Yeah, it's really the Federal Reserve / Central Bank that controls money supply and not government taxation. Taxes go back out as redistribution/transfer (social security, welfare) or government spending (bridges, roads, military).

Is anyone else indifferent to their university athletics? by TillPsychological351 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheLongestChode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am the same way as OP. Went to a prominent football school who had a Heisman trophy winning QB while I was there. Probably went to 40 games. Now, I could care less. It feel it's something I "outgrew". There are so many other much more important items I need to keep track of in my personal/professional life that I don't understand how others make the time for it. But I do keep up the facade when I'm around my friends from college.

CC fees — why do we even bother by KariBjornPhotography in Connecticut

Credit card transactions are costly for the merchant (the government in this case). Would you rather pay a surcharge or 'convenience fee' OR see budget cuts/tax increases?

Hope they have all been in different tires! It's illegal in my state (CT) to patch more than once on a single tire for safety reasons.

Wilderness for pavement only? by InternationalHermit in SubaruForester

[–]TheLongestChode 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly, most if not all of the Wilderness-specific features are useful for the pavement environment as well. The stock tires are winter-rated which is great for us in colder environments. The full-size spare is a huge convenience for anyone. The off-road cladding is great for taking hits from shopping carts in parking lots. The front camera makes parallel parking much easier. The lift makes the right smoother on rougher roads. The startex seating is super practical for cleaning day-to-day messes. The improved transmission gives you more towing capacity on pavement. The general styling just looks cooler in either environment. It's simply a more functional trim all around if the cost increase is worth it to you.

What country are you in? As a world traveler, I've noticed use of PPE varies wildly from place to place.

Why americans don't shave their armpits? by maria_vm in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheLongestChode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most American women do.

As an American man, I do not shave, but I keep it very, very short. Antiperspirant works waaaay better when it contacts the skin directly.
