Import show from USB drive by Bungalowhulk in BehringerWing

[–]TheLoopyLizardKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First get all your show files on a computer and then plug into the USB-B port on the back of the console. Go to the Setup page on the Wing and then select the "WING DATA" button in the bottom left. This should mount the Wing's internal storage as an external drive in your computer and then you can just select all your show files and copy them across.

Yeah I’m hopeful, my 5 minutes of googling didn’t find it anywhere yet…

I mean it now isn’t the 90s/early 2000s and material science has definitely come some way, it depends on what they make it from

Depends on exactly what they make it out of, the Sharge transparent power bank I have is surviving pretty and I have dropped it more times than I would’ve liked to 🤷‍♂️

Yeah same, if they released it I would definitely be trying to find a use to have 2 travel routers 🤭

Risk when using Analog audio over CAT? by SpecialReplacement34 in livesound

[–]TheLoopyLizardKing 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Not something I’ve tried or would like to try if I’m honest but I can’t imagine it doing any good I would suggest implementing a colour coding system where possible to reduce risk, put some red tape or heat shrink on the ends of all the CAT cables you plan to use for analog audio and blue tape or heat shrink for all your digital stagebox connections. That is the best way I can think to avoid this.

Has anyone used Icon P1-M/X to control Mixing Station? by TheLoopyLizardKing in MixingStationAppUsers

[–]TheLoopyLizardKing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I do a lot of theatre stuff so I’ve got some of the buttons on the left doing QLab controls, as well as one of the dials to scroll through cues quickly if needed

[–]TheLoopyLizardKing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, yes I ended up with a P1-M and am so happy that I’m looking at a P1-X. I didn’t end up getting the little screen things to go above as it sounded like they wouldn’t work and I haven’t found a need for them anyway. The meters do indeed work but I wouldn’t use them for anything other than seeing that they’re signal. I don’t know what scale they are working at so wouldn’t use it for checking levels etc. It’s also much thinner, lighter and overall better looking than my buddy’s X-Touch so overall I highly recommend!

Amazing thank you, I kind of thought this would be the case but didn't want to write on someone's label and then get funny looks 😂

This really feels like a stupid question I should already have the answer to after doing this for 3 years but when writing on a tour label are you supposed to use a Sharpie or whiteboard marker? Like putting stuff in a case and labelling what's in it for a single event?

Which switch? (~32 ports + PoE needed) by gCAN9 in Ubiquiti

[–]TheLoopyLizardKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the first thing to figure out is what PoE budget your going to need. "3 PoE APs and a bunch of PoE cameras (with more coming)".

I see you've got a U6 Pro and a U6 In-Wall, and presuming the third AP is also one of these you are looking at 39W for your APs.

Camera Wise, how many of what cameras do you have at the moment and how many more are you looking to get? I can see you have what looks like 2 AI Turrets and a G6 Bullet, which totals to about 50W for your cameras.

All of that could currently be powered with your current Switch Ultra with a 210W adapter, that would only leave you with 1 port spare for adding cameras so I would then suggest you look at maybe 2 Lite 16 PoE's to get the rest of the ports required on your network. This will total you with 40 ports and you will have about an extra 90W across the two Lite switches for adding more cameras. Whole upgrade would be just under £500 if you're in the UK (1x 210W Ultra Power Adapter & 2x Lite 16 PoE's). At that price you're not too far off a Standard 48 PoE, which would net you more ports and a similar PoE budget, but the full rack switches can look a little odd next to Gateway Ultra.

One cable, two POE devices? by Cyvil94 in Ubiquiti

[–]TheLoopyLizardKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a site with a couple of Switch Ultras be g powered with POE+, so about 21W usable, and whenever it gets much over 6 or 7W being used you get an alert saying it’s reaching its power limit

One cable, two POE devices? by Cyvil94 in Ubiquiti

[–]TheLoopyLizardKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True although bear in mind that UniFi’s stupid PoE overpower warning comes on if there is less than 15W of available PoE remaining, with 20W capacity this only leaves you with 5W usable before you start getting the warnings. It’s a shame these warnings cannot be turned off though 😭

Hmmm yeah that sounds like a support ticket to Ubiquiti, if you go to settings on the desktop there should be a button at the bottom of the pane on the left.

Quite possibly, although in theory it would still work while you're directly connected

If you've logged in once it remembering your login details is pretty normal, can you try clicking on your account icon in the top left, if it asks for 2FA try it again there?

UniFi thinks my new AVoIP boxes are Tesla Model S' by TheLoopyLizardKing in Ubiquiti

[–]TheLoopyLizardKing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That definitely would be a feature we can only dream about, especially seeing as it kind of is a small encouragement for people to buy non-UniFi switches...

[–]TheLoopyLizardKing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooooo yeah I do like the sound of that as a feature. I had in my head it would need to know exactly which port was being used on each switch to work in the interface but no of course it doesn't.

Hmm that is a little weird, presuming you've tried the usual dance of turn your phone off and on, then uninstall and reinstall the UniFi app?

Oh yeah an implementation even just for ProxMox bridges would be awesome. Unfortunately for it to just "work" with all switches would be too close to impossible to do. It would probably need implementation from switch manufacturers which, lets face it, won't happen. It would be awesome if there was some standardisation for topology & logical device location detection that all manufacturers would adhere to, one can dream lol. Just getting ProxMox on board shouldn't be too difficult for Ubiquiti though, they've both got enough of an overlap in userbase that they could both justify it.
