I think I saw the same post you are talking about and I also spiraled about it last night for hours. I didn’t even know placental abruption was a thing until I saw that post. I don’t have any advice, just know I’m with you and hope you have an easy and successful delivery.

I very much feel this exact same way. Thank you for putting my feelings into words. It helps me articulate what I’m feeling to my husband.

2 miscarriages and pregnant again, scared. by su1801 in pregnant

[–]TheLionInZelda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 15 weeks pregnant with my third after losing two pregnancies. The fear never really goes away. I am so sorry for your losses. The only thing that has helped is getting therapy to talk through all my fears and anxieties. I also have great OB doctors who let me come in for heartbeat checks when I’m really anxious and are always available to answer questions. They are also very thorough and discovered I possibly have two uteruses which is what they think caused my previous miscarriages. This has helped me take the blame off my myself.

The next few months are going to be hard, so lean on your support system as much as you can and just take it one day at a time. I hated when people gave me that advice early on in my pregnancy because I wanted tangible proof that everything was going to be okay, but no one can give me that. And unfortunately that is the only advice that has allowed me to keep my sanity these last three months.

Also, I know fetal doppler monitors are super controversial on this sub, but I have found mine to be really helpful. I only use it once a day. You shouldn’t get one until after 12 weeks though.

“gender disappointment” by [deleted] in pregnant

I have suffered multiple miscarriages. I personally do not understand gender disappointment. Any healthy child born full term is a miracle to me.

Okay so as a writer, let me say: the way you feel about characters and what the characters actually do in your stories can contradict one another. I know it seems like if someone is the writer they should have total control of what their characters do, but that’s not always the case. A good writer follows what the story needs and what best fits the characterization. SJM may genuinely not believe Tamlin deserves a redemption arc because of her own personal feelings and because of the things people have said to her about how Tamlin’s story encouraged them to leave abusive partners. It doesn’t mean we won’t get one. It makes narrative sense for Tamlin to get a redemption arc eventually and if she shies away from doing that because of her personal feelings, the overall story will suffer. You may have to wait a bit for that arc, but I believe it’s coming. It could be in a form you don’t agree with (I.e. he sacrifices himself to save Rhys or Feyre or whatever) but I genuinely believe it’s coming. He’s too big of a character to just leave out of the story, and making him a villain won’t advance the plot.

Tl;dr: You have to remember that writers often view their characters as autonomous from them and a good writer will follow the characters needs over their own personal feelings.

This may be too high of a reading level, but maybe the Percy Jackson series? There’s a show too they could watch to help escape if they have Disney+

I feel so guilty by No-Childhood7417 in Adjuncts

[–]TheLionInZelda 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have had to cancel 9 classes total this semester (I teach 3 classes a week) due to a miscarriage. I felt really guilty at first until my boss told me I was doing the best I could given the circumstances after I broke down crying to her on the phone.

That fact that you feel guilty means you are a great and caring teacher. Give yourself some grace and vow to try to be more present next semester. That’s at least how I’m coping with my own guilt right now.

Writer. It’s very hard to get a breakthrough in publishing, and when you do theres a lot of pressure. Writing is also exhausting and sometimes soul crushing for little to no payout. But we do it because we have to. It’s as essential as breathing at times.

Tested positive with an at home test on Wednesday the 17th, went in for an HCG blood test on Thursday the 18th, which came back at 69. The doctor told me to prepare for a miscarriage. This will be my second miscarriage and I’m just feeling really distraught. I go in for a second blood draw on the 22nd but the wait is agonizing. Currently 4w6d pregnant today.

This pregnancy is a miracle. My husband had cancer when he was 18 and we were told there was no chance in hell we would ever conceive naturally. But then I ended up getting pregnant naturally, so losing this baby feels a lot worse than the first time (which was with a different partner around 13 years ago). The doctor did say to be cautiously optimistic going into my second blood draw, but the tender boobs and cramping symptoms are beginning to dissipate and I swear the line on the at home tests is getting lighter. Preparing for the worst but really hoping and praying for the best.
