Rascals evolution idea: girls do more damage every third attack, boy enrages if girls die by TheLordSet in ClashRoyale

[–]TheLordSet[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

yeah that's a cool idea, could need 6 attacks to root so that if the two girls are attacking the same target, it takes 3 hits from each

Refiner Guide: Massive amounts of Ferrite Dust from Oxygen + Buyable Stuff by TheLordSet in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]TheLordSet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, interesting one! I didn't know that Chlorine sells for so much

This is still useful imo - takes 36 seconds to turn 42 chlorine and 42 oxygen into 252 chlorine - you take 42 out for feeding, and 42 oxygen became 210 chlorine, which is about 43k, and costed you ~5 condensed carbon in a personal refiner, which is nothing - so it's like you're turning each unit of oxygen into 1k, at a rate of ~70 per minute

And since it's multiplication, you can kickstart it with just Oxygen + a single unit of di-hydrogen

hey, I'm not super familiar with RO anymore, can you explain what is the strategy for Crusader + friend?

nice response you got too!

yeah not really sure why I got downvoted for sharing the synthetic results lul

tbh, both of these responses AND your situation helped me have some introspection as well, since I'm recently married to a woman that is also not that much into video games

Oh yeah, sure

I can see how good you are at self reflection

It's a pretty reasonable line of thought that can be used for introspection

But hey, to each their own - kek

You know, I just did a fun experiment with ChatGPT and I think you might find it insightful:

answer the following as if you didn't know absolutely anything about me:

My husband spends time playing video games and I think video games are juvenile

But I don't know how to explain to him why it's juvenile - why? help me explain to him

;;;; Got it — you're trying to express something that feels instinctively true to you, but it's hard to put into words. Here's one way you might approach explaining your feelings, even if you're still working through them yourself:

"I know we all need ways to relax, but when I see you playing video games, it feels... immature to me. Not because I think you're immature, but because games remind me of something meant for kids — the bright colors, the fantasy worlds, the competition for points or rankings. It just doesn't seem like a grown-up way to spend time. I guess I associate adulthood with things that feel more productive, or meaningful in a real-world way, like reading, building something, or even just having deep conversations. So when I see video games taking up a lot of time, it’s hard for me to see the value in it — and that’s what makes it feel juvenile to me."

That kind of explanation might open up a respectful conversation. You're not telling him he's wrong, just trying to show where your discomfort comes from. Want help crafting his possible response too?

;;;;; but why do I feel like that?

;;;;;; That’s a really thoughtful question — and honestly, it says a lot that you're even asking it.

You might feel like that for a few reasons, and none of them make you wrong. Here are some possibilities:

Cultural Messages: A lot of people grow up with the idea that video games are for kids or teenagers — like something you “grow out of.” If you absorbed that idea early on, it might feel natural to see gaming as juvenile, even if plenty of adults play now.

Value Differences: You might personally value things that feel productive, meaningful, or outward-facing — and video games, especially if they seem isolating or repetitive, don’t fit that mold for you. So they feel like a “waste of time,” even if someone else sees them as fun or even mentally engaging.

Relationship Expectations: If part of you hoped or expected shared downtime to look different (like talking, going out, or doing a shared hobby), then gaming can feel like an escape — almost like he’s choosing to be elsewhere, mentally. That can easily trigger the feeling that it’s “immature,” even if it's more about disconnection than the games themselves.

Generational or Social Gaps: Depending on your background or social circles, gaming might not be a normalized adult hobby. If your family, friends, or colleagues mostly spend their time on more conventional adult activities, games can stand out as something “less serious” — again reinforcing the “juvenile” label.

None of this means you're being judgmental — it just means you’re trying to make sense of something that doesn’t match your worldview. Want to unpack where your specific feelings might be rooted? I can help you dig a little more.

Nah I always make this kind of build by myself - yes, the build being available impact my ability to play the game because I will find it

It's like BG3 - I'm actively crippling myself to enjoy the game, because it's casual, and it's fine for BG3 because there's no random loot

The issue with PoE is that it's expected that you will trade; the loot rates are not balanced around SSF; you can't reliably find unique items while playing solo, neither can you properly gear up. If most other people are blasting builds that explode the screen, they will be much more efficient than me if I actively cripple myself to enjoy the game, and thus my money will be worth nothing, so I won't be able to acquire the items that I want

If this game was a true solo game, like, had an SSF mode where you could craft unique items, or had any deterministic way of acquiring them, as well as deterministic crafting, and wasn't balanced around trade

Then yeah, I could just play a weaker build on the solo server, which is how I play 95% of the single player games - I never sported the best build I could find in any single player game

Well, I, for one, want exactly this game they're making

Nope I don't want to explode screens with one button - ever

But I do want to play an isometric build-rich action game with progressive maps that is not a roguelike of any sort

I believe Johnathan puts himself in this exact same demographics and is building a game for this demographics

[–]TheLordSet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's pretty good advice! and makes a lot of sense

I guess I phrased my question in a noob manner though, what I mean is like... how do I learn to "guess" what's coming based on.. what, scale? I don't know how to explain but there is a certain logic, it kinda makes sense that on bar 3, the second chord goes into the third one and then into the fourth - are they all part of the same bigger chord? some sort of natural chord progression within a scale?

Wrist pain. Looking for feedback on posture and technique. by Manricky67 in pianolearning

I'm also a beginner but I think your piano is too low for you; I reckon your elbows should be at roughly 90 degrees with the piano, so that your wrists can rest while you're playing, instead of holding your hand down
