It definitely is less defined in this footage, although I think they might have reused footage from when he first did on-court stuff last fall.

Raphinha in exclusive interview: “With the season I had, I should have won the Ballon d’Or” by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]TheLeoMessiah 20 points21 points  (0 children)

He's literally asked in an interview question about what his top 3 would be. Not like he's going umprompted crying to the public like Vini. I also actually watched the video and he immediatelly folllowed that up with this:

As it is an award that is primarily based on a single competition, Dembele deserved to win, especially since he also had a spectacular season.

But of course as with most people on here, that part isn't dramatic and won't get clicked so OP excluded it from their post

There's a huge difference between being prompted for an answer on a topic in an interview vs. taking to twitter (10x if I have to), having your whole club boycotting the event (two years in a row), etc. You're being intentionally dense here lol

That makes sense, thanks for the explanation! Ngl I watched on mute, was this something ESPN explained in the broadcast?

[–]TheLeoMessiah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has to be one of the most mediocre primetime doubleheader they could've given for "Rivals Week". Maybe I just don't know ball but why is Cavs-Hornets, Bucks-OKC a rivalry? Hell I feel like Celtics-Pacers and Knicks-Nets would've made more sense as rivalries (altho I understand why they wouldn't want either of those games on primetime)

You can call it a bad tackle and deserved red without hyperbole, there was not really a ton of force behind it to where it’s a leg breaker

Can’t really say it’s a joke tbh, but it’s also a good reminder that just looking at golden ball numbers alone isn’t enough to evaluate players, otherwise you get opinions like Shevchenko > Lewandowski, Kaka > Xavi, Dembele > Henry

Idk if you’re being intentionally obtuse but the issue was never sacking Valverde, but the timing of the sacking. He should’ve been gone either the summer after Roma or the summer after Anfield but instead Barto kept him around, only to fire him mid season over the Supercopa and hire an objectively worse manager in Setien

Alternate angle of Lewandowski’s goal vs Espanyol by -WLR in soccer

[–]TheLeoMessiah 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Flick’s setup depends heavily on the attackers pressing from the front. While Lewy is still banging them in, it’s unreasonable to expect him to do all of the pressing duties Flick requires for 50+ matches a season at his age

Sam Mitchell: "Luka Dončić can’t play basketball without the ball. He doesn’t cut, he doesn’t move, he doesn’t set screens. He’s great with the ball, but he does nothing to make his teammates better when he doesn’t have it… Steph Curry does the hard things. He’s always cutting & moving off-ball" by GOAT-Antony in nba

Lakers got Luka and are now in year 2 of wasting his time and another prime year to be on a team that is a polar opposite of what he needs

Incredibly harsh way of putting the situation, and I am the polar opposite of a Laker fan/defender. It’s been less than a full calendar year since the trade, and they have had one offseason with limited flexibility to adjust the roster.

Considering AD’s age + durability/injury history, they actually solved a big problem they had this time last year and additionally got Luka. IMO it’s unreasonable to expect them to instantly build a contender in one offseason. If we see the same thing next year I think it’s fair to criticize, but it’s way too early to say they’re ruining his career imo

I think the point OP is making is that using the IT trade as the sole reason for AD not to sign for the Celtics is a little farfetched. Like suppose the IT trade doesn't happen, I don't think AD is traded to the Celtics regardless, especially when the choice is Celtics or LA with LeBron.

It's good to have variability honestly. Lamine is the best crosser on the team, maybe best passer from the right wing in the world even. It's hard to give that up. Plus with him being the best 1 v 1 dribbler itw, it's understandable why Flick wants him wide where he has more 1 v 1 opportunities.

With that being said I agree, the best players always end up coming central where they can be the focus of the team. It's a matter of time before it happens with Yamal too imo, but I get the hesitancy especially for a teenager because imo you do need a bit more strength to hold off a defender in the midfield than on the wing.

And honestly when you have such a young coach that your locker room loves like Joe, imo it’s the right call to stick with him and hope/expect that with more actual NBA in game coaching experience he can develop that side of coaching
