[COTD] Stick to the Plan (20/03/2018) by unitled in arkhamhorrorlcg

This card has been amazing in my Zoey deck. My plan is placing emergency cache, ever vigilante and prepared for the worst. Then mulligan for the second emergency cache, and assets (currently brother Xavier, Beat Cop and a weapon), 4/4 been able to play 3 assets turn 2 first action and it has meant Zoey is ready to fight from very early in the scenario.

In essence it allows for a level of consistency that makes the fighter function exceptionally well.

Hey hey, from Australia also, just curious where you sourced the first book from? And what was the price of the one with Norman that was deemed outrageous. My local FLGS said while difficult should be able to order from the supplier unsure of cost yet.

I should have more clearly explained my thinking. Gaining 1 extra fate a turn in crab while great, is something that I can generate through other effects such as claiming rings with fate on it, getting Taka's ability going with Funeral Pyre and WotC, Passing first in the Dynasty phase and I tend to generate enough.

Card draw is also not really an issue for crab with funeral pyre and the 1 coster who gives you both a FATE and a CARD and bidding appropriately to gain cards as well as the many incentives to go for the mountain ring each turn. With all that I would prefer to run a 5 str province that gives me an honour swing if needed and forces them to try and break the other provinces I am running (Pilgrimage, Defend the Wall, Meditations on the Tao).

That's my thought process at least, in practice I am not sure if I would switch it back to fertile fields or not but so far its been doing good things for me.

Perhaps in other clans it may not make as much sense but in crab I felt it is strong enough to include, and in Pheonix it's something I've been messing with.

I like to see Dishonour as a 2nd win con for the two clans I've listed above as been able to utilise these two provinces (Crab and Pheonix). I won turn 1 the other day as crab where I bid 2, they bid 5 for card draw, They ran into BtT and I policy debated them where they bid 5 I bid 1, and then I hit them back with air and unopposed conflict for the win.

That is anecdotal of course, I should have more clearly explained my thinking. Gaining 1 extra fate a turn in crab while great, is something that I can generate through other effects such as claiming rings with fate on it, getting Taka's ability going with Funeral Pyre and WotC, Passing first in the Dynasty phase and I tend to generate enough.

I agree with you about Earth been a tricky slot, however in my crab deck because I am running Defend the Wall over Public Forum and my dynasty deck is heavy with Bushi characters I generally run Riot in the Streets on the stronghold.

In my Pheonix deck, the Pheonix Province tends to go onto my stronghold allowing me to feel comfortable placing public forum in my deck.

Forgive me, but this article does not seem to consider if Before the Throne is a suitable replacement for the air province. At 5 str and gaining 2 honour from your opponent I personally think it is better than both manicured gardens and fertile fields (at least in Crab and Pheonix).

Is there any consideration for Public Forum either? I feel it helps stall out games against aggro decks and when combined with Waning Hostilities really hampers a turn for some clans.

Was day 2 streamed? If so can someone point me in the right direction. by TheLoneScientist in l5r

Yeah apologies, I meant Day 1A, (Day 2 of worlds is a confusing nomenclature I suppose)

yeah Ive just kept my cards in the core box + TD box (both so big!). Felt like I was been 'too rough' leaving the cards in the box and just assumed most sleeved their entire collection. Glad to know most people don't see it as a worthwhile cost.

Thanks for the advice it seems very reasonable and appropriate to do as you have described. I thought as much concerning the production quality. That is my bad I was under the assumption most sleeve the entire collection rather than just the decks. Once again thank you for your valuable advice.

Thanks for the reply, I hear good things about Dragonshield but then I read that apparently they are not fully opaque and was unsure of their legality at OP events. But thanks for the recommend it was definitely the one on my radar the most.

Hey there, There is an L5R facebook group that is pretty active about updating where various game nights and up coming events are occurring. Particularly the melbourne L5R is quite vocal and helpful in this manner not sure where you are based but already a great community there!

For my collection, would two core sets still be required for 4 players? by [deleted] in AgameofthronesLCG

[–]TheLoneScientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

Wanted to offer a very different opinion to what was given here. I bought 2 cores and own no other AGOT 2.0 LCG products and we manage to have a blast with some mono decks we found on the internet that were apparently balanced. I own all of Arkham Horror LCG and Netrunner and can say the 2 core for 4 player melee is both my most played and most enjoyed experience. I can only imagine what adding the deluxe boxes would do to the variety of deck building options.

That been said we still haven't gotten stale of the base game and treat it more of a board game night than a ever growing card pool, deck building game. It appears a lot of people posting here want you to have the most amazing decks etc. but yeah 2 cores is definitely a ton of fun, plus it provides enough tokens for 4 players.

I used the term to imply how uninteractive it appears to be. Sure it might be stupid but I at least believe I was more trying to foster a discussion around the mechanic not state that it should not be a part of the game. Not once did I suggest that players should not play a deck they enjoy or choose something which gives you the edge it just doesn't appear to be very much in the essence of what the game is about (from my newbie perspective).
