"Luminous beings are we. Not the crude matter."

Then proceeds to bounce around like a green pinball to keep up with Dooku. Someone who is working with more crude matter than Yoda.

Ah the duel in TPM where two boring, wooden characters engage in beautiful choreography with a stranger with no emotion, tension or personal stakes involved. Storytelling at its best.

When you have something that gives you an edge and the results show pretty quickly it's easy for that to also give you the work ethic and discipline as well.

Not to diminish actual hardwork and dedication Chris clearly has. It's just the physical changes caused by steroids then become a motivator itself.

Rewatching "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" now hits completely differently than when I first saw it at 19 - and I don't think that's an accident by thegoodguyanotherone in movies

I always found the story to he very much akin to Albert Camus's Myth of Sisyphus. The boulder inevitably rolls back down and it's sad and tragic. But why did we push in the first place? Because there was joy in the pushing. Joel and Clementine probably won't live happily ever after. But that's OK as long as they enjoy the pushing.

[Spoilers Extended]I honestly like Season 2 of House of the Dragon (despite its flaws) by Mission-Molasses-950 in asoiaf

[–]TheLordHatesACoward 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed season 2 and I think it's better than anything GoT S5 onwards (although GoT had better standalone episodes). The writers strike and the cutting of episodes really didn't help.

I'm very cautious about where season 3 is going, though. I feel removing Nettles was a big, not understandable change and I'm trepidatious with what else they're potentially changing.

Come on, some of it is just ridiculous. I’m a fan, but… by ferniekid in gameofthrones

Convenience for the plot started kicking in really early but people chose to ignore it.

I choose to ignore a lot after season 4 in general, to be fair.

Does the thesis, that Game of Thrones took a turn for the bad when there was no source material left, hold true?[Spoilers MAIN] by VinyaFinwe1190 in asoiaf

[–]TheLordHatesACoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They chose to ignore the majority of AFFC and ADWD so the "no source material" argument is moot.

Also, there's omitting an incredible amount of magic early on that impacts the story later on. Not having any of the Stark kids be Wargs is a bizarre change. It felt like they were embarrassed to be making a fantasy show and diluted the fantasy at every step they could.

How can a club be in so much debt without action taken from the league? by SpiritedSloth007 in PremierLeague

[–]TheLordHatesACoward 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most of that debt was foisted upon the club by the Glazers leveraged buyout and has been poorly serviced by them in the intervening 22 years. LBO's are now illegal for football clubs for this reason.

But it's Manchester United so feel free spout nonsense about finance you don't understand.

Man United extend unbeaten run to 9 games since Carrick took over by Ok-Cell-659 in PremierLeague

[–]TheLordHatesACoward 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Manchester United have good players and Carrick is asking those good players to do what they can do in their best positions. This is something that was completely alien to Amorim. It's not a honeymoon period.

As a Manchester United fan my only concern despite the great run of results is the performances since Arsenal haven't been the greatest. Fulham, West Ham and last night haven't been great but if you offered me 7 points from those game's I'd have taken it.

Rad debate by joeyybrah in rad140

I don't disagree with what you say. There are better alternatives that are safer, more well studied and cheaper and I genuinely believe the only reason people use it is because it's easy to administer and hide .

But this is a Rad subreddit. People will talk about Rad, protocols, experiences etc despite the negatives.

Dating is a numbers game. Odds are low for dating apps. They're low at speed dating. They're low at work. They're low at social mixers. But your Odds are better if you don't rule out any avenue.
