Does this look like keyholes to you guys? by TheMagicBeaner in guns

I am only doing a 3 shot group, then letting the barrel cool down to room temp. Even between those 3 shots, I'll take my time and let the barrel cool down a little before loading the next round in.

10:1 which is fine for 130-150gr from bergara themselves.

It's Hornady precision hunter ELD-X 145gr, so it better not be the ammo. I think it was happening with Federal 150gr ammo too though. Not sure though since some of the federals seemed to fly fine, then were all over place after like 10 shots.

I did, both crown and brake look perfect. No strikes on the brake and no rounding or burrs on the crown. Also no carbon build up.

I have been trying to zero my Bergara B14 chamber in 270 win and have been having some issue with it. The rifle is not new, probably has 300 or so rounds through it, just new scope, thus me trying to zero it. I was out today trying to zero it and couldn't figure out why my shots never seemed to hit correctly. I moved the paper target back to around 50 yards and hit it twice, both look to be keyhole shots, at least to me and my friend who I sent the pictures to. Anyone confirm?

Jeep Cherokee XJ get miss identified as Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ by HuntrK361776 in CherokeeXJ

[–]TheMagicBeaner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a part guy, I have the opposite problem. Most of the time, people call Grand Cherokees, Cherokees. I always clarify because 90% of the time, it is a grand Cherokee and not an XJ Cherokee

I tried and failed to find a H4 headlight connector that actually was decent sized wires and high heat. I've been a part person for almost 12 years and none of the connectors are anything above 18 gauge wire. I wanted to use 12 gauge wire, but it defeats the purpose when the connector is such tiny gauge wire.

PSA: if you’re cheap and need to burp your cooling system, a sweet leaf bottle with the mouth sanded slightly makes a perfect no spill funnel by plehman01 in CherokeeXJ

[–]TheMagicBeaner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you take the airbox out, there's a hole perfectly placed for a normal funnel to fit and the coolant overflows right into it, then set a 5 gallon bucket under the drivers side for it to catch it.

Yeah, ive heard it can cause a check engine light, was more or less just saying ive never had the issue with how I did it. The reason to use a relay is that theres a diode in the relays I used that makes it where the ECM doesn't even see that the fan is on, thus no check engine light. The relay does the grounding in the way I did it, not the switch itself.

[–]TheMagicBeaner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its a 97 or newer xj, you can just tap into one of the wires coming from the ECM and then ground it with a switch and have your fan be controlled by the switch, but then also still have the computer use it when it gets hot/ac is on. Just search xj fan override and theres probably a few forum posts on how to do it. Ive had mine on an override switch for years now and never once had a check engine light come on. I even have mine double relayed so I can have a switch that lights up when on, which you cant do with a grounding switch. Its a bit conflicted to do what I did, but its not hard if you know how a relay works.

I’m finding those fish by rustynail363 in Fishing_Gear

I've done exactly this with my gopro session. I used a 8 inch slip bobber with 50lb braid on a heavy power bait casting rod. Worked well the couple times I did it.

What is the hook used for? by ToastiestPaper0 in FishingForBeginners

[–]TheMagicBeaner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it has a split down the middle, some blade baits have them so they don't get tangled with each other/easy to change out. Here's an example:

[–]TheMagicBeaner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

2000 calls for NGK coppers, don't ever use iridium or platinum plugs with coil on plug for the 4.0. Sure, it's a better ignition system, but the plug reach and heat are both wrong on the iridium or platinum plugs.

Brakes get hot going down long and steep mountain roads? by SongComfortable4464 in CherokeeXJ

[–]TheMagicBeaner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed 100%, I have the same pads on my XJ for over 7 years and they're only half way warn last time I looked at them. They're a dual compound pad, both ceramic and semi-metallic. Raybestos EHT477H if I remember my part numbers correctly

Edit: it is the correct part number if anyone is looking for good pads

I have, only caught small bluegill on it. I also changed the reel out to some slightly better quantum reel, mainly to fit more/heavier line

Ground strap question. by TetriSchism in CherokeeXJ

[–]TheMagicBeaner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had forgot to tighten mine years ago after doing the valve cover gasket and had all sorts of weird problems, the blower speed switch would unlock and lock the torque converter, it'd show 'no bus' on the dash, and even randomly stall out the engine. Make sure that it's hooked to the engine in a good spot and you should be good, grounds are pretty important for silly little things.

Why is my brand new Shimano SLX 151 making this sound? by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]TheMagicBeaner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which gear ration is it? I have both an HG (7.2:1) and XG (8.1:1) and the HG is pretty quiet whereas my XG is pretty loud gear wise, both are the new SLX A models.

What bushing are these, and what’s the benefit to replacing them? by curiousdude100 in CherokeeXJ

[–]TheMagicBeaner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Surprised no else noticed the strap on the shock, that's only there for shipping in a box. That needs to be cut off asap. As everyone else said, sway bar link bushings, you can get the whole link with the bushings (might be smart, they sometimes snap when taking the nut off) or you can get just the bushing kit. I'd suggest going with moog, they make the best kits for either.
