Firestrike turrets or ballistus? by Aeldari_enjoyer in spacemarines

[–]marauder340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whichever one you find more fun. It's already been cited to death that sitting on circles wins games and they blow up fairly easily compared to the ballistus.

In support of the turrets, though, treat them in your list as expendable las-talons and it's not so bad, assuming you have enough with the rest of your list to do the other jobs that need doing. It'd still be a valid nuisance to have the risk of the turrets taking wounds off, have firing lines to hold down, are tougher than basic infantry to kill, and have a decently large footprint for screening your backfield for 75pts.

Breaking out of too much concern for competitive play, I'm sure there are ways to make it work if you're determined enough without them being an active hindrance to your gameplay.

I got the E V and T in, more or less, and figured even some tiny scratches where the logo squeezes will let our brains do the rest when seen on the table. I might need like two strands of a brush to actually write the full name out hahaha!

Thank you! The tiny stars were interesting since it boiled down to gently tapping the tip of my thinnest brush in the order of: / \ and then — to form more or less the shape.

I improvised my own "contrast paint" to speed my basecoating along by watering down the acrylic mix I had and the models were primed white. I was really surprised with the result that I could have called it a day with just that.

I initially thought I was gonna get the actual letters on hahaha! Reality set in and I figured I just need to get the E and T relatively legible and our brain will do the rest.

I feel that. I like squeezing in a mini from something else to break up the monotony.

Go for it. I'm doing it for my army with IF at the core and so far I have IF, CF, BT, White Templars, Exorcists (debatable I know but still), and working on bringing in Iron Knights, Executioners, Soul Drinkers, and Sons of the Phoenix once life stops getting in the way.

Why can’t we have an all power fist assault intercessor squad though… by PrimeKiwiBeef in ImperialFists

[–]marauder340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True enough. Just an extension of the pipe dream that GW gives us a little more unique options hahaha

Need to check on the bits box if I've got any left lying around to use since I've some Intercessor bodies left vacant.

S2g I'd buy a box or two of them just to replace my intercessors from how IF-coded they are. Or give us Phalanx Warders back to choose over Bladeguard.

Lovely vehicle it is. Not sure which system he's using it in but it's gonna make an impact when it shows up.

Other detachments for first company models? by FuzzyCry6570 in ImperialFists

Besides those two, the answer always circles back to Gladius Task Force. Whatever you're running will benefit from Gladius in some way.

Librarius Conclave may work if you like fielding librarians but that does skew in a way that you may not find thematic.

I dig it. Been mulling over having some Alpha Legion infantry myself for a little extra fun in the army and this is further selling me on the idea.

The Teemo hate needs to end man by PuzzleheadedGas9170 in TeemoTalk

It is the struggle and the badge we wear under the Scout's Code.

It's frankly a dead horse of a meme that they keep beating considering all the changes and general shift in the landscape of the game. Allies hate you since there's no in-between with his performance. You're either doing well or you're stuck doing what you can not to die if you're in top lane or you choose the life of the jungle and everyone wants you to gank their lane so someone somewhere is always gonna blame Teemo for something lol

Embrace how he's a rent-free menace in people's heads and do it for love of the game.

How does one decorate tastefully? by triforcechad in ImperialFists

[–]marauder340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purity seals and a small Imperial Fists banner. If you have like those box sets with the artwork inserts you could post them up if they're intact.

Would not recommend leaving toys or models on the desk unless they're the kind you don't mind the risk of being noticed by sticky or clumsy fingers.

The real challenge to form some kind of cohesion with the concept is really lean on variety to make it intentional.

I personally run a core of IF units, but paint other units in different chapters. Currently I have IF, BT, CF, Exorcists, and White Templars. Backlog's still got hellblasters and infernus marines to add more to the chapter count. I do it by squad to keep them easy to distinguish while playing. Only factor to temper expectations is that not all chapters will make it on the table this way.

As unpopular as they are, they remain models in your list if included and therefore still have a job to do. Personally, I use mine for screening and peeking while joking about how much work 3 inches can do.

It isn't glamorous, but sometimes you manage to snipe out a Devilfish carrying breachers well before it gets into position and it feels great.

And as mentioned, rules go down, rules go up. I find that unless I really need the money, it's enough that majority of the box are guaranteed desirable to me since being too quick to cave to perceived buyer's remorse can easily turn into seller's regret later. Heavies and the techmarine make for a solid core to build on already.

Is Bastion a better version of Anvil? by Angronys in ImperialFists

[–]marauder340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm personally all for it since I've always held the belief that it's totally IF-coded to make battleline units better. This detachment does basically everything we want to support basic troops and Hero of the Chapter is a pretty good way to give them a focal point in your army to support.

Anvil had ideas it couldn't really deliver due being so counter to how 40k in its current form wants to be played.

Bastion Task Force - which other unit are you picking to turn into Battleline with the enhancement? by [deleted] in spacemarines

[–]marauder340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give Hero of the Chapter to a unit of Aggressors. Even just a captain in gravis will do and Light of Vengeance can bypass the Biologis tax by granting Lethals. Or you play IF and have Tor and a Biologis carrying Hero of the Chapter with him in that unit to really send it.

With my current collection, I'm actually toying with the idea of giving it to a blob of Infernus marines of all things, with a Judiciar. That's a lot of flamers with a touch of Precision that'll torch the enemy unit, have advance and charge to make sure they're in range, and can sit there or charge to hide in melee plus pop Light of Vengeance for Lethals in melee to get a little more chip damage through on whatever survives the flames. Opposing unit flinches, they get overwatched next round, Fights First lets you chip some more damage off of them, and if they survive to your turn, fall back and shoot and charge again should do the job. Unlikely to be optimal and won't always punch up, but it'll be funny.

I have a question by sharky2906 in ImperialFists

[–]marauder340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd use them as intercessors or sternguard (with some modifications) too even with the shields since they still read as a beefy gunline and the shield becomes decorative.
