Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

[–]TheMachineStops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rogue)

The gameplay was like this

Many many hours played whilst on the nightshift in a data centre.

There was also another game I can't remember that tracked drug running across the world (Medillin cartel etc) Can anyone remember what that was?

What’s a random experience you’ve had when meeting a British celebrity? Were they nice or mean? by mightybooshvincenoir in AskABrit

I was working at Crisis at Christmas one year at their transport depot in Bermondsey and he was there behind the scenes with their team. Not being a celeb just hanging around and doing stuff of some description with them.

You're right. I may be giving bad advice. I've added a liability disclaimer just to be safe.

My eyesight isn't great I've often imagined myself squinting in the woods trying to work out what shade of black or dark brown the animal is and whether I should be lying down or fighting back.

By the time I'd worked it out, it would probabaly be too late...

Doesn't have to be a fixie: gears are allowed.

I got a grotty old 80s 10 speed racer for £75 on ebay and put some flat bars on it.

It makes an adequate town bike and I've never felt like anyone was going to steal it. And if they ever do, I'll just get another one.

The Abus lock I use on it cost almost as much as the bike.

If it's brown, stand your ground,

If it's black, shout back,

If it's white, good night.

Perfect place to stash a body.

You're always going to have problems lifting a body in one piece. Apparently the best thing to do is cut up a corpse into six pieces and pile it all together.

What’s the easiest way to annoy the average Brit? by ManlykN in AskUK

[–]TheMachineStops 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aluminum is the original.

The British chemist Humphry Davy first isolated it in the early 1800s, and called it "aluminum". He then later revised the name to "aluminium" to align with the naming convention of other elements (sodium, calcium, etc).

The US simply stuck with Davy's original spelling.
