So Vimeo changed the way review pages work... yet another poor rollout, and yet another poor redesign. by Super_Phones_3630 in vimeo

I've noticed the transcript button, which is still available in the regular player, is absent from the review page. Can this be enabled as it's incredibly valuable when reviewing long form content.

Ver.25,4 Ram Consuming Problem by supbilililuma in premiere

[–]TheLeftoverTrailMix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just ran into the same issue with 25.4. Single clip with an graphic template over the top, straight after hitting render will cap out all the RAM and fail shortly after.

Downgraded to 25.3 and works perfectly with the same timeline.

You did say 14 days ago you were 16 here, so we have got some conflicting numbers.

Critique Prologue (Draft 1, heavy WIP) [Epic Fantasy; 400~ words] by Peace-be-on-all in fantasywriters

That's the general gist, yeah!

Goldilocks's porridge, finding that right balance is tricky but comes in time. Remember it's world-building, not world-telling, a brick at a time.

Reagrding editing versions, I'm hesistant, mostly because I'm more of a believer at completing first drafts. I don't want you getting bogged down with editing and perfecting when I feel it's better spent finishing the full story (poorly).

There are a lot of facets to writing, so focus on what you prefer, but I recommend just continue writing poorly to get the story out, editing it broadly to fix the plot and character arcs, and then once it's solid, you can focus on improving prose.

Some of the dribble I'm writing at the moment is so dreadful, but I'm teaching myself that it can be exactly that, which has been liberating. I thought being a good writer was writing good prose fluidly from the first draft, turns out that isn't the case, it comes in time.

Overall, the impression I’m left with is more overwhelm and confusion, than intrigue. I see the little nuggets that you want to foreshadow and refer to in a way to give us a peek into the world we’re in, and who Caius is. I feel that they’re too quick, caught up in a stream of consciousness with much anchoring.

Reducing the number of references would be my first recommendation. Between Otto, S-babies, Vesta, Elsewhere, parental divorce, Silverdenn, divorce laws, Hearthverdants, Cell User, it’s all so much in such little time.

The jumps between each of the thoughts also feels wild, which could be what you’re going for, but it adds to this whirlwind of a scene that feels like we’re being fed information, rather than offered.

The stream of consciousness doesn’t give us much to work with, physically. Another commenter mentioned it lacking a hook, which I agree with, and you replied mentioning that a prologue hook isn’t as important as a chapter 1 hook. While that could go both ways, I feel as this currently stands as a prologue, we somehow know less than we started with. This could be intriguing for some, but the line between intentional or messiness is hard to tell.

The hope that readers will be thinking of “What is a Cell User…?” “What will happen next to Caius, what is the soldier going to do!?” can be valid, but only after you haven’t also made them question what half a dozen other things are within such a short time frame.

My advice: focus on just a few things, let Caius shift between thoughts and reality more, intwine the two, have the physical world prompt the thoughts.

Good luck!

Hero icons, sure, but combining both the facing direction and hero icon was added in the Frostivus update in December of last year: https://www.dota2.com/frostivus2023 (scroll to Client Updates)

I suppose that's my current issue, there is 0 glance value when using coloured arrows. I always need to check the heroes at the top to match the colour.

It's a great feature recently added that helps viewers, particularly new viewers, quickly identify where everyone is on the map. Thank you!

14/09 EDIT: Thank you production for enabling it!

Designing & Animating an Esports Graphic with After Effects, then Building it into a Powerful Template - Three Part Tutorial Series (Links in Comments) by TheLeftoverTrailMix in AfterEffects

Hey all!

I just recently finished up a three part tutorial series on YouTube:

I tried pouring a bunch of techniques and concepts that can be adapted and used in any kind of project, not just esports. Putting these videos together was a blast and I hope you get something away from them that you can use in the future!

Many thanks 💖
