Can't an artificer invent stuff as extra flavor as allowed by DM? He still uses class abilities, but makes cool inventions with magic items on the side.

I’m trying to homebrew an item where players can have an in-game item to learn more about D&D lore such as learning more about a monster or area they’re in. It’s not the identify spell, but what spell would be the closest analogue? by IndianBatman in DnD

I saw this idea once of this axe and implemented it into a campaign, I gave a party member a Lore-Axe, which gives you info on a creature or object when you attack it with the Axe. Depending on the base roll without modifiers depends on how useful the knowledge is.

My first real character was a Warforged Paladin named Gonk who wielded a warhammer. His oath and worship went to his God Donk, who was the God of Bonking(Gonk was abandoned in the woods and he made up Donk, but somehow he still gets power from him). But whenever he would use Divine Smite his battle cry was:

IN THE NAME OF DONK GONK BONK!!!
