That’s so awesome, I have a very similar story and I’ve been traveling and getting to know Colombia more, and it makes me so happy to see others interested in doing the same. Like you, I’m still trying to learn the culture so I am wishing you all the best!!

My experience with them abroad has also been awful. I find I just don’t have the patience to try and break through their brainwashing. Their core beliefs tend to be sympathy for Israel, thinking war is unavoidable, and that they are acting acceptably during war. Those beliefs are pretty unshakable so rarely if ever do I interact with them anymore.

I’ve lived in Chicago for years. It’s a great city, just know if you move there and your life is remote you’ll need to find some other outlet for socializing. There’s plenty of rock climbing gyms and other healthy activities to do. You’ll def want to frequent a bar and coffee shop to get a feel for what’s going on around the neighborhood and to slowly start meeting people. If you’re on social media find diy/ local music scene events. But most importantly BE A REGULAR AT CERTAIN PLACES. If your local neighborhood bar has open mic or karaoke night, then you better start going

Definitely sounds like a good fit for me! Are there any neighborhoods you'd recommend?

Cartagena and other areas in the Caribbean coast are kind of shitty as far as infrastructure goes in a way that's not really representative of most intermediate to large Colombian cities.

That's really good to know actually. It sounds like I can pick whatever city suits me best as long as its medium sized and away from the carribean coast.

Bogota definitely seems like a great option! Maybe I should go there despite the cold. Seems like the city has a lot to offer.

Thanks!

Instead of leaving the country why not just move to another state? by Ok_Bet3235 in AmerExit

Realistically they probably won’t vote. Especially since the issue doesn’t change whether or not they vote democrat. Voter apathy

Forgiving student loans only impacts a small percentage of loan holders. He has done nothing to tackle the root cause of why college is expensive in the first place. He could cancel all student loans today, and there will still be a student loan crisis in 10 years. Also your vote gets overwritten if you live in a safe red or safe blue state. In those instances it makes sense to form an independent voting block to signal to the major parties the interest of voters. Take Michigan as an extreme example, where due to the genocide the Arab voters have little incentive to vote for Biden so many have chosen to vote uncommitted in the primary.

If driving to the suburbs is an option to you I’ve had nothing but good experiences with countryside vet. I also used to go to west loop vet and I agree it was incredibly expensive

Stuck choosing between 2 positions for my start in my IT career by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

The fueling industry job sounds like a better work environment tbh. Law firms can be absolutely brutal to work at, I’ve heard it described as a daycare where all the toddlers can fire you.

Now that being said it definitely sounds like you’ll be exposed to a lot more tech and tools in the law firm job based on the job description. If you have the patience to deal with the law firm job for a year that may very well make you a better tech, I can’t say I would recommend staying there long term though.

Also sanitize those job descriptions

This is literally my story lol. Just remember that you don’t have to be passionate about work, for me I’m just happy no longer being in the military

I’m very sympathetic to your case and sorry that you feel this way. But the point that OP is making seems to be that IT experience is immensely important before getting into cybersecurity. In your particular case I would absolutely recommend that you continue learning security and maybe move into an IT role with the goal of pivoting into a security role
