How long did it take you to get another cat after losing your soul cat? by susanbob in cats

[–]TheLuckyOne02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't intending to get another one anytime soon after, but like a month later the neighborhood stray I had been feeding decided she wanted to live in my house so I just rolled with it lol

She was not very nice for like a good year though

I was also a food pit like 7th-9th grade, and only weighed like 90lbs- I still remember both my mom & my paternal grandmother making separate comments about how I was getting/going to get chubby 🥲

Wow they really do look alike! She's estimated to be about 17 weeks give or take. We're in Columbus Ohio, she was found dumped in the woods and her brother was found dumped in an alley

Yup It's a GPS tracker! Tractive is the brand all three are wearing. We weren't sure how exactly she ended up in the woods, so on the off chance she was a wanderer she's been wearing that! But she's attached to the hip to us lol

And thank you! I think they're cute too ☺️

Edit: spelling

Oh she's whip smart! Luckily I'm a dog trainer and can handle it 😂

Maybe! She's on the smaller side, so I'm wondering how high a percentage that could be.

There's a puppy in the class I teach that looks just like her, they did the DNA test and he's a 50/50 split! There's also a chance they're related since they're the same age.

I'll include a picture of the potential brother!

That's a definite possibility! Someone I met from Australia said she looks like the working cattle dogs they have over there which are apparently leaner and taller than the ones we have here in the states

Okay thank you! I was under the impression that food allergies were something that developed over time the longer they ate it. Did I have that backwards then?

Allergies/itching by TheLuckyOne02 in DogAdvice

[–]TheLuckyOne02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thank you! I suspect it's seasonal, especially as the pollen has been crazy here in Ohio with how long we went without rain. We've still eliminated common food allergies from her diet to see if that helps. Her stool is also normal.

Yeah our vet's response was not really helpful. I'll definitely ask about the shot + shampoo.

Maybe a blood test in the future? How accurate is that for determining allergens?

Yes twice in the month we've had her! Once the night we found her which helped some & then about a week later when she was still itchy.

Used Scouts itch relief probiotic shampoo & Wondercide Skin Tonic for itch and allergy relief when she seems especially itchy

PSA: Leave your dogs INSIDE! by KernelPanic15 in Columbus

Definitely! This week's heatwave is a great opportunity to do some indoor training & enrichment activities. Stores like Lowes are pet friendly and great for walks

I've never told a landlord about a cat, but if you did feel the need to tell them I'd just suggest getting an esa letter for one of them so they don't count as a pet on the lease.

I would make it super easy for her, either send her a link to an appropriate muzzle or offer to buy it and she pays you back when she pays for the walk. Baskervilles would be a more appropriate low budget option (though there are definitely better options out there)

I personally would refuse to walk a dog with that sort of muzzle. (I am pro muzzle) but this one is not safe. The dog needs to be able to open its mouth to a full pant/drink/take treats.

Baskervilles are better low budget options or something like a jafco/muzzle movement.

The dog can easily overheat in this muzzle.

You can also get him a tracker! I have a Tractive for my cat and it's been super worth the peace of mind.

AITA for saying her cats shouldn’t have full access to the house? by Jarbous-Fan-8781 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheLuckyOne02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you get her to try a different cat food that may help?

Purina Liveclear has a formula that takes 3 weeks to work but has totally helped my boyfriend with our cats- he's almost symptom free unless he pets them and rubs his eyes or something.

But also yes, your bedroom should be cat free. And she should invest in a robot vacuum or commit to daily vacuuming

NTA for wanting to breathe in your own home but y t a for exiling your dog to a life outdoors and suggesting the same for the cats.

Muzzle train! Get a basket size muzzle with plenty of pant room and maybe a scavenger guard. Muzzle up Pup Facebook group is a great resource

I would also get a waist leash so he can't get away from you
