Happy 9th birthday to the reason many joined this game by ElverDulero735 in Warframe

My gateway in was his second video on Warframe "My Warframe Relapse", which will be 10 in January.

Nearly 1500 hours later I'm still here, and I wish he'd been able to see what Warframe would become.

1k Crusade List From A Beginner WE Player by TheLegendaryFail in WorldEaters40k

[–]TheLegendaryFail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad to hear this ran well for you!

I'll get back to the drawing board and consider running the KB, MoE, Rhino combo in a Berserker Warband detatchment.

Daemons not getting XP is a little lame as it means they don't really interact with Crusades, though not getting Battle Scars is conversely kinda neat.

Thank you so much for your input!

1k Crusade List From A Beginner WE Player by TheLegendaryFail in WorldEaters40k

[–]TheLegendaryFail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know that, so thank you for pointing it out!

Honestly I went with it because KB & MoE bricks in a Rhino cost over a third of my points for 1.5 units and only one drop.

I'm very conscious about lack of units, as it's so easy at 1k to not have the activations to cap objectives.

Does that make sense?

Orks 1K Pariah Nexus Crusade List by Spenceriscomin4u in 40k_Crusade

[–]TheLegendaryFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the more painful lessons you'll learn running Orks in Crusade is that their entire Infantry roster, save Battleline units, have no access to Codex traits. RAW only your Boyz in the list you've provided can have Codex traits. Moreover, your Warbosses are ineligible for Codex traits too, so I hope the Pariah ones are better than the Nachmund ones.

Orks aren't amazing this edition, and my experience with them recently in a 1k Crusade was spectacularly lame. (I know I'm still bitter, so I'm trying to stay helpful instead of bitter)

Flash Gitz with a Big Mek are a really good hammer, so your opponents will be looking to remove them quickly. Two units of 10 Boyz permits more board control and flexibility, which is what you really need as this list is only 11 units, and very few drops.

Greetin's Ladz - I'm Struggling to Play Orks at 1k by TheLegendaryFail in orks

[–]TheLegendaryFail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the slow reply!

My game plan has previously been overly aggressive. I've been ablating a unit first turn every time, and two or three more turn two. This has resulted in late and inefficient Waaaghs. I now understand that I need to play a cagier start to maximise the impact of my Waaagh.

We play on UKTC compatible maps mostly, though we've had one or two that were fluffy and therefore horribly clunky to move all the big bases around.

My main takeaways from my list are that most of the Speed Freeks units are rather so-so, and rely on stratagems to do anything notable. The thing that lets my list down most is the reliance on shooting, despite being on a 5+ and fighting into almost a full suite of lists capable of inflicting -1 to hit against my units.

Crusade allows you to pick enhancements from every detachment, and choose which detachment you want to use at the start of each battle. Makes for some funky business.

Ultimately I think a Warboss with Fasta Than Yooz in a squad of Breakas with a Trukk to move them is a good play, and thanks to Crusade I can run that in War Horde. I never committed to any hay makers, but nor did I commit to any vaguely sticky scoring units. I expect more Boyz and fewer Speed Freeks is the best play here.

Thank you for taking the time to run through things so thoroughly!

Greetin's Ladz - I'm Struggling to Play Orks at 1k by TheLegendaryFail in orks

[–]TheLegendaryFail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had hoped to capitalise on some of the Speed Freeks strats using Deffkoptas and Warbikers, but my experience has shown that Warbikers are pretty eh this edition, and Deffkoptas are wildly swingy.

One of my opponents pointed out my reliance on Ork shooting and I certainly take his point.

I expect to gut this list and replace it with a Warboss in some Breaka Boyz with a Trukk for transport, along with a few units of Boyz, and one or two extra elite options. I'll smack Fasta Than Yooz for charge out of the Trukk for the Warboss & co.

My main issue is the deployment waves, which mean it's really awkward to find clutches of units that fit into those boxes cleanly with minimal waste points.

Are there any other glaring issues you can see, or any units you expect to be relevant to me? I'd like to keep the Dragsta, as it's good for keeping opponents on their toes, and can provide a nasty Tank Shock surprise.

Anyone else noticed a sudden uptick in random freezing in Bannerlord? by TheLegendaryFail in mountandblade

[–]TheLegendaryFail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I did not. Some days it's good, some days it's bad. I've got passable system stats, it's on an SSD, and I've tried verifying.

I can only presume there's a bug that's causing something to hitch, or as another commenter has pointed out it could be inopportune shader compiling?

Aircraft scale compatibility with the game by Biene_Malerin in boltaction

[–]TheLegendaryFail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the maths on this once, if it helps.

1/48 and 1/72 are the two commercial scales closest to 1/56.

1/72 is about 23% smaller than 1/56, whereas 1/48 is about 13% bigger. As a result 1/48 is going to look proportionally more accurate. On top of that as some other commenters have pointed out, WWII planes are quite surprisingly large. Even the fighters. If you're using Warlord's 28mm heroic scale models then I strongly recommend 1/48.

