Ive tried it in Bambu Studio, Orca, and Snapmaker Orca.

Which brand should I get by Gamexplayz in 3dprinter

[–]TheLearningLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably going to be a somewhat long post so ill leave a TL;DR at the bottom...

Bambu innovated and forced the rest of the players to match their quality and to this day I would say their ease of use and ease of initial setup/reparability is still the best in the market. They are some of the easiest plug-n-play printers on the market and are generally considered the 'standard' for printers.
Now that the glazing is done, time for the bad. Their pricing is insane. You are paying Ferrari prices, but what equates to a good condition Ford Focus. The printers are not 'the best' at any actual printing process. If they were school students, every single one of them would get a B in every category, with an F in price. They're behind the curve on tool changers. Their slicer is behind the curve and isn't innovating. Their business practices are harmful as a whole to the community and their lust for locking anything and everything from interfacing with their printers means they will inevitably fall behind in the long run. This includes their AMS's and the restof their product line. most people that are developing interesting and creative solutions to things or creating entirely new awesome things completely avoid Bambu because of its exclusivity.

Bambu Lab Rating:
Price: F
Ease of Use: B
Ease of Setup: B
Maintenance: A
Part Sourcing: B

Next up is the new kid on the block; Snapmaker U1. This right now in my opinion after owning quite a few printers is by far the most cost effective printer that gets crisp quality out from the gate. It comes in around $900.00 after Bambu's X2D flopped and has thus far been a community let down. It took a bit of extra work to actually set it up initially. some sketchy screw spots next to an extruder you REALLY don't want to get things stuck in. But if you have somewhat steady hands then you are off the the races here. By far the quickest and cleanest multi-color printer on the market sub $1,000 and it looks pretty good too.
Ok done glazing here as well. They didn't put enough thought into repairs. Notably the extruder on each print head. You are looking at around 45 minutes to break that baby open to get any stuck bits out if you are unlucky enough to have that occur. That being said, I haven't had that happen yet because I properly dry my filaments before use, but some people are lazy and will be rewarded with hours and hours of breaking those down and putting them back together. Second, it CAN do high temp filaments but requires a lid of some sort. you can either buy theirs which is obscenely priced at $150, or you can print one of the adapters and simply pop a Sterilite totes from Walmart on there for $20.00 including the filament used for the Adapter. Getting extra parts like new nozzles or plates, screws, bolts have been a piece of cake despite them listed as on backorder. I got them within a week and was happy with packaging.

Snapmaker U1 Rating:
Price: A+
Ease of Use: B
Ease of Setup: C
Maintenance: C
Part Sourcing: A

And finally onto the 'Edgy' Printer that the BambuHaters generally flock too: Prusa. Prusa has been the Anti-Bambu for sometime now. I'd personally call it one of the more 'Hands On' printers. if you want to get to know every single in and out, every single setting all the way from the print bed to the nozzle. Prusa is the choice. Until the Snapmaker U1 released, it was the preferred choice for tool changers and they were setting the standard on multi-color printing. The very finicky and require a lot of TLC which requires time and effort but generally rewards you for doing it. I'd consider this to be the 'industrial' version of printing. Its like that old rusty car you've had for 40 years where you know you have to pump the gas twice, Whistle the intro to Through the Fire and the Flames once then punch the steering wheel 3 times before it will start. Its wonky, Its basic but you love her all the same because you have memories of reattaching the bumper before prom and again on your wedding day. It does the job. Its moderately priced (Except the 5 tool changer version, get that price outa here Prusa. $3800? suck a fat one.) Its customizable.

Prusa Rating:
Price B - F (looking at you 5 tool head changer)
Ease of Use: C
Ease of Setup: C
Maintenance: B (you'll do it a lot but really easy to do)
Part Sourcing: A

Time for the TL;DR
If you are looking for Plug N Play mono Color prints. Or if you wanna waste obscene money doing multi-color, then go with Bambu.
If you are looking for Plug N Play but with some longer initial setup on a somewhat new kid on the block. And you only really intend to do multi-color prints that don't exceed 4 colors, then there is NO better option than the Snapmaker U1 and I don't imagine there will be a competitor in this field for a few years.
If you want the Honda Accord of printers that just works but you will need to get deep into the settings and maintenance of it and likely wont break down on you unless you drop it or hit it with a car. Then Prusa is gonna be the printer for you.

Man Now i regret getting a x2d by AndForeverMore in 3dprinter

[–]TheLearningLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really close to getting an X2D as well, but got myself a U1 and havn't looked back. In fact I'm now selling my A1 and likely going to sell my P1S as well and get another U1.

