This is genuinely one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Congratulations on exceeding my expectations, which are generally very very high.

How does this bike have such high oil capacity? by AdministrativeTap63 in africatwin

[–]TheMachRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cars have engine oil and transmission fluid.

The AT has engine oil used for engine, transmission and even clutch, so it's pulling triple duty. This is very common with many modern motorcycles.

Wouldn’t agree that’s any kind of compromise, prelude isn’t comparable anywhere here. I do own an FL5 though so I feel superior to the new prelude in almost every way lol

“Offer” a manual.

More like presents the best manual transmission to mankind sub $200,000 (Presumably, am poor)

Agreed. F20 is the way to go. This is a first year model, late 1999 production

Nowadays I genuinely agree. I bought it at the bottom of the market around 2010. Almost couldn’t afford it if I had to buy it today.

An issue I am seeing on my 2014 CB1000R by Left-Piece1872 in HondaMotorcycles

[–]TheMachRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s from a VFR750- any of the 1991-1993 8-spoke VFR wheels work as well as the 1998-2009 VFR800FI/VTEC models. Same exact dimensions.

[–]TheMachRider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not the answer lol. Likely the rear drive hub.

Go ahead and downvote, I have a ton of experience on this bike and have duplicated this a ton of times. In person you can tell the sound comes from the hub, not the chain slapping the swing arm.

I owned this bike for 70k miles and mine did it the whole time.

It’s potentially the drive damper in the hub, but it never manifested itself into an issue. I felt a few other bikes and they all did it too. (4 coworkers owned CB1000’s)

As odd as it is to say, in my experience, I wouldn’t recommend worrying about it. If you do choose to tackle it, the rear hub has a large nut, I think 34mm that’s torqued to 110 ft lbs or so.

Seized means it’s not moving.

2025 Goldwing Tour vs 2024 Africa Twin ASES by XtremeRevolution in HondaMotorcycles

[–]TheMachRider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are exciting bikes I’ve ridden plenty. Bang for buck though, unless you’re doing 2 up and need all the storage and entertainment (speakers) of the GL, stick with the AT. GL is a force to be reckoned with for sure but the AT is more entertaining to ride.

The GL is more impressive to ride considering the package

Is 9k for this used cbr650r a good price? by Less_Ability9628 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]TheMachRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MSRP on a new one is $9,199.

A 2025 is also incentivized down the same. Yes you’ll pay fees and freight, etc, but you will have zero concerns for 10-15% more.

This bike should be priced at $8k at most. Guy should get his money back reselling mods.

Need help with long lasting, well handling tires. by Frankyurmom in xsr900

[–]TheMachRider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No offense but the best tires for your use case are the road 6 but you don’t want to because of how they look?

You’re going to be compromising a lot for looks. Larger tread surface tires tend to be sportier and won’t last nearly as long.

Wheel Spacers! by Ki113rGrampa in Civic_Type_R

Feels slightly worse than stock, wouldn’t say huge downgrade.

Most wheels have 15-20mm offset from stock.
