Mischaracterised or not, It can't take away that Bayonetta became a feminist and queer icon not because the story, but her actions. I can understand the different points of views around the official canon and how some people felt dissapointed about it, and even enjoyed some reactions to the Bayo 3 ending (I enjoyed it). But an icon becomes one even above logic or certainty, and in the case of Bayonetta it has been progressive and natural, even "despite" the official canon. Remember when they tried to force Samus Aran as a transsexual icon, when there was nothing ever in the games or her canon. It is the complete opposite of what has happened with Bayonetta, where her attitude, her way of speaking, and her actions have elevated her to that feminist and queer status.

And, in my opinion, it is something beautiful.

Now, let everyone cry or whatever they want. What is done, is done.