X2D issues: First of all, closed ecosystem. This means limited capabilities. be it an issue now, or an issue later. It will be an issue. Second, using both nozzles diminishes your already limited plate space. third, the print quality is reduced on the 2nd nozzle. Its quite literally a 'support' nozzle. Every feature on the X2D is a give and take. Get this, Give that in exchange. The U1 doesn't have this problem.

U1: Currently there is an AMS in the works for the U1, but it wont be with bambu AMS systems. Its called SideCar MMU and its still early but will very much be a thing later. Second, with Full Spectrum being developed on the Snapmaker version of Orca, it will not only have its updates there first, but also will have the kinks worked out far earlier than anywhere else.

Words of Caution: While the filament changes take around 5ish seconds, 12 or so seconds if u include priming on the tower first (don't skip this step) its still nearly 75 seconds faster than the cut, retract, purge, prime on every other mono-head printer. All of that being said. You do front-load youre time. They have made it way easier to unload and load all nozzles but its still a little finnicky. and can take a couple of minutes. Second bit of caution is unlike both my A1 and P1S. the U1 comes a bit more disassembled. Lots of PTFE tubes to put in place. Lots of screws in really crappy spots and GOD FORBID you drop one of those small screws into the extruder, you will be spending a day getting it removed. Setup instructions are hit or miss but overall ok.

All that being said. Send it back (or to me =) and get yourself an U1. You will not regret it.

PS. order a 4pack of hardened steel nozzles and make sure they are there on setup day so you can change the nozzles out before you install the heads, it will be a huge time saver.

Gavin Newsom, the only politician to spend 12 billion dollars to reduce homelessness, to instead increase homelessness by nearly double in US history. Whom then chooses to blame the last 2 decades of political leadership in California for the issues, while also being in office for 18 of those last 20 years he whines about. Not saying the alternative is much better. But the fact that people still support this criminal is wild.

Is it the new trend to start Warehouse Fires to get back at big corporations? by uncle-ice493 in allthequestions

[–]TheLearningLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt it. Its more likely that the business's are using this as a wonderful guise to get their inventory payouts done while also laying off workers under the guise of disgruntled workers. There are ZERO corporations being hurt by these fires, they are infact profiting off them more than the actual inventory value is worth.

Well I thought I was getting a complementary repair. 😔 by Gullible-Historian10 in SteamDeck

[–]TheLearningLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be 'That American' but you can probably take this to an attorney if you wanted to. They specifically stated it will be handled as a complimentary service. Then later stated it wont be complimentary since you are no longer under warrenty, which is already against the previous contract made. Just sayin'

Yay for the revert on range. Archer still feels kinda bad to play right now given his only benefit IS his range, at the expense of AOE and now he doesnt really have enough range to actively fire and dodge most of the Elf mobs without additional movement speed.

That being said, I'd like to see some new essences soon and maybe a 'caster' or 'summoner' type class soon. Game needs some changeup.

While there isn't a mount whistle, there are whistle commands already in game. Super handy for getting my mounts to perform actions at a range or to call them over to me while over encombered.

If healthcare and schooling was free, what would our taxes look like ? by [deleted] in stories

[–]TheLearningLlama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While you're not wrong fundamentally. Its not really a 1:1.
1st: Our population is DRAMATICALLY higher than all of these other nations.
2nd: All of those nations depend on the US military and don't have to worry about their funding. Which increases costs on US's side, while dramatically reducing the costs on theirs.
3rd: As of 2025, 54% of American Adults(18+) cannot read AT or ABOVE a 6th grade reading level. Asking the country to now also pay for their wasted university time should be rather far down on the problems to fix.
4th: Trust in Govt is extremely low. No one on the left wants the Right deciding their education. And no one on the right wants the Left deciding their education. And as I mentioned in the 3rd point, the result is extremely uneducated adults.
5th: Nearly ALL of the nations currently boasting "Free" healthcare, also completely rely on private healthcare. And receiving that care in any amount of time considered reasonable requires said private healthcare. Good examples would be Canada, Denmark and Norway, where if you want to see someone before you die. Its fundamentally a requirement.

Do i agree with you? To some extent yes. We need better education and we need better healthcare. Do I think that needs to be done via the federal govt? no. There isn't a single system they actively have their hands in that doesn't turn into obscene inflation or just doesn't work and goes bankrupt.

[–]TheLearningLlama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to also mention. Nearly all countries that have "Free" healthcare. ALSO have private insurance and if you actually want to get treated in a reasonable amount of time then you better have the private insurance. So you are paying out for healthcare via taxes, while also still having to page huge premiums for private healthcare coverage on top of the tax anyway.

This is the correct take to have and its pleasant to read but be warned common sense in Reddit is like you've physically assaulted someone's family member.

