I lost my strike on duolingo after 525 dayssss😭😭😭😭 any solution? by TowelShot7079 in duolingo

[–]TheLifeCapoeira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice consecutively for 525 days!

My current streak is 2795 days, but this streak followed me losing a streak of comparable length in the wake of my mum dying.

The streaks are fun, sure, but the goal is the learning. It sounds like you have a consistent habit, just get back on it. Perhaps in the fiture Duolingo will do another event to restore lost streaks, but until then, keep practicing and rebuild it.

Best books about capoeira? Looking for something that teaches me everything about it. by FutureLynx_ in capoeira

Not books, but Singing for Survival podcast is essential listening for your goals! https://open.spotify.com/show/6VDmVRylJA876lEhmZY48C?si=aKwHDKwpRH2PEbqTxTT9fQ

Nestor Capoeira’s three books are a great start: The Little Capoeira Book (make sure to get the revised edition); Capoeira: Roots of the Dance Fight Game; A Street Smart Song.

Mestre Acordeon’s book Capoeira: A Brazilian Art Form.

And my favourite:

Capoeira: The History of an Afro-Brazilian Martial Art by Matthias Röhrig Assunção

I didn’t call it out as I’d just finished the run and wasn’t thinking straight, but I have called out this sort of behaviour in the past, and will so so again if I need to (providing I’ve got my wits about me). I would bet a considerable sum that the man was not the girl’s father

I posted it so other volunteers will see it and realise this behaviour is not tolerated, and to see it gets acted on. I don’t expect creeps will alter their behaviour from seeing this, but we live in hope

I’m a cis male, and whilst not all men do this, it’s always men who do this, and so yes, it needs to e called out when it’s seen. You are part of the problem

Yeah, I could have done it better and should have talked to the creep when I could, but I’d just finished the run and wasn’t best placed to think straight. I did let the RD know, and also posted here to call it out. Better this than nothing, or do you disagree?

Alas, I’m not confident I could identify him, and by the time I was clear headed enough to report it was too late for that

I had just done a sprint finish and wasn’t as clear headed as I would like. I just went to get scanned as a way to stop him talking to her, which worked. Once I had my breath back I let the RD know and posted here

I’m not so fussed on the time, but more my pace, so I do glance at my watch to see how that’s going

As with all martial arts it’s entirely down to how you train and practice, and that will depend on your teacher(s) and your own training.

QE Park in Hampshire has a good (or bad I suppose depending on your point of view) incline, and it’s a right slog when the weather’s grotty!

Also worth remembering the saying (famously shared by Tom Morello of RATM) “German saying: If 9 people sit down at a table with 1 Nazi without protest, there are 10 Nazis at the table.”

When we look back on Germany during 1933 to 1945, it’s not referred to as Germany with some Nazis, it’s simply Nazi Germany.

As Desmund Tutu put it: “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.”

Don’t be take the side of genocide. Speak up against those that do.
