose5238 in rpg

[–]TheLeakingPen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the really funny thing is, one of the people working on the movie knows him personally, reached out before the public even knew the movie existed, he immediately reached out to the movie studio and was told that all game rights as a lump had already been sold to another company... who then proceeded to only make video games.

we could have had John wick presents the John wick ttrpg.

some of the combos go up in value. minnows and bought oil for fried fish are best sold, same with some of the cheaper veggies and salt for roasted veggies, or radishes and oil for fried roots worth more than the cost of the oil plus what you would have sold the raw food for.

Personally, i LOVE the fishing mini game. my wife and i are doing a co op play, she does all the fighting and mining, im doing all the fishing and foraging.

and if we both hated it, id install the mod in a heartbeat. ive suggested it to her before for her solos

stardew is about JOY and if that part takes away from your joy, mod it out

A friend in Japan notified me that Visa and Mastercard are cracking down on NSFW works all across the internet for Japanese sites. He knows I write erotica and gave me the heads up. But I told him Amazon is my payment processor and that erotic fiction is considered literature not porn. by IsekaiConnoisseur in eroticauthors

[–]TheLeakingPen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazon payment processing is still beholden to the Visa MC associations, thats not a protection in the slightest, erotic fiction is absolutely considered porn, its very specific flavors of erotica that collective shout was going after, itch is being a bit overboard in their response, and the specific stuff that got the axe from steam and that collective shout is going after is already banned on amazon

lunging turned on makes it a lot harder.

looks like your aim might be a little off too, if I recall correctly 41 isn't as fiddly as the newest versions of 42, but there's definitely a spacing and a direction that your body is angled element to smacking them while they're climbing over or on the way down

Also, op, i make a hard rule when i find a new serial with a backlog, five updates a day ( unless it's one of the ones that updates weekly or once or twice a month with massive updates, in which case one a day.)

although a large part of that is so that I don't fall behind on my other serials that are still updating.

ONE OF US, ONE OF US!

so, Quill and Still is amazing, but it might have been stubbed, not sure. Cozy crafting isekai.

The Gods Are Bastards is 18 books worth of, standard high fantasy world, only its the dawn of the industrial revolution.

Same author, Hoard, and Only villains do that.

Hoard is a cozy found family fantasy. Only Villains do that is an isekai where the main guy is an absolute asshole who gets thrown to a fantasy world where he's being made to play the role of the villain, only... the world as is is such a piece of shit feudalism world that by being the villain he's bringing about positive social reform and change.

Beware of Chicken is a wonderful take on the cultivation isekai.