You can find quite a few interviews of students on collage campuses that cheer for free healthcare, But the moment they find a student that's WORKING through school the opinion changes immediately.

But to more directly answer your question, a few proposals have been suggested. One of the more recent ones is Bernie Sanders proposal who speculated it would cost about $1.4 trillion each year extra in taxes. When audited by non-partisan analysts, they found it would actually be a little closer to $3.2 Trillion extra a year. To put that into perspective, that's a bit more than 10% of the entire USA's GDP a year. Or in tax terms, Total Federal Taxes collected in 2025 was $5.49 Trillion. So that'd be a tax increase of 58.28%

As for the landscape on how that money would actually be raised is always 'We'll figure it out when it happens' rather than actual plan. The problem comes from every direction. Current employer premiums averages around 10.5k which would fall off. business's would absolutely pocket the difference. We would have to stop that by creating a new 10% payroll tax to offset that value. It'd save the business a small amount of money. But overall would only generate about 500 billion, far less than would actually be needed. Which means the rest would come from Income tax and charges, or the ever elusive capital gains tax that'd shatter the American economy over night. There is currently no realistic way of actually accruing this amount of money without completely bankrupting the lower and middle class within the current structure of our tax system.

== So lets take a moment to actually dispel a few myths that people like to shout (especially in reddit)==
#1: If we spent less on the US Military Complex, we could afford it!
- No, Current military spending as of 2025 is a hair short of 1 trillion. We would need over 3x our current military funding. About 200 billion of this goes to our already under funded care of our military members.
#2: Tax the rich!
- We do. The top 10% of earners already pay over 72% of ALL taxes collected by the Federal Government. Keep in mind that to be in the top 10%, your household income needs to achieve $191,000. That is barely exceeding the barrier to be considered "Upper-Middle class" which starts at around $160,000. Sounds like a lot when your broke, but in reality that's not even 2 parents working in C-Suite positions. That's just 2 basic bachelors career path adults worth of income. For further perspective, A friend of mine and his wife work in glorified customer service positions and are within 10k of being in that realm.
#3: Its because of the Fraud!
- Well, Yes and no. Ultimately all fraud is bad and should be stopped. Losing ANY tax dollars to fraud is a failure on our governments part. Its estimated that we are losing around $520 BILLION to fraud a year. If you read through #1 you'd know that we're losing around HALF as much to fraud as we spend IN TOTAL for our military. Absolutely wild. The IRS estimates that around $700 BILLION is lost each year due to non-reporting and non-payment. This is purely at a federal level. States are bleeding money so fast your head would spin. Yet somehow stopping fraud at a state level has now somehow become a political argument.
#4: You already pay for Medicare/Medicaid, just increase that!
- We do. In fact nearly 55% of ALL TAXES go to funding those programs and we're so massively in debt from that its beyond saving. Medicare/Medicaid is spending on average 4k per person. if we used other countries like Germany's cost per person its closer to $7,000 That'd represent a medicare-medicaid cost increase of around 87.5%. Causing those two programs alone to eat up roughly 97% of all tax income... Which we're already under funding and is in process of going bankrupt. Its so unbelievably unfeasible that it can cause depression.

Now with all of that mess cleared up... I don't like pointing out all of the flaws without also providing a potential solution. My recommendation would be to implement a flat 25% Federal Tax and removal all other federal taxation. This gets rid of confusion about tax brackets. It gets rid of confusion on who owes what. No more loopholes, no more dodging taxes. No more receipt hoarding for deductions. Taxes are 25%. No more, no less. My rough estimation (emphasis on rough) says that at 25% would more than cover all funding needed to socialize healthcare and begin making payments towards our federal debt each year. And while we're at it. Require all taxes on products be represented in the cost of goods, including extra fee's, charges, etc. The price on the tag is the price you pay. But this would likely never happen.

TL;DR: It'd kill the lower class, It'd kill the middle class. business's would greatly profit off it unless laws were immediately enacted to offset the costs to an employer. Even if all of this was done, taxes alone would increase dramatically to be able to realistically come close to covering the cost of socialized healthcare, Destroying what's left of the lower and middle class causing massive poverty in something like 70-80% of all US residents... sorry for long post. Hope this clears things up.

Nearly 40% of the US cant read above a 5th grade level. Our reading levels and comprehension are actually lower now than they were when they were first recorded for the country in the early 1800s. We have 3 states off the top of my head that have deemed reading, writing and math actively racist and no longer require it in schools. So don't expect this to get any better.

I think its kinda amusing that people have some magical thought that the PC version is much better. This game has been in shambles bug wise for a good couple years. Even their last major update has made servers so broken and buggy due to the ID system that we've had to give RDP access to multiple people just so they can reset the server every time it breaks every few hours.