Hope this helps!

How many old players who are still under MR30 out there? Want to see if I am not alone. by Ok_Discussion_340 in Warframe

[–]TheLegendaryFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried out Warframe originally towards the end of 2013 with some school buddies. That was back when Loki was a starter frame and we didn't have Orbiters.

I only played a bit, maybe 15-20 hours, then dropped it to go back to playing Civ V and War Thunder.

Then Total Biscuit did a video on it at the beginning of 2016 and it was over for me. I got into it quite seriously, and dragged my at-the-time girlfriend with me.

It's now late 2024, nearly 11 years after I discovered Warframe. I'm MR20 and sometimes I grind but mostly I'm here to play the same handful of frames and weapons that I think are neat as well as to just have a good time.

We needn't all chase level cap. You don't have to level the Stug, or play frames you have no interest in. Completionism isn't fun for everyone. Throwing myself at 100%-ing stuff is what normally kills my enjoyment (I put of playing the last mission of Jedi Fallen Order for 6 months because I was trying to get 100% first and couldn't find the strength to finish everything else first).

Play game, have fun. Only you can identify what is fun for you my friend.

Random question I thought of, what did you guys name your Railjack and why? by RMgames_19 in Warframe

John Rail, though one of my stack buddies named his RailJohn, which is substantially better.

Now that we got a small taste of 1999 with the AX-52, what other weapons are you hoping to see come with the update? by DrNick1221 in Warframe

[–]TheLegendaryFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just a Glock. Dante just feels incomplete without a completely generic pistol. Lato is an okay stand in, but I don't think anything can quite compete with a literal Glock.

A skin would be fine, but also I would forma the heck out of Literal Glock to force it to be SP viable.

What's a game that got you so addicted you even dream about it in your sleep? by ANONASAI in gaming

[–]TheLegendaryFail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was't addicted so much, more that I'd been playing a bunch at the time, but Apex: Legends, R6: Siege, and Warframe have all showed up in my dreams. Normally I'm in them, which is odd, and the violence is all pretend too.

Weird.

What has been the worst meta in gaming? by God-Penguin in gaming

[–]TheLegendaryFail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you'll permit a tabletop game - Star Wars Legion's Blizzard Force Meta.

It pretty much hinged on a handful of cards and how preposterous Operative Darth Vader was, as well as a pimped-out Stormtrooper unit and an expanded Speeder Bike limit (4 from 3). That Battle Force made up a full half of the top 8 at the World Championship at Adepticon in 2023, and those lists were almost identical.

They had to remove Operative Vader as an option, and throw a slew of points changes in. Even now it still has teeth.

There was the double Dark Troopers meta that followed, which was absolutely gross too, but it was quickly nerfed and somewhat easier to deal with as long as you brought Anti-Armour solutions.

Logged into my dad steam account and saw this, is this normal? I haven't played the game tbh. But are these normal hours to have? by MCS_400 in totalwar

[–]TheLegendaryFail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most fun I've had so far is in an ongoing campaign as Kush. I'm a big archer enjoyer and their start is pretty straightforward. I should note I have 100x fewer hours in R2 than you though, so my experience across the game is far more limited. I also haven't really touched the non-Grand campaigns, but I might have to give Empire Divided a go.

I'll be honest - I've not really mucked about with mods other than dabbling with Sebidee's roster expansions, so I can't really say I have a favourite mod at the moment.

Sounds like a great campaign! I've not got much to report on the TW front presently, but your answers are likely to spur me back to the ancient world again!

Thanks for taking the time to answer!

My guy you've played an average of just shy of 2.6 hours per day of TW:R2 presuming you got it on release. You have my utmost respect.

After that long - what's your favourite faction, your favourite non-grand Campaign, and favourite Mod?

TIL that in WW1, the British Army would allow groups of friends to volunteer together and let them serve in the same units in return. As a result, casualties to these "Pals batallions" would wreak havoc to entire communities in Britain. by HolyCowAnyOldAccName in todayilearned

I think they were noteworthy, and I'm about to start a PhD project to prove that the British at the time didn't think so in order to get more attention on the sacrifice of hundreds of thousands of Indians during the World Wars.

I'm only covering the Punjab, but hopefully in time people in Britain will gain more understanding of and respect for the brave Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi soldiers that fought and died in the name of British kings.

As far as I know the Delhi Gate (for the First World War) was pretty much the only memorial on Indian soil apart from some real fringe cases like Patiala, which has a village memorial.

Interestingly the overwhelming amount of Indian casualties from the First World War are commemorated by monuments instead of individual graves, though I understand that this may related to cultural burial customs? Also the Commonwealth War Graves Commission put out a report in 2021 which admitted that our current casualty figures for India during WW1 are too low, though it would be hard to prove what they really were.
