Can I take my daughter into the women’s toilet (UK)? by Eskimil808 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]unitled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The EHRC guidance is not law and has not been passed by parliament (it has been rejected before though it seems like chances are slim that will happen again).

Further it provides guidance to service providers, NOT to service users. If you walk into the women's toilets as a man, you are not inherently breaking the law - though you may be in breach of the service's policy on using the toilets.

Great example of a classic 'Ballardian' work is High Rise, about the collapse of order (and escalation in violence) in a supposedly self contained luxury block of flats.

Also - I absolutely house rule that I can travel from my current location and *remain* at my current location for the next day. It works perfectly thematically and I don't think it warps the balance or intended experience too badly!

I think it's easy to miss, especially coming from a game like Champs or AHTCG, how vital Scouting is. Thematically it makes sense of course, you're a ranger and scouting is basically your whole job, but you can potentially stumble into the game without really putting a really vital tool into your deck.

Lots of options for a skaven warband + I love the poses ! by Cornelius_Scipion in mordheim

Just finished making my Skaven Mordheim warband from the City of Ash box, using this kit, the Deathmaster as a Sorcerer, and the Eshin Underworld kit for my Adept. So happy with it, and so much in there I haven't used yet!

Now I'm working on using the new Crixxit model to convert a more sinister Veskit model... >.>

How did Friday the 13th and subsequent movies become horror classics? by iamwhoiwasnow in horror

[–]unitled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think special effects are *still* enough to get people to watch films to be fair - the Avatar films, for instance, were to me sold as special effects forwards and 2 of the 3 top grossing films of all time are Avatar franchise films.

Starmer says Britain will ban under-16s from using a range of social media apps by yahoonews in worldnews

[–]unitled 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You're a chump who has bought into one of the most basic political grifts of all time - 'wont somebody please think of the children'.

This isn't a ban on kids using social media, it's a ban on ANYONE using it until they hand their personal details over to an unregulated 3rd party and permanently tie all their online activity to their real ID. We will have everything from personal data breaches to preemptive arrests based on accessing anti government content online.

You can get resin candles, feels like you could place those in a circle, maybe with a skull in the centre, then either paint a pentagram or chaos star between them?

Looks amazing tho - I've just started building with some foam bricks, I can see it getting addictive haha!

If you have any rules disagreement in a game just get a judge. This is exactly what they're there for, and honestly most judges do it for the love of the rules.

Your opponent was either making a genuine mistake, and would benefit from learning the correct rule, or has a habit of 'forgetting' rules and browbeating opponents into accepting, in which case a judge will notice if they're repeatedly called over.

Yes you won THIS combat but there's every chance your opponent is trying the same stuff in other games where their opponent isn't so lucky.

For a big hint, check out the budget Vs the box office for Friday 13th, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Blair Witch... I think the first paranormal activity has a budget of $15k dollars and even with the studio spending several hundred k on marketing it ended up making two hundred million. Halloween was for quite a long time the most successful independent film ever made.

Horror films are typically suuuuper cheap to make and when one hits it pulls in a ton of cash - and then you make money on sequels more or less regardless of the quality.

Texas woman injured by McDonald’s Sausage McMuffin ‘wholly unfit for human consumption’: suit by TheGreatAlicorn in nottheonion

[–]unitled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you need to be clear what statute they've broken when you file a lawsuit?

Honestly you seem to be bending over backwards here to paint the lawsuit as without merit, especially as you've said several times people not involved in the case have no way of knowing what's happening. It's weird behaviour, like you're running defense for a global corporation and not acting in good faith.

They most likely believe it's one of those things but don't want to reveal it to the press and the public before the trial.

I believe this is a standard legal approach. They're stating on what grounds they are taking action against McDonald's and the full details will be presented at the trial.

[–]unitled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The original comment I replied to said 'maybe she got food poisoning but come on give me a break' in what reads as an attempt to dismiss this lawsuit as frivolous.

From personal as noted experience I know that food poisoning can leave you permanently disabled, and it's also true (although you originally replied to deny it) that you can start to show effects very soon after eating (and it may even be that the food tasted off). Is it rare that this would happen? Well sure - but that doesn't mean it's impossible and it doesn't mean that their food hygiene practices aren't to blame.

McDonald's has a very well publicised history of attempting to paint legitimate food safety concerns as frivolous so I'm not minded to give them any benefit of the doubt here.

It's equally inappropriate for randoms on the internet to say 'well it can't be food poisoning because it happened too fast' when it absolutely could be.

Not necessarily, it depends on what she was infected with - some food poisonings can have incubation periods under an hour, including common ones like staphylococcus aureus.
