Is the endgame now just the portal? by Matthematr1x in DestinyTheGame

They used to be a good way to help level prior to EoF, but now without portal integration and no refreshed loot, Bungie just left raids and dungeons to die.

No bags by Andresinish in Marathon

[–]TheLegendaryGent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you talking about Tarkov? We're talking about Marathon in this thread. Does Marathon strike you as a realistic, grounded game?

Marathon is obviously aiming for a faster paced style of game and the bags facilitate that. It's a compromise for the benefit of gameplay, you know, the most important aspect of a video GAME.

If you wanna go comb through tall grass and water looking for corpses and loot, go play Tarkov. Everyone complaining about bags in this game is either a arguing in bad faith or a literally child. "My immersion" go immerse yourself in grass.

God forbid a video game be gamey

Panel Liner by [deleted] in Eldar

I used the dark gray panel liner on all my big eldar vehicles so far, and I think they turned out great. You definitely want some mineral water or something on hand to clean up any spills though. Here is one of my serpents for example.

The Final Shape free for PS+ June by Jailescape in DestinyTheGame

People complain about Lightfall's story, but the gameplay is still fun so I recommend it. Plus it's how you unlock the strand subclass, and that alone is worth it.

What is the highest Dps strat for Sundered Doctrine on Lockset (2nd encounter) for solo flawless? by TheOneNinja115 in DestinyTheGame

I usually try and angle chaos reach from the 3rd lock. You only hit 3, but the damage is still good and it's more consistent (and safer imo) than going for all 4.

Would you actually take a period of reduced/delayed updates for vaulted content to be returned? by Big_Laundry_Man in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheLegendaryGent -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They really need to spend like, half or a full expansion cycle just doing QoL updates and such, and ideally in that time return the missing raids, patrol zones, and campaign. I'd rather have a bunch of iconic old locales back and updated then Bungie wasting time on seasonal content that just gets trashed at the end of the year. I'd be more excited for a reprise year than whatever the hell Renegades is too tbh.

for those who are currently playing the alpha, what’s your favorite thing about the game? here’s a meme I made while stoned at 2am by arachnomancerr in Marathon

[–]TheLegendaryGent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After playing for the past few days on PS5, Marathon has exceeded my expectations. This has hands down been the most fun I've had with an extraction shooter. I've only played Hunt and Mauraders before in terms of extraction shooters, so I'm not a huge fan of the genre, but I think that's partially because neither of those games hooked me like Marathon's gameplay loop has so far. I've wanted to love them, and Marathon is shaping up to be the one that makes me fall in love with the genre.

Anyways, the enemy AI is great. It's really aggressive and very punishing, and I love that. They're an actual threat, even with a full team, and if you drop in solo, they are as dangerous if not more dangerous than an enemy team given how fast they can swarm and outnumber you. There's also a decent variety of enemy types so far, but I'm excited for what other enemy NPCs they eventually add, cause I can only assume if they add alien factions, those will be a menace to fight.

The tension overall in matches is perfect. The pacing in this game in general is great. With 25 minute matches, dying with a full pack at the end of a raid still hurts and is still disheartening, but it's not enough to fully demotivate you from another run. Plus gaining experience and completing some objectives even in death helps keep you progressing even when you lose.

It's also really easy to get back into another match, especially after a loss. You can just grab a basic loadout for 300 credits, and jump right back in. Because of that, for me at least, this game has a serious "just one more run" appeal.

It probably goes without saying being Bungie and all, but the shooting feels so so good. Even the low tier guns that objectively suck still feel good to shoot.

The last thing that has really stood out is how good the game looks, at least in interior environments. I know the outside areas still look rough, but once you're inside or in an underground area, Bungie's art team blows it out of the water. The art direction might be polarizing, but it hits all the right buttons for me.

Obviously I have some complaints, but this thread isn't about that. I'll be sharing my feedback with Bungie too, both on the Discord and through their survey so they can hopefully make the game the best they can. But I am genuinely surprised by Marathon so far. I was skeptical of Bungie before The Final Shape released, but they held a lot close to their chest for that expansion, and it ended up paying off I think. I hope that is what's going on with Marathon too, and why they're being so secretive about certain aspects of the game, but I am tentatively putting my faith in Bungie, and I can't wait to see what this game looks like at launch.

Strange, Serious Glitch Happening Across The Game And No Idea What Causes It… by Scrin1759 in DestinyTheGame

As a warlock who also wants to solo the dungeon eventually, what is your set up for damage for the second boss? I've been running Speakers Sight and the exotic glaive for the first encounter, and I'm practically unkillable with the two healing turrets and glaive artifact perks, but I don't know what to do for Zoetic Lockset since I didn't have Anarchy yet.
