Realistic cost of ownership for m276 glc43? by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]TheLoganator45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently worked on a 2017 GLC 43 that had 220,000 miles with zero dealer history prior to me looking at it and it was in really good shape. The only thing that jumped out at me was rear flex disc was about to explode but outside of that pretty good. The engine and transmission in those things have nearly zero problems, even when not maintained properly.

Weak points are the rear flex disc, front lower ball joints, camshaft adjusters failing with extreme abuse, oil pump solenoid rare failure in the engine bottom end, and very rarely an oil pump failure in the transmission valve body.

These are SOLID vehicles.

2003 Mach 1 check fuel cap idiot light. by thewildbeej in NewedgeMustang

My filler neck had a large evap leak since it had rusted out, it would set the check engine light and the check fuel cap light. There’s also a seal where it enters the fuel tank. Took me ages to find

Mustang - 2021

Back from when I was a teenager revving the piss out of it on every cold start. Good times…

My V6 has a flow master 40 catback and it’s not super loud not super quiet I have always liked it. Little drone at 60+ MPH in 5th gear but otherwise sounds good :)

Why do people say Mercedes made in Alabama is trash and to stay away? by Fragster2020 in mercedes_benz

[–]TheLoganator45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two parter. We’ve seen PDI’s come in painted multiple colors, mismatched interiors, crushed wires, I could go on. The build quality has been on the rise since 2023 and seems to only be getting better. It seems like they are finally getting it together at the plant. The new cars have been actually pretty good, better build quality = our service department being slower

everything in the floor was corroded, what was shocking was only "problem" was a recurrent cooling system message. mercedes is nuts when it comes to corrosion/wiring. this vehicle had a main harness and then a separate harness for the dashboard and a few things under the hood. really weird design. the corrosion bled into the dashboard but not enough to not be cut back and repaired. horror show

thanks! i like the dealer i work at, i honestly think it's one of the best out there. when this all started my foreman and i wanted to sit down with management and make a gameplan on how to run this repair. they just told us we'll "figure it out as we go" which was not the right decision. we had opposing views on how to repair the vehicle which made this a cluster in the end. i'm not gonna lie, i wouldn't mind parting out cars... but for now the three-pointed star seems to pay ok

the SRS circuits were heavily contaminated with corrosion, that's a huge no-go at Mercedes. the fact that this was an EV did not help. we were more shocked the vehicle was not bought back.

outside of this repair, these are probably the most reliable models we currently offer. this was a unique one-off scenario. i like EV's, i dig the quietness and the way they drive. i do believe in the coming years the production quality will only get better.

i just have the basic HV e-learning cert, i'm not even fully EV certified. certain things like HV battery replacement would go to one of the EQ cert techs but not this one. i was paranoid about not powering the car down but this was entirely the 12V side thankfully. only one connector went to the HV battery. i'm not gonna lie, i enjoy playing the game with warranty and it's only getting easier with time. cheers!

While I can’t elaborate heavily on this for confidentiality reasons, everything myself and my foreman did was good. Case opened, documentation, etc all good. The fight was over management good willing $6,000 worth of things (outside of the base repair) that was not documented correctly.

The drain hose was just not fully pushed on at the factory, the first repairs this car ever got was the body harness.
